I really appreciate the FREE route remasters dovetail has been doing. After two british remasters and a third one beeing in the works (GWE, great choice!), I would ask DTG to give the old German routes some love. I see three candidates here for a major overhaul: - Haupstrecke Rhein-Ruhr - Aschaffenburg-Gemünden - Leipzig - Dessau (first German route) All of these have the old Tod system, the timetables don´t hold up to todays standards and the scenery is not great. Aschaffenburg-Gemünden definitly has most rolling stock in game these days. A DB twindex would be a great Loco DLC to go along with a remaster. The new ICE-T runs the line every 2 hours towards Wien, but branches off at Nantenbach to the Kassel-Würzburg Highspeed (shame they never made the connection here). BR 425 also runs a lot of regional services this year on the line. Besides the Twindex, we have everything there really. The route has old Spessart Tunnel though. Would need the new one, the connection via Highspeed to Würzburg and a major scenery upgrade in total. Maybe too much to ask. Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr could do with Tod4 and a new timetable. I´m not sure if the scenery is good on this, because I don´t drive it much. Also there have been calles in the past for an extension towards Düsseldorf or Dortmund for this, because it´s such a short experience. Also more likely to become a paid thing, if they do something with it. So we are left with the first German Leipzig-Dessau route. New Timetable, Tod 4 and maybe some scenery improvements? The route length is fine, as it stands. Maybe this might be the most likely candidate? It´s the oldest german route and from what I read on the forums, no one uses it anymore. It´s never even mentioned. What are everyones thoughts?
Don't forget Dresden - Riesa had an upgrade with TSW 4. But I agree, especially HRR (and RRO for that matter) could use some love.
I would like to see Koln-Aachen remastered and Hamburg-Lubeck, especially after the class 218 release.
RRO would benefit from the track gradients smoothing and some signalling issues sorted, the one that stops a G6 scenario being completed for example, but that might be outside what can technically be done on a remaster.
i would go for hamburg -lubeck updated to the 2023 timetable ice1 and ice-t and flextrain and the n-wagon
RSN and RRO really deserve remaster treatment. RSN is still a top route for me with so much more potential to give.
RSN is from a German view, a very "sleepy" route. For starters: it ends in the middle of nowhere (aka Finnentrop). In reality the line has regional services run by Flirt 1 and Flirt 3 (both not in TSW), the IC 2 runs a intercity a couple of times a day (also not in the game). Besides that, there is DB freight traffic. Unlike other routes, it does not have much of the usual MRCE/Railpool privat German freight traffic. It has no ICE, no S-Bahn, no Flixtrain. The three routes I mentioned, all have significant traffic running on them and could be very busy with reworked timetables. RSN may have some nice scenery, but has nothing else going for it.
Please don't forget most route remasters are personal projects, that people are doing in their free time. That means they mostly do what they like, so if they prefer UK-routes, it is far more likely, they will remaster UK-routes.
UK routes better (JOKE) From the German routes I’d like to see: •Tharandter Rampe: Dresden - Chemnitz •Ruhr-Sieg Nord •Hauptstrecke Hamburg - Lűbeck It does seem German content doesn’t get much love when it comes to route remasters. It would be nice if there was someone passionate over on TSG side who could work on German routes, as we already have a Brit (Liam) who tackles the UK routes. I’m hoping Rivet give him their blessing and let him remaster the WCL next.
HRR for me. It's a really critical route for the InterCity / ICE network, but TSW would have you believe it's a small regional line with S-Bahn and the occasional InterCity service - which for some reason has a needlessly high number of platforms. The lighting isn't great on HRR, either. A new timetable could bring in a really good number of ICE services; using the ICE1, 3, 3M and T as appropriate; InterCity services (as well as an opportunity to perhaps simplify the Cab Car and add it to the 101, remastering that alongside it's home route, or at the very least just bring the Expert 101 to HRR) could be expanded upon and, of course, the route could make use of the abundance of new regional stock found in the game. I'm working on a suggestion for this myself. It's one route i particularly feel deserves it, along with NTP for the UK.
Unless of course, they can remaster a route, plus add onto it to resell it as a new route. As the case was with LIRR 2.0
I guess as Liam is doing the remasters in his own time as a project of love, he gets to decide the routes that are remastered not us.
I like this thread, but I also have a suggestion for it: If you say you want a revamp of route x, can you specify what exactly should be changed? That'd help the devs a lot. For example I'd love to see an upgrades HRR. That would incline Scenery update on the Essen Skyline Scenery update around Bochum Hbf More clutter on the stations Tod4 Making Duisburg Hbf more... Damaged, as it was like that in reality Changing the tracks in Essen Waldhausen. They're actually a few metres below the main track and not on the same level New timetable including the long distance trains
I don't know much about German railways so for me a TOD4 upgrade and maybe a new timetable, especially if there are newer releases which could layer in. Obviously any glaring errors would hopefully be fixed.
DTG said with WSL that they were looking into remasters but so far, apparently, they haven't found a fincancial angle to make it work. Existing owners wouldn't want to buy the same route again but a remaster still costs money if done during work hours. If they can bundle it with a new game release (SEHS extension, DRA upgrade) or release it as new route (LIRR 2.0), they are more likely to do it.
Actually, I like the idea of MSB, with this new route hopping feature it would make some sense, having the ICE-T on MSB, driving it from Aschaffenburg to Lohr Bahnhof, use the route hopping feature to change to SKW, and drive the rest of this service on SKW to Würzburg...I know the scenery on the part Lohr Bahnhof - Rohrbach Bbf (mainly Nantenbacher Kurve) is only basically modelled on SKW and maybe you would need to have an unprototypical service stop at Lohr Bahnhof, but me, I would like the idea (actually, I sometimes do it in free roam today, just for the fun of it...). And MSB, all in all, as somehow an all-time classic route, wouldn't be a wrong choice for a remaster, I thinnk.
My own opinion for what it’s worth is that the old routes should be raided for new expansions. Case in point: SKW should be expanded to include the local route from Würzburg to Fulda and the high speed connection to the MSB mainline, which would be modernized to include the new tunnel. Also, DRA should be expanded to Leipzig which can absorb the existing Rapid Transit DLC.
Would even buy that as a new route. We'd have one RE from end-to-end, good distance for IC/ICE services and two S-Bahn systems. Würzburg-Fulda local route together with SKW would be great and add a lot of playability, especially together with route hopping.
If anything had to be remastered, that'd probably be RT, in my opinion. Yes routes like RSN suffer from a lack of rolling stock variety (but, having replayed it recently to collect all tasks, doesn't even really need a visuals upgrade at all IMO) and HRR is kind of ridiculously short for what it could've been, being where it is, but RT is truly the one DLC I never end up going back to, personally. Pretty buggy in terms of all mechanics from signaling to what in 2024 amounts to a nightmare of a Talent to operate. The stock variety is also pretty much zilch, although I don't know how that compares to real life. Add to that, it'd have the perfect addition of the ground floor HBF as a feature requested by many over the years... In the end though, I agree, this is a topic for wishes. These remasters are usually just passion projects and that'll be what determines who's next.
I was thinking the same thing, that it would be nice to have a German DLC remaster. I think Ruhr Sieg Nord or Rhein-Ruhr Osten would be ideal, but if DTG put a little work into it, they could merge the two tracks, and to make it financially worthwhile they could charge a minimum amount of money. We've seen in other games that they charge a money to merge two routes. Matt said a long time ago that you can do the merge because it's based on realistic coordinates, "just" need to rework things like signaling, timetable, etc., and of course fix the two old routes to the current standard, one of which is 6 years old. I think everyone would be happy with that and it would be a really good route.
Maybe it is an unpopular opinion, but I even would pay for a remastered route. I think I've stated this already somewhere else, but think of it: Looking back at some legacy routes could also open them for more than TOD and assets improvements. There could be expansions, maybe throw a branch or two into this remastering. Charge that for owners of the route with 20 - 25 Euros, I would totally buy that.
Clearly a remaster for a routd with "old" timetable, so it can be upgraded in the lightening + services. I like to drive hrr, but without static stock and a.i services its only half the experience
I want more routes for the DB BR 218, the Diesel n-wagen, and the BR DB 628, so please remaster/extension of HBL, so we are including branches for the 628, and we are extending the route to Kiel so the 218 do more than one stop.
HRR+MSB would be great. Both with an expansion, HRR to Düsseldorf, Dortmund and Hagen, MSB to Würzburg and with the new route hopping there would be so many possibilities. New timetables with additional traffic and more possible rolling stock could make those routes great again
Same here, but when I need to pay again it needs to be perfect on launch day and not be released in June or July as TSW6 will make the remaster obsolete again because of missing new features a few weeks after release.
My second choice for remaster is munich - augsburg!! Its time for a Br420, which i think is ready by tsg, but not released because the route would need an update
