What Is The Fastest Way To Get To Next Level (25k Ap) For Freight Train Routes?

While I get for passenger routes...

#1 One could find out what time a train service stops at the second to last station.

#2 Spawn on foot at that station before the train gets there (even if that means five minutes before).

#3 Then either (depending on the type of train)

a) When that train gets there, get on board and then save the game

OR

b) Save the game

#4 Take over the service

#5 Go back to main menu and resume from last save.

#6 Repeat steps 4 and 5 over and over again until it is earned.

What is the fastest way to get to next level (25K AP) for freight train routes, like SMH and on CRR?

The greed for Action Points makes people do very strange things...

 

This is for Achievement(s)/trophy(ies) only that I have no earned yet.

 

Obviously, anyone can play the game in any way, but surely the best way to play the game, and in fact get the trophies, is by playing the whole service as not only is this a major point of the game, but also, surely, what were envisioned to have to be done to achieve the trophies by those who set them, so you actually have to challenge yourself and work towards them.

 

So in other words, the fastest way is by cheating.

 

If you want to get action points quickly, ignore freight completely and go for a commuter line with multiple stops. Bakerloo fits that bill, in a 40 minute run from Elephant and Castle to Harrow you will probably get > 20k points, versus spending 100 minutes slogging across Clinchfield or Sherman Hill and getting 4K points.

If you insist on using freight then find a run or scenario with many objectives rather than just an end to end run which just gives points for staying under the speed limit, plus the odd waypoint en route.

 

BTW... you don't need 25k AP to reach next level. If I'm not mistaken, 1 level consists of 15k AP.

 

While for passenger trains you can game the system to an extent to complete services and levels, for freight you pretty much actually have to play the game.

If you look in the timetable, every service shows how long it should take, it also shows the score needed to achieve gold. Divide the score by time and you will get an idea of which services are the most efficient for popping trophies.

 

In addition, a scenario with lots of defined objectives will supplement the distance based AP (though not all objectives completed give AP)

 

I'll never understand the rush to get points in games like this. It's pretty meaningless.

I enjoyed watching people buy modded accounts in Forza Horizon 5, where they drive around with prestige 10*2999 above their cars.... Until they all got permanent account bans from the game developers when other players mass reported them.

I am level 268 after 6 years playing Train Sim World, and not losing sleep over it.

 

Someone on the Steam forums asked what would happen upon unlocking all Achievements ("seven left!"). Answer was "Nothing". Lol.

 

Here is how to unlock EVERY Steam PC achievement, without even playing the game or buying a single DLC

1) Buy Train Sim World 4

2) You don't have to even install the game.

3) Install Steam Aceivement Manager.

4) Open Steam on your PC, then open SAM.

5) Select TSW4 in SAM, then simply click "UNLOCK ALL" in the achievement menu.

6) Instantly unlock all 4,000+ TSW4 achievements in less than 5 seconds.

7) Become depressed and wonder what went so badly wrong in your life, that made you so obsessed with video game achievements.

8) Get a Steam and/or DTG account ban, when they find out that you have hacked your achievements.

9) Depression intensifies.

Of course, everyone's free to use a game for their own means. Just reading "you have to actually play the game" to get AP sounds a little - depressing.

 

You would think a forum about such a niche hobby as ours would be free of gatekeeping nonsense like this.

If video game achievements is your number one priority in life. It's kinda safe to assume that a few fuses may have blown somewhere, or the rabbit working the controls has gone AWOL.

 

It's not that strange if people playing a train sim as their hobby allow themselves to comment on people that are looking for a way to avoid playing the game for levelling up quickly - it looks as if they're more interested in points than driving, that's all. Nobody stopping them though, just wondering a bit.

 

It would be more pertinent if the accumulation of AP actually led to something worthwhile. However, it does come across as if all the fluff like AP, collectibles and mastery were put in there as an afterthought because they had to show off some sort of gaming element. Just like Journey mode, if you actually manage to find a route where at least one of the elements isn’t banjaxed and finish the entire sequence, you don’t even get a screen or pop up to acknowledge the fact. Basically AP becomes a …. measuring contest and little more with, as I noted earlier, so much inequality between different types of route and its distribution as to not even be a worthwhile demonstration of your skill.

TSC does it better where each career mode scenario has a maximum potential of 1000 XP and it’s downhill from there, particularly if you run late and the author didn’t bother to change the default punitive parameters. Even MSFS couldn’t stay away from the need to award points and have players level up!

 

I wish there were a way to disable action points completely....

Just a simple tick to acknowledge completion of the task would satisfy me.

 

Well you can do that in TSC with career mode, switch off the scoring though of course you will still fail the scenario if you mess up an objective.

For RT there is an Achievement/trophy of Completed all of the available services.

There is very high total (like 442) of them. Each of the services is 1 hour plus (for example 1:15)

So you are saying to get that Achievement/trophy I have to spend 442 plus hours in TSW2/TSW3 vs of taking over the service at the either the last station OR the second to last station and then drive/operate to the last station?

Especially when considering for TSW2 I had to complete other route services to earn an Achievement/trophy for them (ex MSB) ?

What do you mean really, of course I were being real otherwise I wouldn't say it. I honestly do not get the point of taking over a service for, say, 5 minutes just to get an achievement.
Personally, I say what is the point of achievements in this game at all, but seeing as they are there, then yes spending 442 hours is what has to be done to get the trophy. Honestly though I don't know why you feel you had to do those services, why don't you just enjoy the game playing routes and services that you like, rather than working towards, what in my eyes are, pointless achievements.

 

You are right I do not have to earn the Achievement/trophy but if I wanted to earn it, cheating is better than doing the who service.

Under achiever… you should be aiming for platinum….

 

in my book, achievements are pretty worthless to begin with… to cheat to get an achievement would even make it more worthless but hey, if that floats your boat, go forth and cheat all you want for a totally meaningless victory.

 

For OSD:

#1 Play all Scenarios

#2 When you play Equipment Move Scenario

a) Save the game just before the four go via locations.

b) After you get the Equipment Move Scenario done, go back to main menu and resure save over and over again until you get the level 20 achievement/trophy.

For SMH:

a) Play all Scenarios

b) Do S-D40-2 8:44 service

c) When you see the next 2nd command is to stop at Cheyenne Refinery Siding 6:

For TSWx < TSW4 (read: Less than TSW4).

#1 walk to where the train needs to couple to the five vechicles.

#2 Wait until give up service shows.

#3 Say yes.

#4 Board train and soon as it is there.

#5 After AI train stops at Cheyenne Refinery Siding 6, save the game and take over service.

Should look like this (Sometimes male AI and other times, female AI - Does not matter)



#6 Go back to main menu and resure save over and over again until you get the level 20 achievement/trophy.

For CRR, I do not know yet since I got the trophy for SMH in TSW2 and I am working on getting the achievement/trophy for SMH in TSW3 and TSW4 (and only need 25K AP vs starting at level 1 since I imported TSW2 progress into TSW3 and TSW4).

[EDIT] TSW4 is slighty different. A) while TSWx < TSW4 you get 250 points for coupling or uncoupling, TSW4 you get 750 points.

b) as long as you are not doing any Scenarios or training, you can set the path. See https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/answered-setting-a-route-in-free-roam.73570/

-> That last part means you set the path so the train needs either needs to go nowhere or few yards forward or backwards and then stop.

c) do not take over any service that is started. Only take over on foot for any service that you can not complete by journey or by service.

 

While I know that I can re-edit my post.

a) For services completed on RT, I only needed to complete 127 services to get all services trophy/achievement on my PS4 not 442

b) For CRR for TSWx </= TSW2 (read: Less than or equal to TSW2).

#1 Complete all training and Scenarios.

#2 Then do S-D40-2 Nora Turn Part 8 - Run Around

#3 When you see the listed commands of..

a) Couple to formation (32 vechicles)

b) Stop at location as indicated

c) Couple to formation (1 vechicles)

-> Walk to where the train connects the rest of train.



#4 Wait until give up service shows.

#5 Say yes.

#6 Board train and soon as it is there.

#7 Before the train connects to the caboose, save the game.

#8 Take over service.

#9 Go back to main menu and resure save over and over again until you get the level 20 achievement/trophy.
