I was wondering why TPWS is not incorporated into TSW4, but other safety systems are. I feel this would really add to the realisticness of the game, instead of just saying "Service Failure: Signal passed at danger". Who knows, it may be included into TSW5?
TPWS is simulated (for the most part), and has been for a very long time. Some routes even have the grids that force you to slow down for a red signal or buffer stop (can't remember which). As for 'Service Failure', that is, supposedly, an issue regarding licences. The same issue that causes derailments to end your service.
Oh nice! So yeah. Try approaching a red signal too quickly on the East Coast Mainline, and it should apply the emergency brakes before you pass the signal.
It was on Cathcart from the beginning. I can remember Matt demonstrating how to stop it tripping when you had to go through a red (with permission) in one of the scenarios.
TPWS is simulated put it’s implementation varies across routes and trains. There are some OSS on some routes but not others. Behaviour of TPWS also changes depending on which version a train has, trains with TPWS Mk4 are a bit more involved with how you recover from mistakes (e.g Class 801), other trains like the Class 323 (with TPWS Mk3) are simpler.
Try approaching St. Pancras International fast enough (~90kph), you'll be stopped as soon as you exit the tunnel.
I think it's isolated on most trains by default, as are most safety systems. You need to look for the tpws isolation switch and activate it when starting a service.
Well said, if you want to crash into St. Pancras at well over 90 mph, you should have the freedom to barbecue yourself in the resulting fireball......
Or a should add for national rail services also. Apart from Ashford int that technically isn't international.
