Hello, as a beginner I have tried hard to score any points at all on the scenario Dresden to Rilesa. I got too many negative points for speeding and emergency breaks. Now for the sixth or seventh time I was very careful to obey the speed limits and I tried to maintain a speed some 5 km.h under the speed limit. I thought I had done a reasonable job but looking at the score in Debrief page I still earned 0 points. Twice I earned 334 points for timeliness, but at the end I received a timeliness penalty of -800 points! This is no fun, so I wanted to run the same scenario in Standard mode. But I found that in Standard Mode only a RailFan scenario of taking photos was available, and not hte Dresden to Rilesa scenario that is availbabler in the Career mode. Am I missing something? Can I change some settings to make this scenario available in Standard mode? If the game is so strict in Careerr Mode, I want to bew able to play the same scenarios that are available in Careeer Mode in Standard Mode. Then I can enjoy my ride and do not have to look at a 0 points score each time
Hello, DTG have implemented a toggle for those who just want to enjoy the scenarios without pressure. Turn off Career Scoring
Hello Spikee 1975, Thank you, this was just what I wanted, thanks for pointing me to this setting. Kind regards, Martin de Groot
You're welcome. If you feel like you're up for a challenge, just turn it on again. But some scenarios are set up in a way that you can't win, so imho it's better to play realistically without these scores.
Just bear in mind that career scenarios, unlike standard secnarios, will not fail the objective if you are a little bit late. The main reason why so many points get deducted is that most scenario authors don't bother (or don't realise) that the default penalties are set very high which is why you end up losing 500 points for being two minutes late or other tedium. Unfortunately the original career scenarios are locked out from user editing so the best you can do is clone it as your own scenario then go in and tone down the penalties to something more reasonable,
I know exactly what the OP means, especially on passenger services. The biggest problem for me is unposted speed limits and the horrendous loss of score in just seconds as you try and break from 70 down to a 45 that wasn't on the hud, as happened to me yesterday. Very quickly I stood zero chance of even a bronze medal. On the other hand if I drive slower "just in case the devs have messed up again", then I'm late for all my stops and slaughtered with another big points reduction. This is actually worse in standard mode as you will get a cross on a stop and never complete the scenario, at least on career you can still complete the scenario. Kind of why I enjoy freight the most.
I agree too on the freight runs i take things slower..you get docked a lot of points even if you pop a mile or 2 over the posted speed limit briefly
Yes because the display at the bottom of my screen I use, the hud, doesn't mention the 45. RW Enhancer 2 has fixed a lot of these omissions but there are still some.
To the contrary I'd say you don't understand the Kings English. THERE IS A SPEED RESTRICTION THAT IS NOT SHOWN ON THE HUD at the bottom of the screen (the one that shows the stations!) Sadly it's quite commonplace.
For what it's worth I totally agree that it is frustrating. The original Woodhead route springs to mind as having significant badly signposted speed restrictions. But I rarely get a perfect run on the first go either, so if the scenario is good enough that I want to run it again I'll have a much better route knowledge for any subsequent attempts.
You are the one who does not understand the Kings English If you BREAK the train it is BROKEN If you apply the BRAKES it slows DOWN. You are complaining that Speed Restrictions are not shown then F3 or F4 HUD Normally that is only on German/Austrian Routes as they use a form of Speed Signalling. I was asking if you could give an example - ie approaching Station X from Station B. Somebody else could also look at that and might suggest a solution.
Best solution is to clone the scenario as a career one so you can go in and amend it. Bring up the penalty box and alter the points for speeding or lateness to a minuscule value. Job sorted.
