This will be my first game update in TSW, moving from TSW4 to TSW5. I am now faced with having to re download all of my DLC's and any 3rd party mods I have installed from Train Sim Community. This, as I am sure all customers and players will agree is a major inconvenience.

Question 1 for DTG Team:- Why do you put your customer base through this time consuming process.
Question 2 Are you doing anything in the future to the base game that will make it an automatic process to add existing owned DLC's. I understand that 3rd party mods would not transfer and would need to be modified to the next version.

There have been some really major changes to Euro Truck Sim2 and American Truck Sim produced by SCS over the years. However, players have never had to re download and reinstall any SCS produced DLC's.

All DLC content, game and control settings, player history and player profiles are carried forward into the new game version automatically.

    So it is achievable.

It's because, even though they're the same, they're technically different.

All the DLCs have to be recooked for the new TSW version. It would be nice if we could just copy them over, but that's not how it works.

(I'm sure the whole recooking/retesting process isn't much fun for DTG either.)

    Hi
    aeronautic237

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. Sadly I do not have the time to sit through the streams.

Not even the 6 minute timestamp I put in at the top? Alex goes through the financial benefits of a new game, and Matt goes through the developer side.

Only when a new US freight route appears do I click on Train Sim World.

I did watch the section, I think you misunderstood, I do not have time to sit through the entire stream when it is shown live.

I think I still misunderstand. Are you explaining why you didn't watch the stream in the first place? If so, there's no need. Even I didn't watch it live, and it would be unreasonable to expect everyone to watch the entire roadmap stream. It is very long after all.

I asked this question during last night's stream.. With the Starter Pack (which will be availble with the all 3 versions of the game), all your DLCs you currently own will be transfered to TSW5 automatically when it is claimed instead of re-downloading them one by one which (for players like me that have been playing since the original TSW) was a pain in the rear

since I got Deluxe, I guess I will have to hook up cable to the router to have reasonable download time lol (router is in different room and I cannot make any drilling/holes in the wall or doors to get a cable through nor have I a way to stop ppl tripping over the cable since it would be on the way to kitchen lol)

I don't know why I like American trains, especially freight trains. Will DTG add more American lines to next year's trains?

thanks to some very insightful US rail youtubers, I kinda grew more appreciative of US passenger stuff, they do what they can despite politics and such... and locos/trains like Siemens Charger, BrightLine (streamlined Siemens sets with locos) or Stadler KISS (US spec) look so good :)

hopefully.. TBH, TSW doesn't have many (if any) American 3rd party developers so it really is down to if DTG or any 3rd party devs want to bring a US route to TSW. The issue with that is that DTG (and the majority of the TSW 3rd parties) are based in the UK meaning that they can't easily go out to the actual route.

Whislt, I only play on UK Routes, I do believe that TSW needs to give the UK and DE a break and start 'going ham' on bringing American Routes to the game.

I think that is the problem, the lack of 3rd party developers in the States. The costs involved in airline travel and accommodating a DGT team would be high, and it would take several trips to gather all information.

DTG need to find partners State side.

The cost isn't the issue. Lack of 3rd parties and lack of access/licenses is the main issue

exactly! We have TSGermany doing stricly German DLC and we have plenty of British Devs and yet no American Devs. We have got a 3rd party dev from Japan before The States! Are there any TS developers who do strictly American DLC?

One tip is if you’re on Steam, don’t tick all the content at once. Do it in batches otherwise if you come off the PC before finishing it doesn’t resume but goes right back to the start again.

There are plenty of devs in tsc making US content but many haven't joined tsw. One reason is that it is not financially viable. Some teams are very small or are 1 person teams so the return on investment is really low. There's also the additional costs to give to the publishers, licensing and much more

High Iron Simulations are already "committed" to TSW content, but they are still working on TSC projects atm. Their team has the likes of other TSC developers like DTM and Reppo, as well as G-trax and Great Northerner.

Problem is, they haven't posted anything related to their TSW developments, and keep milking the TSC crowd with their projects over there.

Milepost simulations, a long time TSC route maker, is supposedly moving over to TSW after his current Milwaukee Road route, but that's probably not coming out till 2025, meaning at minimum, we'll see a route from Milepost in 2026 or 2027.

Machine Rail and Diesel Workshops seem committed to TSC ATM and have no desires to make TSW content.

Searchlight Simulations have ill will to DTG and will not develop for TSW, with their future focused on SimRail instead.

Smokebox probably wont develop any steam locos from TSW, due to DTG's poor steam implementation.

Its also worth noting, of everyone listed above, I believe only half of the HIS group and most of the Searchlight Simulations group, are actual in the US. Most others are either in South America or Europe..

Well, even after the release of the public editor, there soon have been quite a lot community projects creating british and german stuff, and even some projects from not the usual countries (like, I think, Portugal or Italy for example). I don't think, I've read about an american project there. Maybe, Toronto Subway, I think (I know,it's not the US...)? Sometimes, it seems like Brandon/cactusjuice is the only american interested in creating 'own' american stuff...
