What an amazing announcement! I’m really excited for Train Sim World 5. Everything looks so good, and I’m genuinely surprised by how well everything has turned out.But what I’m most hyped about is finally getting a Dutch route! I never thought this would happen, so this is a dream come true for me. And not just one, but two trains on the Dutch route! This is definitely going to be one of my favorite additions. I can’t wait for the release!

 

It‘s sth that happend in TSC, and I really hope, that they won‘t do the same mistake

 

One thing that bothers me a little about TSW5 is why two Vectrons at the same Time? Personally, I would have preferred to use a Taurus for the Flixtrain.

They are actually better off doing Hollandstrecke Duisburg Bochum Oberhausen Emmerich am Rhein Zevenaar Arnhem Centraal 145km solves the issue on HRR.

 

Well... the news about TSW5, has mixed "emotions" to me. Let me explain.

I will talk about the "Deluxe Edition" only, which is the one I think to buy.

- The Class 390 and the WCML route, are great!

- DB ICE-T and the route from Frankfurt to Fulda, are also great. Mainly having a big terminal as Frankfurt!
Does the Dostos of this route... finally will have always visible the destination of the train?!.
It is something that could never be fixed, from the previous generations of the game.

Note: Is a nice surprise DTG could makes a tilting - electric - train!
I remember they mentioned that when the DB BR612 diesel one was launched, and I requested this train that time. So thanks DTG!
As it is more complicated due to the more movement of the train.

Those 2 trains and routes are the big interesting new things I see.

Well,... see below:

- San Berandino route, is similar to TSW4 Metrolink one.

- The scenery also

- The trains: The locomotive is the MP36PH, as the one Peninsula corridor, but with a less attractive paint scheme

- Flixtrain is a repainted - in an ugly and boring all green (from my point of view) - of the Vectron, plus same color for the passenger wagons.
The news here are the passenger cars, which are of another model, not available before
Nice to be used repainted for other trains.

- The cargo Vectron in all red DB, you can have it already from Creator's Club, even repainted on other real paint schemes.So nothing special

- No news about a new freight car model! That would be nice to add too.

- BNSF ( I already have Cajon Pass, which I like), but it is mentioned new "Route Hopping" feature , so let's see about it.

- Then the VR, which I do not have, -and not interested in-, but it must be nice for the ones who like this technology.
- Live Map 2.0: Let see how it will change. But nice to be improved.
- Conductor Mode: Does not interest to me. But Ok for the ones who liked
- Digital display screens; Lets see about it.

As to the future routes, nice to see several new routes.
But mainly a Netherland one, and the "rebuilt" of the beloved GWE!

Final question:

I wonder, if all the new locomotive / trains launched here, it will have the new suspension feature?

That's probably why suspension took ages to come to TSW4 they were probably adding it to all TSW5 trains.

Don't enjoy USA routes for whatever reason and on this occasion the German route doesn't appeal either. Mind you I've not bought the last 3 German routes either. Maybe, I'm going off them?!

Thus of TSW5, only the WCML and Pendolino appeals and I'm not going to splash out £53.99 (discount currently on steam) for the deluxe edition featuring two routes I don't want. If I can buy them separate then great, if not, I'll wait until it's really marked down.

The winner for me was the Just Trains route. Finally getting an AC Electric loco in the shape of the Class 87. Electric locos were really missed in Blackpool Branches, but you know they will be layered in, making that route even better!
Apparently some screenshots dropping tomorrow so will check them out.

I'm also happy to see a Dutch route at last, even though personally it's a strange choice. I was hopping for Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Arnhem or even Utrecht in there. Could even layer in an ICE at the latter suggestions. Still, if it's successful I hope it can lead to other Dutch routes later on.

The Cardiff route I'll need to see more info first.

I hope they go one way or other on GWE remaster. The era they modelled - electrification underway - looks bad, as it did in real life. I'd hope they either electrify all the way to Reading, or leave it at Airport Junction.

I'm glad there's a lot of content coming, but the only one I currently intend to buy the day it comes out is the new Just Trains route.

 

The same situation applies to Canada. Yet beautiful roads in TS. Oakville could easily be improved with continuity with Toronto and why not Montreal? CN, CP, VIA Rail, EXO, etc. MSTS, headquartered in the United States with routes around the world. DG, head office in Europe and mainly roads in Germany and Great Britain. Sigh.

 

I tried to post it on FB in a Group called "Train Sim World Community" but a moderator didn't allow me to.

 

Probably because there are already 3 in the game versus 1 Vectron. Now there will be 3 versions of each.
The Taurus in the game are crying out for better versions of them to be made also.

 

Really disappointed Amtrak wasn't the US feature route

I have to say Im really impressed with the TSW5 announcement. It comes across as a much bigger upgrade and content package than the jump from TSW3 to TSW4. The new real time map and fast travel features are top of my most wanted features.

I'm really liking the new menu interface colour scheme. It was terrible in TSW3 and it much better in TSW4. Now we have something back to the 2020 and TSW2 days which were far better than 3 or 4.

 

All that waiting for the US just to be revealed what we already know, what a joke........

"AMTRAK" isn't really a route....
Although doesn't AMTRAK run METRA through contract?

If route hopping is to become a thing, I hope the timetables match up. Would be nothing worse than say jumping from a busy Brighton station on one route to an empty Brighton on another... at the exact same time.

 

Well not having the option at all would be worse.... it should be fine as long as they're both following the accurate timetables since they'd be literally depicting the same thing in real life.
(Brighton Station at 8:45 am for example should be exactly the same...)

 

Not only the cabs. Those are both AC Vectrons, right? So only 2 pantos, and you have a switch to decide which one should be up, eh? Well I am excited and thankful we got a "normal" Vectron now, apart from the, still quite cool MS one, but a change was needed. More passenger services!

 

I like the Vectrons, I miss the Smartrons. I hope well get the expert.

Not sure if everybody notices, but in FAQ thread they also mentioned upgrade of annoying track shadows rendering in front of cab. Finally they going to fix it, at least on new routes and routes being remastered.

 

I think it's just a way of them getting around adding extensions to routes.

They've explained it before but to logically create a high speed route, the route has to be extremely long which was outside their scope and budget. Then there's also licensing that can play a role. There's a reason why only high speed is in tsc and tsw

 

Well tsc and tsw aren't the same. Tsw also has tsg as a resource who could provide sounds or engineer them

 

The issue with gwr is the license which expired so dtg can only remaster it, not remake it

 

They also ran into a lot of problems while implementing suspension that they didn't expect would take a while to fix.

 

You get some of the core improvements, not all

 

I'm looking forward to drive the Flixtrain, as they, at least until recently ran in Sweden.

Highlights for me - Starter pack Remastered Great Western & Diesel Legends and new blue loco (Class 42 Warship, Class 50 ?)
Just Trains WCML North & Class 87
WCML (tho I hate OHLE), Desiro/350, 390
Extending the track shadow rendering - this was the one thing that annoyed me, because you couldn't get away from it, like you could, other bugs.

Other thoughts -
I'm pleased for the strong Netherlands community, that they're being bought into the TSW franchise. I know nothing about trains over there, but am intrigued.
Route hopping is a neat solution
The city commuter scene has become a thing, due to it's popularity.

 

They should do, on kassel wurzburg, they were popular at Fulda

 

The Pullman HST uses Power Cars and Carriages from former EMR sets, so VP185 engines. It's not to say it won't be the Pullman HST, but it's not likely.

 

The FAQ seems to say that all core improvements come with the starter, but improvements contained in the new routes will require purchase of the routes.

 

Metra has purchase-of-service agreements with UP and BNSF to operate a few Metra lines, and Amtrak has agreements with the freight operators to run their trains on freight-owned tracks, but I'm not aware of any direct tie between Metra and Amtrak.

 

For all the DoSto we get, we never got a high-entry DoSto. It's a shame, really.

If you look at the really new German rolling stock from DTG itself over the lifetime of TSW 4, what did we get?

• BR 642 with Maintalbahn
• BR 111 with Salzburg-Rosenheim
• BR 193 Vectron

With 3rd party releases, this list expands to:

• BR 218 + Karlsruher diesel cab car
  
• IC cab car
• BR 101 expert mode (other than the outside look, it is practically a new loco)

That's all the completely new rolling stock. All the rest are existing stock that has gotten some new features (and bugs), different paint jobs, slightly different cabs. I fear, we will see a rehashing of all the existing German content to add suspension to all of them. Instead of backporting it to the various existing versions of them, we will likely get them added in as "new" in upcoming routes.

But this constant rehashing prevents them from adding any really new passenger stock to Germany. The newest EMU we have are likely the BR 442 and then older BR 423/425. If I go to practically any route today in Germany, however, I will encounter Flirt, KISS, LINT (diesel MU), Desiro ML, Desiro HC, Twindexx, and of course ICE 4. None of these will probably come until TSW 8.

 

No preorder discount on steam is sad..

 

The fact TWS core game is free is nice. I'm not particularly excited by the WCML route. 350 and 377 look quite similar. Welsh route and Preston to Carlisle with Just Trains do look appealing. V disappointing there is no new North East England route.

On vacation, so i didn't get to watch, but my first impressions from reading the article are good, especially some of the core updates like the updated map, route hopping, and fast travel
The new UK and German content is good, even though WCML South is only to MKC.

But for US fans, woof! Nothing new at all!!!!

Also, where are people getting info on WCML North, a Dutch route, and a Welsh route- are these 3rd parties?

 

There were a number of route teases on the stream, WCML North is from Just Trains, the others I believe are all DTG first party.

 

just made a quick check of my Steam library, TSW 4 says 60 DLCs (3 are just pre-order bonuses), TSW 5 says 56 DLCs (which is understandable, since the new DLCs will activate in September)... but I dont understand why NEC: New York - Trenton is missing from my TSW 5 list?
