The physical stop signal isn't until three blocks away yet my cab signal is already displaying a red with a 20 mph restriction.
The cab signal is restricted, not stop; it's not an aspect that fits into the three on the HUD (although yellow would be closest I guess). If you are required to come to a full stop the in cab signal will be two red lights. Be aware that on some tracks, such as in New York, trains can enter occupied blocks, so you'll need to drive on sight while you have a restricted aspect and be ready to stop if you encounter another train. More detailed explanations are in this thread: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/us-signal-rules-explained-with-diagrams.61808/
Yes, they're broken in many cases. This being one of them. Your cab signal shouldn't be restricting in advance of a Clear signal.
I bought this route recently , how come the signalling is so bugged ? After playing lirr 2 it’s quite a let down .
Hopefully cActUsjUiCe can work his magic on the route like he did with Boston-Providence. It might take time though.
I have mentioned a few times that I am willing to fix the signal issues with New York to Trenton, provided the price is right. I won't do it for free like I did for Boston to Providence.
This illustrates the point that myself and others have always made about NYT: as a flagship route for the US, and probable entry point for new players, it was advisable to get it right from the start. Sure, a new player probably won't use cab signals, but might become interested in them as they advance, only to find out that the cab signals are broken. That is why, even after all this time, it still behooves DTG to fix this issue, especially considering they apparently have an offer on the table. I haven't heard anything about this from DTG for a long time; the last thing I remember is Matt saying that the cab signals were "looking too far ahead." We might also note that the recent patch to fix the alerters did not fix the alerters, and DTG haven't said anything about that either. One thing I will say is that, even if the cab signals are fixed, the problems with red aspects at the end of your run, such as at Trenton and Rahway, and "dispatch beyond" reds, such as at Newark, will still remain. So, you will still have to slow down unnecessarily, but not as far out, and at least the cab signals and wayside signals should align. The big question is how there issues will affect the new MBTA route.
It’s a shame because the actual route scenery is good and the timetable is quite nice . The reviews on steam were so negative I almost didn’t buy it , but I got it on a sale . If the signalling was fixed it could be a very good route . Pity they couldn’t have fixed it before including it in the TSW 5 special edition.
