The Airedale and Wharfedale lines is a 43 mile commuter route (which trains may reach past 80mph o) Which is operated by Northern. The line is based in the Yorkshire regions. Leeds, Bradford Foster square, skipton and Ilkley are all End /Start points for this Specific route. The route Rolling stock Class 333- 4 car Units Class 331 Couldn't upload a picture for some reason Services The class 331 and 333 do the same services Bradford forster square - Leeds. Calling at Frizinghall, Shipley, Apperley Bridge, Kirkstall Forge and Leeds. 2 tph (takes around 25 minutes to complete) Bradford Forster square - Skipton Calling at Frizinghall, Shipley, Saltaire, Bingley, Crossflatts, Keighley, Steeton and Silsden, Cononley and Skipton. 1 tph ( 40 minutes journey time) Bradford Forster square - ilkley Calling at Frizinghall, Shipley, Baildon, Guiseley, Menston, Burley in wharfedale, Ben rhydding and ilkley. 1 tph ( 30 minutes journey time) Leeds - Skipton Calling at Shipley, Saltaire, Bingley, Crossflatts, Keithley, Steeton and Silsden, Cononley and Skipton. 2 tph (40 minutes journey time) ilkley - Leeds Calling at Ben rhydding, Burley in wharfedale, Menston, guiseley and Leeds. 2 tph ( 30 minute journey time) Neville hill depot is also home to these trains so that should be fun. I believe this would be a great opportunity to introduce both the Class 333 and 331 and reintroducing Northern trains to TSW I understand with most of the new routes 1 new train is added at a time so I would hope the 333 is introduced first with the 331 being a add on.
Great suggestion which is a route I and many others have been wanting to be added for some time especially with the variety and more of a network feel that the route gives. Plus if we got a northern class 158 the trains from Leeds to Carlisle and Morecambe could be added as far as Skipton.
Yes! Someone Is keeping it alive. It is my local route and I've been begging for it to be added. I'd get it day 1 and wouldn't come off it. It's such a great route to add in. Dovetail has the license so why are they waiting so long for a great route!
Like how the leven branch will be added into Fife circle, they KWVR can be added aswell using the flying Scotsman for railtours there. Use a steam train there and possibly make the 143 (the 143 probs won't happen)
For the 801 services it only stops at Shipley. For commuter services it depends on peak time but they do stop occasionally.
Little idea: we could back date this to 2017 so we get the 322 instead of the 331/0. We also get the old iconic livery that I like. That's when the good times were.
Let's not forget that soon Bradford will be getting a 4th platform and with it more LNER 801 services. Also got to agree that the red livery with Serco Abellio Northern was the best and absolutely iconic.
I've just noticed that from the trip I went to go see the new minions movie. It's a big revamp for Forster square
KWVR would be a nice touch as they have a class 101, a pacer (I think), a class 37 and I think some of the steam locos which are already in TSW so it'd be so easy for DTG to add.
Great suggestion! I'd also prefer the 322 and triple 3 era! But I wouldn't disdain the CAF either. They should take advantage of the Northern license they have!
Exactly! They have done nothing with it except Glossop line, so why not make this line while you still have the license.
The 333 is my favourite train. It has a great design and I've grown up with it all my life. I hope to run them when I'm older.
Did the 150s or 156s used to operate on Carlisle and Morecambe services before the 158s took their place.
Yes, I do remember that 150/2 used to run services to Lancaster or Something. 156s didn't run on the line at all.
Good suggestion, I think that this would be a good 'network-style' route to have that is outside of London and it is a good way to re-introduce Northern into the game as they haven't featured since Glossop Line. You could add some layers at Leeds, for example the Class 801 from ECML to add some ECS moves to Neville Hill and to operate the peak services to/from Skipton and Bradford Forster Square so it adds a different experience and thus compliments the Northern services quite nicely .
This route offers lots of variety for passenger services but I know some people care about freight and having looked at RealTime Trains I can see there are a few freight services which tend to be class 66s
Yeah, if there is freight which covers some parts of the route, judging we have the correct wagons (or close enough), they can be included. Same can be said for the RHTT services too as I'm sure they are common in Autumn like on other UK routes within TSW.
Now TSW5 is around the corner this will be a great opportunity to re add northern rail. They didn't add it in TSW4 which is a shame as it's a perfect route. I'm sure they have to do it for TSW5. It's such a good route. They is also loads of stuff you can do. Why are they wasting northerns license when they could be making this masterpiece of a route?
That clearly are interested in network styled routes (as proven by the Cardiff city network) so it's definitely a no brained to add a route like this which already has an established backing who would purchase day one.
Yes, they are alot of players wanting this route seen with other suggestions on this route. As seen with Glossop line they have northern rail license. So for a whole year pretty much DTG have been wasting that license. It's a better option to make this route. Many people like me would purchase this day one and everything that comes with it. It should of been added in TSW4.
Hmmm, that's interesting, might be an MPV or similar that does it or like you say, it doesn't get done at all in Autumn .
Not exactly. Leafs don't usually appear on the rails here which is weird. I think it's just our wind that does the job.
Indeed, the other day it very actually very windy.. I'm guessing it saved RHTT a job because I didn't hear any freight trains late at night.. I live next to the line.
I agree. We need the 333 and we can put it into Unbranded Heathrow and call it a 332 but just the 4 coach variant. They can add with the GWE revamp.
No reason that they couldn't just duplicate one of the normal passenger coaches to make it a 5 car if people wanted. Probably one of the most requested trains too.
Fair play, we can do that. It just needs to be unlicensed as Heathrow are denying to give their liscense.
Wow, you guys really have an interest in this route. This is now probably my biggest thread/suggestion Thanks for all the replies and peices of info I and probably a couple others didn't know This route kind of points into the direction of the network style routes DTG are looking at implementing and it offers full services with a licensed company in an interesting and under used area (in TSW). Hopefully we get it soon!!
I am quite interested in the route, I mean who wouldn't want their local route in tsw? I feel like it can happen in TSW5. DTG are just wasting northerns license when they are such good routes to be made like this route or the Tyne valley line newcastle-carlisle. Why are they not using northerns license to their advantage?
Well for this as your biggest thread I think this may actually be the best, everyone is onboard with it! Just need DTG to see it.
