I hope it isn't just to MK.

But I would wager there is as much work if not more to build Euston to MK than Peterborough to Doncaster.

I've a strong feeling it is just to MK - there's quite a lot of trackwork and stations to construct for this stretch. Hopefully longer but I doubt it.

Welp the times ticking - I wasn't expecting this large of a thread but we did our chatter. I have a feeling we can use this thread post-stream to rant about what we saw......... hopefully not....

I think that is where we have to be greatful, I look at the bigger picture to model so much that and also the Scenery is gonna take a lot of hard work, also the very busy timetable.

While MK would be a disappointing end, it gets my approval as long as the quality is at or near BPO level.

Somehow, I don’t feel that'd be the case.

I hope you are right with it going to Rugby, however I just cant see that happening. I honestly think this route is more being made for the 350 stopping services to Milton Keynes which take an hour.

ECML station scenery was superb, the countryside scenery wasn't their best, we had better offerings regarding that aspect from TVL,GWE,ECW, NTP,WSR.

To be honest, no. Nothing in TSW4 was that exciting. Suspension took forever to release and can’t be switched off yet.

I’m not expecting whatever is next to be that exciting either. Just more expense. First time I won’t be bothered to watch live.

Love the game. Don’t love yearly paid updates with routes I don’t want. Maybe there will be a nice surprise and the core update will be free.

Actually let me tell you why I'm not: Because what in the last month would hype me up? DTG said nothing, exept some vage hints on the roadmap, on the presuably number of routes and probable nations to expect.
Is the a new game, new features, new something? No word on that. My fear is: yet another "new" game, wich will force me to download the complete library, wait for new features for a year and so on. Thinking about that alone gives me anxiety.
The rest is speculations on probable leaks and or the personal wishlist of the speculator.
So no hype on my side, because there is nothing to be hyped about.
This may change, once you finally get the information out, but until that I'm really not hyped but scared on what is waiting for me and one of my favorite game :/

What if WCML South and the 350/390 are the UK Route/Loco in 4-6 months and NOT TSW5 core route. Don't think I've seen anyone speculate that. But, only hours to go till we find out!

I don't feel the scenery on ECML was awful! I have some issues with the route but the scenery isn't one of them

I don't think TSW4 has been the most exciting period content wise even including Blackpool. Had a great drive on NTP last night which reinforced that view, despite the lighting. The steam announcement still rankles. The non UK content has been more interesting.

I hope we have a bigger variety of UK content in the next twelve months.

I am looking forward to the announcement and seeing what the next 12 months hold. Not sure I'd say hyped. However it takes something of monumental proportions to illicit a feeling greater than mild excitement from me though!

i live literally on part of this section of route, and it is incredibly accurate, down to the nature reserve lake, the rarely used foot crossings, the footpaths that literally only locals would even know to look for.. it might look quite bare in places because that's how it is in reality.. it's the countryside out here and it's flat and it's fields and not a lot is going on, it's something i love about it here.

so to someone who doesn't know the area or only passes through at 125mph it might look sparsely done, but i assure you it's very accurate and true to life.. and believe me if it wasn't i'd be the first to call dtg out on it 'cause it is literally my home, i know exactly how it looks in reality!

Yes I imagine it is accurate. I have travelled the East Midlands and East Anglia and know how sparse it can look.

Generally DTG routes are accurate scenically.

I don't know what you're looking at but the lineside foliage was barren as hell compared to the real thing. Here is just one comparison photo:
    Screenshot 2024-08-20 at 13.46.10.png

Look how sparse the lineside is here. Why is the grass pushed back like 10 metres from the ballast shoulder. Grass would normally start flush with the ballast shoulder.

Very true. But let me already post some feedback on TSW5 that will still stand once the Direct is over:
I'm very disappointed about the fact that Belgium is still non existing in TSW. Shame on you DTG!

I wouldn't say they were inaccurate, they do a pretty good job within the confines of a simulator.

For example the Cross City route is as close to the prototype you are likely to get. I can instantly see where I am on it.

You aren't going to get every single building on the line side modelled exactly.

It will be the same as in TSC - the community has to do it themselves (once the editor allows to export routes). ChrisTrains have done an awesome job on dutch routes.

It seems to me some routes are better done than others. You can definitely see that they have spent more time on one part of a route than other parts.

You can recognise where you are most of the time, then other times you are thinking where am I.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I know the hard work that goes into route building and modelling.
They can't make it like for like.

Sometimes I'm driving a route and I can feel the project has been nearing the deadline and rushed a bit in places.

Free Starter Pack is a good idea. At least it means future DLC isn't locked behind a paywall. But as I only got into the game 6 months ago, I'm happy to buy the Deluxe. WCML and 390 is a yes from me, even if only to MK. Route Hopping seems to be a start to a kinda route merging. Don't know anything about German routes, but liked the look of that too. Looking forward to finding out more on WCML and how the Bakerloo and Watford DC lines play into it.

There are tons of Pendo services running Euston->MKC - plenty to do. Why is this shorter than ECML? ECML was open countryside with 5 stations, this is London and 28 stations. It's really fun, so much to do, i've had to pull myself off it numerous times to get on with actual work.

    Matt.

Matt are you able to conform if there are any additional layers that work with WCML or is it only the route hopping?

Will the pendolino be available as a separate purchase like the flying Scotsman was with TSW4?

Also would it be possible to have a preview stream for the WCML on a Series S or equivalent platform? I’d like to know how the performance is going to hold up before committing to purchase something

Just watched the DTG Direct - some good stuff coming.
Disappointed that the VR version is Quest only, and I'm now hoping to see, going forward, a Northern Ireland route bearing in mind we now have England/Scotland & Wales.
It might be the perfect time too, as Belfast is about to get a brand new public transport hub in the guise of the new Belfast Grand Central Station - which is due to open at the end of the year (https://www.translink.co.uk/corporate/media/pressreleases/bgcsupdates).
    Surely this is a sign?

I love it! My heritage is Dutch even though I've never been there, I am planning to go in a few years so I will love a Dutch route.

What safety systems would Holland be using? And are there any current locos/layers that would fit onto this route (i.e. cross border DB or maybe the Vectron Railpool/MRCE locos?).
