So I had a thought with new route hoping dose this mean that new routes will be connecting to routes Like Great Western Express with new route from Reading to like Bristol or Oxford like GOBLIN line would be connecting to LTS or North London Line So what you think would there be new DLCS as connection routes
I also think it is a interesting feature and if I look from a German perspective, they could create a quite big network. With Frankfurt - Fulda they could add roundabout 25 KM from Hanau to Aschaffenburg (Connecting to Main-Spessert-Bahn and Maintallbahn). With an remaster of Main-Spessert-Bahn the branch to Würzburg could be added (to have a second connection to Kassel - Würzburg). With an DLC it would be possible to connect Mannheim - Kaiserslautern to Frankfurt via Mainz (Connecting also Koblenz - Mainz in Linke Rheinstrecke). With an DLC (Schnellfahrstrecke Köln - Frankfurt) a connection from Schnellfahrstrecke Aachen - Köln would be possible to Frankfurt. With an DLC Augsburg- München could be connected with Rosenheim - Salzburg, but that could be too short and boring. Maybe something really interesting for our Dutch and Belgium friends would be LIMAX (Liège-Maastricht-Aachen-Express). It connects three countries and would be really something different. It is also called Dreiländerzug/Drielandentrein/train des trois pays. When I remember correctly they could use the Koploper from Zwolle - Groningen and Flirt from Sursee - Luzern.
It makes sense to bring routes in that you can Route Hop to.. and if the rolling stock, major station/s are already modelled then it makes even more sense. A good example would be at Edinburgh, where you can effectively switch between the Glasgow route and the Fife Circle one. If you chose the Glasgow one, upon arrival there, you would then have an option to Route Hop onto the Cathcart Circle route. They may even think to prioritise making a new route that links two existing routes, so you can then Hop between all three. Perhaps a Birmingham to Derby, or Leicester.. or Nottingham to Lincoln via Newark..
The only downside is that you'll ONLY be getting "modern" routes from then on, since other eras won't "fit" the timetables/era/rolling stock. And some areas will be "off limits" without doing a different "era." For example the Manchester-Leeds NTP line is mid-1980s so you will only be able to connect that to 1980s lines for them to "fit." At some point the network just won't connect because the "1980" routes won't fit with the "2020s" routes.
This is a case of “we’ll have to wait and see”. We don’t know what routes merge with what right now. Hopefully they will shed more light on this during the mid-week stream. I can’t imagine with different eras routes you’ll be able to route hop. They’ll have to be some sense to it and what works.
A Birmingham-Sheffield via Derby route would be a great addition to the MML, Or a Leicester-Bedford, Or Lincoln-Nottingham. Actually Lincoln-Nottingham would be fantastic as it would also connect with ECML
