Forthcoming from Skyhook Games are further additions to the popular Cargo Line freight series of gameplay packs. What are people's thoughts on these, personally I have positive experiences with the first 2 packs. The MML Route has also become much busier with these.
I look forward to anything that adds modern UK freight to the game and the first packs they created are really good.
I hope we get a of pack of all 4 in future. I still don’t have the first 2 but i’d like to see some more freight variety (depending on what routes it adds to)
The first two were ridiculous cash grabs but for the cargo line 3 it actually brings something Original and unique also it is something i have been wanting for ages
First two were excellent and added a lot to the routes they came out for. As long as the next two add a similar amount of scenarios and timetable services to routes I like, I’ll definitely get them.
The first two packs were brilliant, especially Aggregates which I now view as one of the UK essentials. I am seriously looking forward to the next two editions. Cargo Line thus far hasn't been a place to get new locos (Vol.1 reworked the 66's lighting, Vol.2 reused) but ahead of the release of Vol.2 I wonder if we may get something a bit new? A new loco may be reaching, but perhaps a new livery or two for an existing loco? I also wonder what kind of thing they will actually be doing with Vol.4 Military. That could be an opportunity for some pretty unusual movements.
Adding up those DLC.... How much is it for the Route plus all 4(!) Freight DLC ? It might be the most expensive route if you just wanna have some decent freight traffic on it. I imagine buying a german route, then get asked to pay four times for four different freight wagons. Makes DTG price politics really affordable in comparison imo
Well, if you want a busy German route, you have to buy other German routes. Not really any different IMO.
Depends on the route of course but DRA pretty had more freight wagons from the get go than this. The EAnos came with the Vectron yes. I mean if players are happy to pay pretty much double of what i would have to pay for a german dtg route with comparable freight services, so be it. But i personally struggle to rectify this price for myself. _____________________________________________ Had a quick look and i actually was incorrect in assuming those packs came around 11,99£ They are indeed 14,99£ (without discount) So thats almost 60 quid for 4 freight wagons ? No.
The pricing is absurd for anything relative to routes. £15 for the 158 vs £25 for a small route with new train. £10 for a livery pack on trains that cost £12-15 £40 for 3 routes once a year or £30 each for 3 routes throughout the year. None of it makes sense IMO, just comes down to what you’re going to get out of it. Personally I haven’t got any of these wagon packs, as I don’t think there’s a route strong enough to show them off, I’ll look at the Military pack as the wagons with that have potential to add something really head turning & the container pack depending on what it adds, could really go well on WCML. If someone brought us a new freight loco to work with these packs though, I’d snap it all up instantly.
I were certainly apprehensive when the first of these packs came out, but bought the second one and then the first after that as they are brilliant packs which really have added to the MML experience. Look forward to these next two, and hope they will be joined by a new British freight loco in the near future.
I dont even mind seeing the 66, I just want to see a livery that is not EWS or DB!!! Would love to see FL and GBRf cooperate with TSW. I'd like to see all the different light clusters. If DTG could work our a deal I'd be happy to pay for a small 66 pack featuring the two freight operators, but would like to see both the green and orange FL liveries. With the WCML in the game though I would love to see a 90 pop up in game.
As a huge freight fanatic - I cannot wait for these, I'm especially excited for the military one, since it sounds like it'll be very interesting.. transporting tanks (presumably) and I'm intrigued with the Intermodal one, since there's already workings on MML but they're not driveable.. will this new pack just make them driveable and obviously use the new wagons?? Either way, whatever happens with these packs - I'll be buying them for sure and as I said; I can't wait!
There’s a DRS liveried one for an add-on in Scotland, not sure if that was a Rivet exclusive or what though..
DTG have stated in the past that they did attempt to reach out to Freightliner and GBRf and both aren't interested in being featured. The game is apparently too realistic compared to TSC, if they're anything like MTA was for LIRR V2 then they likely worry that someone could know too much about their locos through the game. DRS have already been featured as part of the Rivet pack. Their versatility might be limited but a couple more locos or liveries from them might be nice, perhaps the military pack would be a chance for this? Haven't heard anything about Colas either. Some versatility is possible with them in services and classes.
The (Rivet) E-G Freight Pack 66s will substitute in to MML Cargo Line 2 journeys. Not sure about the 1st pack, but I had a DRS 66 the other day for a Pack 2 journey.
The packs really add to the routes. Never thought I'd enjoy hauling freight, turns out the 66 which you see everywhere is okay.I've used the 52 on GWE and MML . I'll likely buy both new packs. It would be lovely if they gave freight fans a fresh loco.Badger would be interesting.
I very much agree. 56 one of my faves and the 60 not far behind. I regularly see 60’s hauling biomass trains to Lynemouth power station and always think they’d be awesome in TSW.
I have the first two packs and feel they are value for money, plus they add some extra interest to the routes. I will likely get volumes 3 and 4. Personally I can't stand the class 66, I think they are ugly and they are everywhere. However the fact they are everywhere means it is unsurprising they appear on every modern route. I would love a class 56 or 60, but clearly they are not going to come as part of one of these packs.
I am thinking of buying those, but I dont really know how to set up brakes and other stuff in case you run a double or multiloco consist with 66s O
My sentiments but there are only so many new wagons I can take without some new traction with which to haul them.
At this stage I am not sure why DTG don't release an official "unbranded" version and allow CC members fill in the gaps
well, if I was to run 2 locos, of course I want em both running to make the work easier... but I dont know which switches to turn on in the second loco and which to leave off and what settings for brakes and such to enter into the computer unit... I saw a video or two with ppl playing one of these DLCs and setting it up, but dont remember it now
I think they did a vote on that and unfortunately, not many people were keen... Quite annoying really, because it's limiting the amount of trains we could have in the game, and it's not that big of a problem having some unbranded stuff - I mean, almost everyone seems really happy about the unbranded FGW HST/166s
On the GSM-R, there should be something labelled "Braking Comms" (or something like that, I'm 90% sure I've got the name wrong lol) - if you turn that on, it should use the additional locos engine. (I could however be wrong, since I've not really tested it myself)
what about those generator switches etc? I believe some have to be on and some off for the second loco to produce helping power
Not everyone. I’d be happier with just the livery they have now. I haven’t specifically said I’m unhappy about it before now because I can’t change it. They aren’t new trains so they could have just been in the liveries they are now. I don’t see the need to add anything unbranded unless it is a new service type like the other unbranded trains in the new timetable, the ones that would otherwise not be present. The HST/166s already have a livery and so the unbranded ones are not necessary and I’d rather they weren’t there. No need for it.
You know the old ones are still going to be there right? I mean there definitely is a huge need for it, considering the route was originally going to be FGW blue, the stations are still all in FGW blue and it's the complete wrong year to only have GWR green branding on every single train ????
Oh yeah, not sure about those I'm afraid... When I can (unless you or someone beats me to it) I'll have a play about and tell what to and what not to do
Should've figured not everyone would be pleased with it. As stated by Bleajch, the Green HSTs are incorrect for the year the route takes place, so the FGW ones are basically in the correct livery, and taking that into account; they will serve quite a big purpose, in immersion at least.. so I'd say they are needed personally
You mean "how much is it for the routeS?" This Cargo DLC features on multiple routes. You don't only fill up 1 route with these cargo packs. You fill multiple routes. I found these bundles to bring more bang for my buck than most other loco DLC that is released.
I’m on the same page, I haven’t said anything because I don’t want to put a downer on Liams work, which is great. Having a route which weighs more toward being unlicensed trains where there is branding available isn’t my cup of tea.
Theoretically, by switching on banking comms first, when you then switch the generator switch on in the lead loco, the (imaginary) driver of the second loco switches that same switch. As long as the first thing you do is switch on banking comms there should be no need to enter the second loco.
Cash grab? How?…both packs offered wagons that were not in the game. Why wait for a ‘4 pack’ anyway?….pick up the individual packs as & when they come up in a sale!
They ain't new wagons, they are new liveries with a few extra bits and bobs added with a hefty price tag added to them, also to note that your paying for the 66 AGAIN. The newly announced cargo lines actually Interest me because they are something new
So what I said then, a few bits and bobs added, look the at the oil tanker and you will see what I'm on about
