I’m sure alot of you have just watched the summer 2024 dovetail direct and if you have you should know that they are going to remaster the Great Western Express route (about time) and DTG Alex I think it was said there was going to be a ‘Blue’ train, does anyone have any idea on what this is because it wouldn’t be the Elizabeth line because obviously that’s purple so the only thing I can think of the the midland Pullman but I don’t know, does anyone else have any idea on what this ‘blue’ train could be!
Not likely - Diesel Legends claims to be set in the 1970s, predating the introduction of the HSTs by several years. My money is on a new BR Blue loco. I remember in the reveal stream years ago they mentioned that they could have considered a 37/0 instead of the 52 they went with.
I'd probably say it would be the first great western livery as that was available for a certain amount of time before DTG removed it
Class 50 the most logical choice though realistically would have to be added to DLOGW to fit in the correct era. Otherwise it's really only going to appear on railtours. A dark horse could be the Class 56 but again by the time this route is set, the odd example running round in FOC colours. So this is probably the biggest ??? on the reveal so far. Realistically I would have expected a GWE DLC to be a Class 165 Turbo or a Class 180 Adelante.
I hope it’s a Class 50. When I was a young train spotter on Newton Abbot station, It was my mission to tick all of them off in my book. Wouldn’t be upset at the Blue Pullman though.
For a remaster that is free to players who already own GWE, I think the FGW livery is more likely than a new train.
As like previous remasters there are no 'new' trains with this update, just liveries for existing trains.
Same guess as mine. Surely i mean the designer of the HST passed away not long ago I feel like this could be a good paying tribe to this by giving us this.
Class 50 would definitely be top of my shopping list, and they are probably even more synonymous with the Great Western mainline than when they double-headed on pre-electrification WCML expresses north of Crewe.
DTG have stated that they don't have the licence for the blue FGW livery on HSTs, which is why they had to 'pull' the mod that revealed it in the early versions of the route. I agree that a new loco on a free remaster seems unlikely, but a Class 50 would be brilliant, and very apt for the forthcoming Preston-Carlisle route, too.
A pair of filthy pre-TOPS unrefurbished hoovers wouldn’t look out of place thrashing up Shap if you squinted and ignored the wires lol.
It's a new train though.. Liam said there won't be any new trains, just liveries for existing trains; so a 180, 50 or 56 or whatever isn't possible unfortunately...
They continued service into the mid 2010’s, I should know since I’ve been on one after 2010. Edit: They were in service until 2017 before being transferred to Angel trains
I went on the gwml trainspotting all the time in 2017 and they were still their Also Even with the remaster it said something blue which means they're adding something
Liam said it won't be a new train, just a reskin of an already existing one. So it won't be a 180, a 50, or a 56 or whatever. It will be something already existing in the game, with a new repaint and possibly new interiors/cabs... (?)
What do we have in the game that isn’t blue but could be blue and fit on the route in either the modern or diesel era? Hmmm… My guess was to be an original BR Blue HST for Diesel Legends but it turns out it is the HST and 166 in an unbranded blue livery for the main timetable. Never mind.
Looks good! That is about what I was expecting considering the scope of a free re-master, I knew it wasn't going to be an entirely new loco. My guess was a BR blue HST but this one makes sense too. One thing I am wondering with the de-branded stock... I know DTG doesn't currently have a GWR license which explains why the "green" 187 is blank... but does that also mean the 43 and 166 that currently have GWR branding will LOSE it? Or do they get a pass since they were technically released when they did have license...
No extra money is being charged for them so I believe they will still keep their GWR branding. A new license is only required for an additional purchase, otherwise the original product license is still valid. It's the same reason Cathcart didn't either lose or require a new license for the Scotrail 314, the only new license required was for the 380.
My question on this is are they going to fix the 52's roof vents being solid, when the WSR crimson one has actual see-through mesh? Afaik this is still the only train in the game to have such a confusing downgrade.
Yepp. From the top of my head: 'Airport' 387's from the HX depot at Old Oak to Paddington, and back. Services between Heathrow and Paddington will be AI 'Western' 387's between Paddington and Hayes and Harlington The Ex-GX livery has no services but is made driveable/spawnable after its debut as an AI only train on GOBLIN.
Thank you, also, just curious: did you ever think about bringing this scrapped EWS Class 08 DLC back from the dead?
Are we getting opening cab doors (as on the MML HST) so the engine noise is a bit more audible, or maybe buff the cab sound level a bit, please?
