    "Potentially" reconfigured. Though we don't know if the plans still call for this.

    Not to mention HOW THE HELL WOULD DTG MODEL A RACE TRACK THAT DOESNT EVEN EXIST YET?

    (And don't say use the drawn up plans, that's not DTGs job, especially since we dont know about potential warehouses around the track.)

    Had a quick watch of the stream highlights. MP36 looks nice, certainly sounds different to the SFPC one.

    However the stutters and dropouts were very intrusive, more so than during the WCML stream. And as per previous comments the highways aren’t really convincing. In sunlight, the one to the left of the train looked like a silver ribbon.

    Obviously a TOD4 thing but this is where more control of graphics settings is needed to tone down this sort of light reflection. Yes we could use God Mode to make things a bit duller but that is hardly realistic for LA, where the climate is such if you turn off the sprinklers, the area would be sun scorched back to desert in a few weeks.

    Didn't notice any floating cars but could definitely see the spawning in.

    Skipped to the end of the run as the train approached LA Union on a night run. The cab car headlights very good but again no real feel of ambient lighting or light pollution from the surrounding area. This is one of the most brightly lit conurbations in the USA, in fact years ago I remember flying into LAX on a night approach and looking out the cabin window, it was just a carpet of lights as far as the eye could see. They really need to be capturing that look.

    So although much better than WCML, still not swayed me to reinstate my purchase at full price. Guess that leaves the German route preview to try and convince me.

    The fact that the tracks are there and relatively accurate has given me hope that they won't massively bungle Fenway park, which will be hard to avoid doing since its right next to Worcester line.

    the stutters were drastically reduced after a few runs. what I did was started the service and then initiated hopping to another station giving up the service to AI and then just canceling the hop thus end with you in the cab while the AI drives the route. on the inbound to LA union lights were actually added that are there irl and weren't on Antelope

    Thanks for that Eddie. Sounds like it might have been the shaders compiling.

    That still leaves the reflective roads etc. though that is more of a core issue and which is why the programmers need to crack on with incorporating the ini mod and giving us more brightness, gamma options.

    Night lighting, appreciate your comment about the update. Again it's a bit of a core thing that affects many routes. IMHO the lighting in TSW still looks like MSTS, TSC can be noticeably better as are other games such as the SCS truck sims.

    Still, food for thought.

    The cab cars and the cars in the trains don’t have that click clack noise when they go over junctions and stuff. Been like that since AVL came out in TSW4.

    TSW is advertised as featuring authentic routes and trains from around the world meaning that the routes and trains should be realistic. Now I think this is route is fine. Certainly better then the WCML dumpsterfire but expecting routes that are realistic or close to realistic especially at these prices is certainly justifiable

    I agree, but complaining that a light post is a meter off, or a bldg isn’t dirty enough is a bit overboard in my humble opinion. I personal think credit so be given where credit is due. The comparison pictures that were the subject of our discussion, to me looked almost photorealistic and I was taken by surprise that someone could find fault. (I really shouldn’t have been surprised since the general tone of these forums is to complain it seems).

    Of course everyone is entitled to post their opinions, and everyone is entitled to not to agree. I thank you for letting me know what you thought of my comments. I just think we differ on what we consider the degree of realism.

    Not everything is perfect. There will always be faults in this game. People don't complain for the sake of doing so. There is often a reason.

    Correct. The poster above says im complaining about a lamp post being a meter off, but when you add it all up its a lot.

    Lighting is still an issue
    Floating cars and car shadows is still an issue
    Shadows on the tracks is still an issue
    Shadow pop in on objects is still an issue
    Stations lacking detail or not fully realised is still an issue even though it shouldn't be, they are a core element of a track. And its not just a lamppost, its fencing, trees, buildings, windows, doors etc They did a really good job on the Goblin line for the most part so why not put in that kind of effort.

    So you put all of that together and the needle doesn't move. I could throw in dynamic weather which doesn't really work too well depending on the season. Like will it snow in December?

    I never used to be this negative but the past year, the swizzle of this glorified update, the release schedules, the lack of fixes (hello Fife) and the shifting of the goalposts has put me in this mood to the point of me being totally uninterested in tsw5, at least until Schap comes along.

    Those issues are honestly what brings down the quality of the route. It's pretty ridiculous that floating cars are still an issue in tsw especially considering that the main selling point of this route is the highway. The route is OK but not very remarkable. Hopefully DTG will adress the floating cars issue. I guess I'm lucky I have gamepass.

    As I've said previously, what was both amusing and disturbiing at the same time was the video of the silver ribbon highway, flying cars and trucks and vehicles crossing in front of and through the train in the view of all three streamers in real time, all happening without comment. Wasn't it just a !little disconcerting/ embarrassing? Yet neither DTG Harry, Matt nor Eddie said a word.

    These issues shouldn't be happening in a route that has had many months of development work, QA and beta testing.

    It's all very well to praise the beta testers, but if they're not reporting these things or the developers are not paying attention to their reports, what hope is there for future US routes.

    rest assured the issues with the vehicle and cars are currently open and remain open on Jira. If I see something new reported on the forums I usually acknowledge otherwise everything else is 99% already on file

    Thanks for being the first " DTG person " to acknowledge these issues. I guess these same scenic anomalies on AVP and CJP have also remained open on Jira?

    Remember Crosstie I'm not a DTG crewmember. I do however volunteer to help test,report and hopefully improve game play for all of us.

    A 2d imagine doesn't count, AGAIN, DTG has to factor in the surrounding buildings around the speedway which currently DO NOT EXIST.....

    And if DTG gets that wrong, guess what happens in a few years if the project does finish.

    "DTG SCREWED UP THE SCENRERY FOR THE TRACK IT DOESNT LOOK LIKE THIS ETC ETC ETC"

    The 2.0 mile speedway looks better anyway.

    The route looks nice and I really look forward to playing it. The only thing that is a bit disappointing (not blaming DTG, just as a matter of fact) is the timetable amendment for Gen8. I know the constraints but, still, without AI freight, it might just be a bit monotonous, e.g. compared to the Antelope Valley route.

    I have both PS5 and PS4 (in different locations) and like to use the PS4 for the US routes which, in my opinion, work best on the older hardware compared to busy German or UK commuter routes. I do not need 100 car formations but having some variety would be nice.

    I am also not 100% sure what "no AI freight" means, as listed on Dovetail live. Will the playable freight services still appear as AI or will there only be freight if you actually spawn as one of the remaining playable services?

    Im assuming based on the article is this....

    You will only get a selection of the playable freight layers, not all of them.

    No AI Freight trains (IE The Union Pacific ones on route and any non-playable BNSF ones)

    Anyone else having an issue with ES44C4 on the SB line ? When I get the train all set up and selecting a route , the reverser just disappears leaving the train unable to move ?

    Yes it sucks , Waited awhile to pick up this add on and it has problems..Just like the incorrect formations of a few of the Metrolink sets . Total let down .

    There’s a formation in one of the 6 or 7 sets that has the Rotem Cab facing inward , this may have been a weird glitch but I’ve never seen a Metrolink formation with the Rotem Cab car at the end facing inward instead of out..

    I've noticed the Rotem cab car doesnt have the F125 option only the MPH 36 in the rear .

    Hey guys, just a quick question. I just installed TSW5 Deluxe Edition, including Cajon Pass, on my old PS4 and wanted to play the San Bernardino route.

    There is NO playable freight available in either of the two timetables. No ES44, no SD40. I heard (and totally accept) that the selection of freight was limited. Is it limited to zero or am I doing something wrong? Thanks

    Thank you very much for clarifying this, Max. I think my confusion may have came from the Dovetail Live Article. There it said:

    As a result, the following gameplay will not be available for the route:
    • A selection of playable freight service layers
    • AI freight services
    I have to say I am enjoying the route nevertheless. :love:

    If you want the full experience when the game comes launches on 17 , I highly recommend getting Cajun and Sherman hill if you have Xbox X or PC. Xbox S still no confirmation about San bernardino having Gen 9 layers on it

    Thank you. I have both PS5 and PS4 and look forward to when the back-catalogue becomes available. In my personal opinion, layers , different trains (e.g. the loco-add-ons and livery packs) and busy routes are what makes the game interesting. I knew there would come a time when Gen8 cannot handle it anymore. Guess I will install older routes on my PS4 and enjoy them with the new TSW5 tech.

    The MP36 Loco Number 902 is always as Duplikat on the Route, with need to be fixed

    I have 2 more misses 2 report ,
    upload_2024-9-17_13-22-13.jpeg Crossing by Pomona N not working, I'm sure the cars going through has already been reported so I'm not going to report that & in the 2 pic there is pole stuck on the tracks on the Pomona north Freight Side (which is now metro ) Other than that , really enjoying this route .

    Only if you have the Cajon Pass (BNSF) and Sherman (UP AI Only) DLC will you see the freight layers and you might also need to be on an X to get everything. If you picked up TSW5 on Game Pass it will depend what edition they used - Standard (does not include Cajon Pass) or Deluxe (does include Cajon Pass).
