Gwe Remaster: Appreciation And Discussion Thread

This is looking to be absolutely fantastic, great job as always Liam! A few pointless questions that are not particularly important, I understand if they cannot be answered.

Will any pseudo D-Stock trains run along the Hammersmith and City Line between Paddington and Westbourne Park?

Have you considered substituting Heathrow Connect 360s with Unbranded 350s?

Will it be possible to walk around the concourse at Paddington as opposed to just the platforms?

The GWE needed a remaster which I actually called for last week. Its a great route which has great potential now after being pretty boring for years.

 

Personally this would be just a bit too far of a stretch for the imagination.

 

Will this remaster include the new track shadows?

 

I do have a quick question for you Liam. Will the HST, 166 and 66 receive the new diesel exhaust smoke as seen on JT's 142 and 47s or will it still be the old style?

 

We should all thank DTG Liam for the tremendous work on this remaster, which doesn't just add graphic improvements but even new trains for the route in new liveries. The line is going to be so much busier and interesting now. Once again he, and his helpers, have dramatically improved an older route. I now find myself wondering what he has planned next? Thanks for all your hard work mate.

Ah fair enough, it were worth asking though. Nice that they have had some update to the effects, look forward to seeing it.

 

At the moment, it feels almost like a revival of the much-loved and missed Preservation Crew! It is truly amazing!

 

It's going to feel like a brand new route. Thanks to Liam and all for their efforts.

TSW5 is looking promising.

 

Apologies if these questions have already been asked, but will the GSMR work for both trains with the remaster..?
Also - will we be able to open the 166s cab windows at last or is that still unfortunately not do-able?

You reckon they could get away with adding all the details of the liveries but just not add logos?

That would be nice but I suppose although it's not necessarily their logo, unlike a colour, that could be trademarked.. as their own design/pattern or something?
I don't know a thing about copyrighting/trademarking so I'm more than likely wrong though.

Ah okay, good to hear about the GSM-R, I assume to enable opening windows to the 166 it would require an entire model change so I take it that's not been done (which is fine - I can't complain in the slightest with all the other upgrades you've done!)

Exactly what I thought about the design, as much as it would be nice it is effectively a distinct part of their livery, so I wasn't expecting it to be possible. Still, having the general paint scheme is great and really good to have! Really looking forward to this update coming; can't wait!!

Also why is the FGT that you can spawn in through free roam not used for the remaster? I understand for licensing With GWR and FGW

Strictly speaking it does exist as First Group still run the franchise. They just (understandably) change the branding. I can see why they are reluctant to licence the FGW branding and livery though there were still trains in the old branding during the period of the original 2015/16 timetable.

As the new timetable is 2017, I would assume that most, if not all, trains will have carried the new branding by then.

Please add the 166 in FGW blue to free roam that’s not just one coach this is not in formation designer either.

Not expecting any names Liam but do you have another remaster in mind after GWE is finished?

 

Quick questions about the FGW 166 and HST:

• Do they have the interiors from the cut branded versions?
• Leading on from that, would it theoretically be possible to replace the liveries on them directly with the branded versions, without using the livery designer (as a PC mod obviously)?
• While the FGW HST was removed when the HST received livery designer compatibility, the Class 166 was not, at least in TSW3. Assuming the mod that activates it still works in TSW5, would the new unbranded 166 replace the unlocked original version?

 

Another question added for Liam. Will the 166 receive livery designer capabilities? Thanks.

 

Also, this may seem obvious but will the 387 (both GWR and HX) be playable services or Ai only?

 

Heathrow Express would be non stop between Paddington and Heathrow so it's AI only.

 

Liam in future will the unbranded HST from GWE remaster appear on timetable mode on ECML route in TSW 5 unlicensed as the Hull Trains service actually who actually hired them from GWR in 2019 the same year Azuma was introduced to ECML for LNER?

They could add the Elizabeth line From Heathrow between Hayes & Arlington, West Ealing, Ealing Broadway and Paddington.

I think that the Class 345s came after 2017 so probably not. Also, it's Hayes and Harlington with a H.

 

Modders will just slap this on the base layer anyway, I expect to see a full FGW livery in Creators Club

 

Not even close. A very small number of HSTs carried them, and I don't think any 166s at all had them.

That's why I'm hoping there will be a way to completely turn off the green livery. Apart from it being incredibly dull, I barely remember seeing any in 2017.

Yep even near the end of 2017 there were some green but it wasn't anywhere close to the amount of blue, last year I saw 166s still with full FGW branding and EVEN now I still know of some trains running FGW blue although they are just 150s but that's still 8!! years after the rebrand started.

Unfortunately this is not happening. The route is set in the completely wrong era for that. GWE is set before Cross Rail and TfL Rail was even a thing. We don’t even have the 345 in TSW to start off with.

 

Liam actually confirmed further back in this thread that there would be depot moves for the HX 387 but that the actual services would just be AI.
