I don´t know if I´m just thinking to complicated, but I have one question: When I download TSW5 onto the other, much larger hard drive (with 500 GB free), am I still able to transfer my profile from TSW4 which is located on the other hard drive? Ii would definitely better to store TSW5 there, instead of fearing about the game´s sizes getting to big.
You profile is saved in the cloud on Dovetail Live. Once you use the same login all your profile details should be linked. Wrong/Misleading Information - Chris
Doesn´t it have to do something with the local files in the "documents" folder anymore? That would explain why you have to upload all your liveries at least...
Your profile is located at C:\Users\[YOUR_USERNAME]\Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld4 The game probably does not care where you install it (in Steam you can move the game installation from one drive to another as long as you do it using the Steam interface). Your profile will still be in the same place (the Documents folder) and has nothing to do with where the game files are installed.
I second this - your profile is linked to the cloud and DTLive. Wrong/Misleading Information - Chris I have the Xbox version of TSW and primarily play on console as my PC isn’t quite up the handling a lot of TSW content, but I do occasionally pop onto some smaller less intensive routes on my PC and all my progress etc such as driver level, completed services / scenarios remains up to date across both PC and console versions when I boot each one up
Only your Mastery progress is saved at Dovetail Live. The profile is saved on your hard drive. Official DTG source: https://dovetailgames.freshdesk.com...064482-how-do-i-backup-restore-my-saved-data-
When I remember correctly from the move from 3 to 4, there was a FAQ (for consoles) that you need to have both to be installed and need to run TSW 4 (now 5) once to import the profile. After that to old one could be deleted. So I doubt that those informations are stored in the online profile. Also when I play the steam version it’s starts on level 1, even when logged in
So what about custom liveries I’ve created? The FAQs says I have to upload everything I have created (dozens and dozens of liveries) to CC then download them after installing TSW5 to be able to continue editing them or use them? If I’ve never uploaded them surely they must be stored locally so can they not be copied over to the relevant folder in the TSW5 install? I am a PC Steam user.
WaveyDavey , You may be able to transfer the specific files relating to your custom liveries/scenarios if you know what you are doing. To simplify things, we would recommend that players upload their designs to Creators Club, as this will work on every platform. I've edited the above posts containing misleading information. Dovetail Live has never stored your in-game profile in the cloud.
This may be myself being stupid but normally liveries you download from CC cannot be edited so how will this work with liveries you are wanting me to upload so as to be able to carry on editing them with TSW5? There’s also the issue that liveries are removed from CC for copyright issues so how will people’s liveries that they have created for their own use that have copyright issues be able to be uploaded to CC? (I have numerous created for my own use because of this). I’ve never had to download a livery of my own that I uploaded so hence the questions. Will this not also absolutely swamp CC with liveries, scenarios and consists as people upload everything in their collection? (As I mentioned I have probably 30-50 custom liveries that are either post finished or were for my own personal use due to copyright etc…..) So I will have to upload all of them surely of others are the same or will just kill the service? it just seems a very odd way to go about it
can i please ask a question, if we transfer our profiles (i'm on ps5 if that's any help) from tsw4 to tsw5, does that mean all the collectibles we've collected for each route (for example the route maps on each route) will still be there and unlocked after transfer? i hope so as i'd hate to have to go through all my routes and re-find all the collectibles like the route maps, it would save soo much time if they are already unlocked after transferring profiles!
Also mind the ICE 3s, the G6 and the RABe 523 where we aren't allowed to share them at all! I have ca. 15 liveries for them all in total which I could make again, If I wouldn't copy the "UGCliveries"-file. That's saved with your profile, no need to worry
