Nope wrong again. Got both and I enjoy the mods. I mean it’s pretty simple if someone is going to fix the timetable on pc and others improve lighting and graphics then people will just buy the route regardless and we are back to square one. fife circle is ace on pc but it’s only ace because of mods not because rivet actually fixed it like they were supposed too.
At the end of the day we can't be telling others what they should and should not be doing, let people draw their own conclusions. Personally as I've mentioned I've got a refund as I do not want to be one of the people condoning or funding something I am genuinely disappointed with, not just in terms of the games development choices, but also the cageyness and reluctance to deal with issues arising. My £53 refund won't even be noticable quite frankly, but until lessons are learnt and rather then blaming players for losing their rag and actually show some form of genuine accountability, I'll stick with the free upgrade being offered... But, that is just me, as I feel as already mentioned, the money and profit is what will be listened to most. Do I want people to necessarily copy me? Nope. I want everyone to judge this individually for themselves. Leave people alone who want to buy the game, allow people the freedom to make their own mind up. I can already see the majority of people have. If you want to buy the game buy it, if you don't want it leave it. There is no judgement and I totally respect others decisions. We don't want this to turn into a 'them and us' dynamic.
Putting aside for a brief moment that neither you nor anyone else has the right to tell anybody what they should or shouldn't be doing as their personal hobby, you are aware that some TSW routes have been developed in collaboration with modders aren't you? If that modding hadn't occurred, then we would all be worse off for it it. Yet you want the modders to stop improving the game so that DTG are forced to? That's some bass ackwards logic right there
They used a drone shot at night to show how dark it is.......oh my days hahahaha. This is a Cabride at night from Crewe to Wolverhampton, so yeah not the same area but it's WCML and gives a good indication of what it's actually like.
Night lighting in Tsw is so bad I never bother playing a service after sundown. I find turning the monitor/telly off and staring at the black screen gives me the same "immersive, true to life experience"
Up to a point that is all very noble and all that, but also we should be encouraging other players to do what's best for us all, for the entire community, and that is not to reward failure. If enough players don't care and just throw their money at every new release in blind faith then give me one reason why DTG, rivet or whomever should ever change? Besides saying those words is pretty meaningless in real terms as people will buy what they want anyway, like people will vote for who they want in an election. But there is never any harm in trying to guide those people for the greater good. That is all people are doing, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
I totally agree the money/profit will make a difference in the grand scheme of things. But, people have to analyse and make a decision for themselves. I wouldn't want to necessarily outcast or have a grievance to those who do want to buy or play it. It is down to the individual. I'm quite confident just by reading this thread that the vast majority of people have already made their own mind up without the needing to be persuaded by any individuals.
The truth is that people that reward failure are not going to get anything changed. So be it on their heads. Can you not see that you are doing the very same thing with me? It's quite funny really. I don't think anyone has told another member to actually not buy it have they? Could you give me a reference if they have.
Yes they likely have, because of the tireless efforts of us presenting a clear and reasoned argument in a friendly (hopefully) manner..
It's a balance between changing course or sinking the ship. I think the message has been conveyed. If DTG don't respond then its a great pity for them and us, either because mediocrity will prevail, or they'll go under as a business. Alternatively, if they up their game within the constraints of their business model, everyone wins. If the business model won't allow that, then its incompatible with their own mission statement of delivering quality railway simulation games. Something needs to change, and I know which option I'd like to see.
No Fred that’s you looking after your own interests I’m afraid. My interests are for getting what I pay for. yep fine do what you please but you can’t be coming into threads and moaning about the quality. All you are doing is feeding a vicious circle and nothing will ever improve.
And what you see as "rewarding failure" only suits your own agenda - whether you like it or not, there are players that exist that in their opinion, the "product" (TSW) suits their needs and provides them with enjoyment. That you think this "rewards failure" is of course your opinion, but trying to project your opinions onto them by attempting to shame them for their choice is what is unacceptable. By all means voice what you dislike, but please do it in a way that does not denigrate other people for their choices (whether passively or directly) There are too many people on here attempting to force (not guide) community members to follow their cause
Well guess I'm going to be the problem then because your tireless efforts have royally failed in spectacular fashion on me, namely because I don't care about anything anyone has to say in the forums, If I want something, I buy that something and nothing changes my mind.....
But "your interest" would prevent other players from enjoying what modders offer, which is rather selfish And thanks for your permission to do what I please, and on another note please sir may I have some more breadcrumbs?
I'm agreeing with Fred. Despite all the shortcomings of the game, everyone's free to decide what they like and what they are supporting. Every other self-righteous attitude will have you become as stupid as those idiots glueing themselves onto the streets because they think they are holding the only truth, dictating how others should act. And this is only a game.
C’mon folks, no bickering otherwise Harry might get trigger-happy and close this “new” WCML moaning thread down. I suggest handbags at ten paces.
The answer to that is you can view nearly every aspect of humanity in this place and, and if you know how to read between the lines and see the hidden traits of people you can learn so much about people without even trying too. Plus to keep up with the happenings of the game mostly.......
I don't want to interfere with debate you're having with others. But as I've mentioned I don't want to create a 'them and us' attitude between those who do, and those who don't buy TSW5 and unconstructive bickering occurs every time the subject arises.
Everyone! Calm down! Honestly, I've been for a nice evening out and I've come back to read some of the horrible, ad hominem attacks on people most or all of us don't know at all. It's grotesque and some of the folks here should be ashamed of themselves. I get that people are disappointed (I am too), I recognise and applaud the constructive feedback coming from many but some of the diatribe aimed at employees of DTG, Rivet and who knows else (it would make me quietly smile if JT or other hallowed developers had any involvement) is completely unnecessary. I doubt very much that anyone involved jumped into their work hoping that they'd get a reaction like this. I'm sure there are plenty of post mortem conversations going on internally and, yes, things clearly haven't gone to plan, but that's something DTG and their partners have to work out and I'm sure they'll pay the price in terms of those of us who will not be buying their product (let's see how that really goes though.....). But some of this ridiculous, out-of-proportion response is plain silly, childish and downright inhuman. I'm sorry but I'm disgusted when I consider this next to some of the life-changing events people I know, and I'm sure a lot of people you know in similar circumstances, are going through. It's a game and, yes, it's a hobby that some of us take very seriously, but that's all it is and we have a choice as to whether we choose to support DTG in helping us pursue it. Feel free to attack me for writing this but, alternatively, you could reflect on what I'm trying to say and then, I'm sure in some cases, carry on anyway. Be kind to each other, life is far too short to let this level of anger and hatred consume you. Respectfully.
Thanks for responding in such a civil way. As you say, one can learn a lot about people by the way they conduct themselves in all areas of life, including online forums. Of course, we are all capable of temporary failures or lapses..
No you shouldn't this isn't a union. If I like a product and will get enjoyment out of it then that is my decision to make. And frankly, the way some on here "make suggestions to others" make me not want to support them.
I'm in a hotel room bored out of my mind.. I've got an excuse Otherwise I'd be running freight on the East Coastway, or trying some of the shunting suggestions I got earlier. What's everyone else's excuse..
I think we should now all just hold off of turning on each other, I would not want to distract away from the point at hand... Or get a second thread closed!
At the risk of repeating the gist of my previous comment, I’m pretty sure that the outcome of any tendering process was Focus Entertainment’s decision as they hold the purse strings.
You wrote that there were individuals who were attacking employees of DTG when that hasn't happened in this thread
Go back and actually read what people have written rather than editing based on casually browsing and pulling out what floats your boat.
So an interesting point in that update was the LNWR branding. Usually we’d see some management of expectations or no plans statement, but it seems DTG is hopeful of getting the branding in place.
I have read this entire thread. There is a difference between criticizing a company and attacking individual employees. Nobody has attacked individual employees.
The end term date for the LNWR franchise is 16th September if I recall correctly, the government could well take over the franchise then (and the branding might return), or they might let the franchise run until the expiry date (2026 I believe), in which case the situation is unlikely to change. Or the loss of branding might be due to something else entirely.
Aren't LNWR on thin ice at the moment anyway and this government have stated their goal to have everything nationalised asap? I strongly think that they'll lose the contract on the 16th, and the DfT usually are pretty ok with playing ball with DTG.
Considering its built up sprawl all the way to Watford we should definitely have that kind of bright sky light pollution at night, I think it would be a bit darker past that until you hit Bletchly where you'd see light pollution again.
