Depends if a joke is original and funny.

Just imagine yourself being a member of the DTG staff. You're not used to this. Anyway, they ask you to take part in a stream presenting the product. And someone uses largely this footage for being "funny", showing you in an awkward cut or moment.

I doubt you would be happy about this. Especially if it's done by someone who is part of a community you are offering access to. I'd refrain from appearing on the next stream. DTG, engage some paid actors now.

We got idiots crashing TSW trains on Youtube. I don't like that. Licensors don't either.
We got idiots mocking employees.

We got no respect anymore, I think that's the problem. All people want is attention and clicks. And the idea of humour is actually tied to respect, without respect, it's just a cheap joke.

Yes, I'm occasionally posting funny Rik Mayall or John Dunsworth gifs. They were ingenious actors. DTG's employees are not, they are private persons.

YTP - YouTube Poop.
It's a type of spoof video that stitches clips from something (+ memes or whatnot) together for the sake of comedy or parody, or just taking the piss.

Myron is not claiming all content on YouTube / the Internet breaks copyright laws; much the same way that everyone in this thread shouldn't be claiming he does. That's Dovetail's decision to make.

 

Ah that makes sense... Im to old for such abbreviations.... But it make no sense against the whole discussion about his behavior against DTG and that such videos not fun at all and try to get attention with content that not is created by him. The problem is on YT that this seems like a new norm to create this kind of bizar videos for only attention.

Super cringey and middle school banter. These are the kind of videos my 14 year nephew makes on his YT channel. Fits that age group though.

Although it's not my cup of tea and I think its not particularly that funny, people are welcome to make parody videos or whatever they want. Thats upto them...

It's the constant disrespect and attention seeking this member does, it may be funny to some viewing this as a single event, but when this member continously disrespects this forum, posts leaks of unreleased content, goes out of their way to 'stir the pot' so to speak, it is just irritates some off us as some try hard who goes out of their way to be completely annoying. It's a collection of events, not just a single post... So yes we have a sense of humour, but, we also have boundaries and morals...

 

YTP's are far from a "new" norm - very much a 2010s thing.

They usually use films (Star Wars is the best example I can think of), but Myron has decided to use Dovetail Direct.

Viewapp even saw the funny side of the thing; so I think we should all calm down.

(On the other hand I fully agree that Myron personally should reign it in, especially with the leaks - although he didn't* leak the stuff himself.)

The people who so bravely "defend" the DTG Employes/and others should maybe also stop attacking Myron personally. I don't like that double standard.

You can disagree and you can criticize the video but there are limits.

 

That was the most shameful action that they have done.... It was a big mistake and they have to know better. But they likely did not know who this guy was.....

 

What is more than disagree? Who is attacking him? And he is asking for attention than you take the risk that is not what he was asking for right? Its also written that this is not the first time and he has warings enough that he was not on a good way

 

Not aware and really interested in the YTP concept, but nomen est omen it seems.

To cheer up, here's a way to create really original content out of existing stuff. An hommage, not mockery.

Let me be clear youre no cent better than tswfan24... You had made the decision to not sent it to public places but instead you had to inform DTG about the intention from tswfan24.... Nothing more... So hiding you behind tswfan24 with the intention "its not my fault" is extremely shameful and that little respect that you had is now for sure away... What for a fake world are you living in?! It's a parody video. Obviously it's meant to be a joke and not serious. Thanks for proving my point though

I think in the end it's for the individuals whose footage was being used to decide if they think it's funny or not. It's a clear violation of the updated Code of Conduct on the forums, though technically not on Youtube. (Fair Use percentage of original content vs new is another thing.)

I just wouldn't do that as a member of DTG's forum. If you're entering someone else's house, you respect their rules. Or at least show a bit of remorse, which you never did. Jeez. Bruh. Someone at DTG must be very protective of you.

And then, "being boring at parties" is a bit of an oppressive "killer argument". Let's say Jan doesn't like how he's being represented. He's now risking being accused of having no humour upon eventually striking the vid. No one wants to be boring, so everyone should allow others making cheap shots fun of you?

The video is live, so deal with critics. You like the attention you're getting again I presume.

 

Yup. The kind interpretation is a complete lack of acumen for the business interests of the company that they were engaged with. The less kind interpretation is an abdication of responsibility towards those interests. Either way, I probably wouldnt want to associate my brand with that kind of lack of thought, or awareness.

 

Honestly, I doubt DTG hardly care. It's not the first time that there has been a DTG parody before. I remember the class 66 parody which was funny. At the end of the day, it's not supposed to be serious but unfortunately there are those that are clearly too sensitive to a joke even if they try to claim otherwise

Decision's up to DTG. It wasn't you that was being made fun of. We're only exchanging our thoughts here, as this was opened as a discussion thread.

Of course DTG have to deal with this all the time, the point is more that it was a member of their own community. I wouldn't wanna stream any more if I was in their shoes, but maybe that's just me. I think also Maik Goltz has good reasons for not appearing on QA streams. Everyone's personal choice to step into the public world, where everything's reused for getting clicks.

 

The fact is you've completely missed out the point... your lecturing me on me 'not having a sense of humour', or 'proving your point', when the point at hand has been articulately explained to you personally, and generally in other posts, that's if you have bothered to read them? If you can't understand them that's your problem and not mine, but they are their if you wish to re read them...

Yep. About the video alone... Exactly my point. My argument is this member is continously plaguing the forum with their attention seeking behaviour outside of the video too.

 

Gents and Ladies, Im genuinely laughing now at the absurdity of this thread. Is there any chance we could maybe call it a day? I think both positions are suitably presented, and if the video is indeed no longer up then further discourse seems to be headed only one way..
Maybe a little comedy is in order here too? Ive been doing my best but Im not as naturally gifted as others here clearly are..

 

So a person is not allowed to posts parodies or jokes because it is just them seeking attention? I could argue that is the case for any form of media, video game company or content creators these days. Perhaps I should interpert a forum post as someone seeking attention. That doesn't make it a bad thing so again, I don't agree with your points.

Some of you really need to get out the house more often or at least maybe catch up on internet culture, it's almost 2025.

At no point is there any disrespect shown on the video - its a YTP, it's intentionally poking fun at whatever the original video is based off of and for the most part in a light hearted way.

Whilst I don't condone what Myron did previously, he truly lives rent free in some peoples heads...

Ive actually heard it described as The New Intolerance. Im very taken with that phrase, although worried too for the sake of society and the trajectory its currently on. Vibrant disagreement though I feel is fine, and in general a lot of whats been said has been taken in pretty good humour here.

Bit off topic but Daniel from ViewApp might be Austrian and it’s quite funny to see we have the same accent when pronouncing certain words.
I’m quite happy to know I’m not the only one saying “Jiday” the same hehe.

I can see here some people having different view, like it might be offensive to “mock” their accent but judging by ViewApp’s comment on his video, they took it the other way.

I know there is a lot content on YT thats not legal used but that gives no proof to due it and say "its a culture to do"... No hate to you but thats a little strange what you claimed earlier i think

 

I mean look at this way, it might also bring people to watch the actual direct too. It truly isn't this deep and clearly has gone straight over you and others heads. Even a dev commented on the video as they feature in it. Did you see that they didn't scathe Myron nor scream for him to take it down? They did in fact not. Do you know why? Because they found it funny, nothing more.

Move on people.

 

I cant believe how offended people are by this video. Its just a funny take, if you dont see it, you are probably taking things too seriously. Not everyone has the same sense of humor, which is OK, but the level of criticism here is simply excessive. Its a joke, lighten up.

Regarding the leaks, blaming Myron for everything is ridiculous. DTG should be the ones ensuring confidentiality, not Myron. Everyone is shifting the blame onto someone who simply shared what was already leaked. If you are going to criticize someone, target the right people instead of piling on Myron just because its convenient.

 

Look I think we all need to call a truce between each other. Myself and others have stated our opinions, agreeing and disagreeing. But as it has been pointed out it's getting a bit silly now and I agree.

Taking Myron out of the equation, most of us would get on. I think both sides are now catered for with their opinions.

I totally agree with you though for the most part. I think DTG just got super unlucky with someone breaching the NDA prior to the direct. It's going to happen a handful of times over a games development course, not that makes it excusable of course.
