Fire up wcml on foot at Euston and go from there. Like a child at a toy store, what do I play with first.
First thing I will do is board an ICE and click on a screen and feel so satisfied that it will zoom in.
Download the free starter pack and a selection of TSW5 versions of routes I already own to test out stutter levels and overall performance as compared to TSW4. I will also check out the new features available for older DLC like the route interchange option. Brighton Mainline, ECML and Cathcart Circle will be used for performance testing as they have uncomfortable stuttering in certain places. Adding Bakerloo, GWE and ECW will allow me to test out the route connection/interchange option which will a good new feature that should not affect route performance.. I will closely monitor feedback and reviews on WCML from strictly non DTG aligned trustworthy content creators (Ambassador free zone) and then decide if and when I will buy WCML and the 390. Despite the complaints I have seen about WCML the previews seem to show a route that runs smoothly and that will always be the criteria by which I judge simulation software. I can live with lighting problems, unbranded trains and no suspension effects but low frame rates and stuttering is an absolute deal breaker. I am grateful that DTG are offering the TSW5 core free and if WCML/390 reaches the required level of performance then I am happy to buy it at full price as stand alone DLC when that becomes available. If (and that is a big if) DTG delivers what I demand from simulation software then they fully deserve to receive my money.
I just thought of one other thing I am going to do, London Euston at 18:40 to see if any passengers are running for the trains, like in real life.
The first thing I did was waiting a day after the release, before I have added the free package to my Steam account. The next thing will probably be waiting at least a couple of days until I will install it to check what has changed. Following this will be probably checking what new mods for the previously available content have appeared. Next will be awaiting releases of new DLCs, especially for Tadami & the add-on for Peak Forest.
the 146 Ferry scenario on Kinzigtal has BR146.2 bugs as one minght by now expect. Why layer in a broken lok ?
