Get me some popcorn as well and some malteasers and a drink, better make them all large, we could be here for a while.
Stream promo clipping "Be swept off your feet with the commuter mayhem of the WEST COAST MAIN LINE." What is the most voiced criticism on these pages?
Because panic mode is never good. DTG are running a business with scheduled jobs. Before Matt can say anything, there'll be meetings and discussions how and what to do, and what cannot be done. Then, an agreement is made and jobs being delegated. Then, a public announcement can be made. Matt isn't a dictator who can overrule everything as he would like to. His job is to make sure all the pieces of the puzzle that form a DLC, coming from many different teams, are fitting together finally.
The explanation that DTG used to try and justify the atrocious darkness on WCML is flawed. Unless the drone was at train level then it will look darker naturally because you are looking down. Fly over any city at night and you see all the lights but not necessarily the light pollution reaching up from them. Then go onto the ground and look both horizontal and vertical, you will see the effect of that lighting in illuminating the once darkness. Living in London it's one of the most well lit cities I've ever experienced because if you include the burbs it's vast.
I said the exact same earlier. I find their excuses for the night lighting totally unacceptable, especially as they have not done a bad job in F-F In comparison with SBO and F-F DTG have messed up with WCMLS plain and simple. They really are like a politicians. The word 'Sorry' does not exist in their vocabulary
Just want to this post for forum members who have said that they will only pick up the free version and then some specific routes in the future such as the JustTrains route. This will not be possible, you need at least a paid version of TSW5 before you’ll be able to purchase any DLC. Disregard, has been confirmed as incorrect.
Surely that’s lost in translation or poorly worded? It defeats the purpose of the starter pack if so.
Yeah, but if you look at the features I think DTG will not allow you to have route hopping unless you pony up some cash, which is a bit mean spirited, but what can you expect and it probably won't work anyway because it is filled with bugs like the guard mode crashing on the live stream.
Not according to the FAQs Train Sim World 5 FAQ : Dovetail Support (freshdesk.com) You can upgrade the Free Starter Pack at any time, by purchasing a Train Sim World 5 bundle or compatible add-on.
The idea is to give people access to the core features for their existing routes and a teaser of TSW 5 for new players who might be interested.
FAQ might be wrong. (Or maybe Matt) I suspect it is an oversight in the FAQ, as the FAQ also states in an overview that the free version doesn’t unlock several new features, which would be required for new routes. (Conductor mode etc) See post above.
spreading misinformation on the internet may be joyful for the person doing so, but it's also harmful. that is NOT true as said. you can buy DLC even when you get the free starter pack. it's literally TSW5 itself, for free, so there is no additional paywall on that.
Not true. the features are blanked out bc you dont have any routs that include that in the free starter pack. Just the training centre. You get some of those features again with compatible content. It says so a column away
the point of a free upgrade is that the core game (TSW5) is free, aswell as of course the Training Center and the new german class 146.2 with the Dostos in a Training Center themed livery. well that's worded extremely poor then. and I think common sense also already reveals that that cannot be true.
It can absolutely be true if there is a separate flag within game platforms for the free version. Online platforms check if you own the base game before you can buy any DLC. If the free version is not marked as valid for DLC purchases (and it is setup that way) then it won’t allow you to purchase them. — I do think that Dovetail may want to clarify it given the contradicting information within the FAQ and from Matt’s comment, but I still want to give a heads up.
Erm, no. The free version includes the training center only. As the Training centre has no timetable or scenarios, they are not included. If you have existing DLC, stuff like scenarios and timetables will be available from your own DLC. I know bashing DTG has become your goal in life, and I agree with some of it, but spreading misinformation is not fair to others.
because those features are provided by the routes, and the free starter pack does not come with routes, only the training center. … err, oops I see several others have posted the same… note to self… read all replies before replying..
The free starter pack is aimed at new users of the game. Those that have zero content. With no content, there is no timetable, no scenarios, no conductor mode etc. You just have the training centre. When they purchase some DLC, they will get the other features. For the rest of us, the free starter pack is essentially a core upgrade. The other features are available because we already have content. Yes, they could have worded it slightly better.
Just to clarify, if you have the Free Starter Pack, you have a copy of TSW5 permanently and can buy any future content separately to play in TSW5. You do not need to purchase TSW5 again in order to buy add-ons, but if you don't get the Free Starter Pack before 17th October, you will need to purchase TSW5 after this date. If you're ever unsure of anything around launch, please check the FAQs.
For what it's worth, Matt clarified on the next page that owning the free edition will let you play DLC. The restriction is that you cannot buy just a route DLC and play TSW5 without owning some version of TSW5, such as the free upgrade. Edit: DTG Harry can type faster than me.
If a film is poor and tanks at the box office who is generally responsible and gets the blame? The actors, the director, the writers or the studio bosses? Generally it’s the director, as they are the ones who have oversight and control of the project. I’m afraid someone has to take responsibility for the state of the game, and I’m not entirely convinced it is not the fault of these mythical higher ups people keep referring to.
I'm saying that they "need" neutral sections the same way a modern EMU does. You have to throttle down every so often, it's hardly a game-changer that makes tap-changer locos worthless without neutral sections.
It should be possible on routes terminating in London and others such as L2B/ECW. That's my understanding anyway.
Is a glow over a city at night even possible? The draw distance on light sources isn't all that great from what have seen. If the light sources suddenly switch on as you approach them at night (from not a great distance) then how would you achieve the glow? I remember on gta5 if you use the simple trainer and enable black out mode, if you look at los Santos from a distance you still see the glow around the city. Has anyone seen this? Can this be done in ue ?
The x ed out features as only apply to the initial free purchase, as noted. Once you start adding in compatible content they become available. However the table could have been presented much more clearly.
I was quoted out of context... I was replying in the context of the question that getting the free edition was pointless, because all DLC could be purchase without needing it anyway - which is not the case. You will need either the free edition OR buy one of the other editions. Happy to accept your disappointment, and yes if you want someone to direct it to please do direct it at me, buck stops here, for sure. I do my best to deliver the best product I can to try and please the majority of players, but accept it's not going to hit the mark for everyone. For the record though, every instance of TSW has been substantially more successful than the one prior to it. So I take something positive from that at least, in terms of how the majority see it. Matt.
i have no doubt the latest tsw offering will ve succesful for you & the team.. but i really do hope this 'final' wcml timetable won't actually be final, and that there are class 710 additions, ai additions and 710 platform stop markers all to be added in the future
I am looking at options, I have nothing to promise at the moment, which is why I haven't said anything yet. Matt.
Would be nice if the scenery between Queen’s Park and harrow got some major tweaks as some of the stations (Wembley central I’m looking at you), as well as some of the OHLE gantries as I have made a thread about. Also really hope there are more 8 car services on the timetable
You look at Wembley then and I will look at Harrow Wealdstone which completely wrong and you can only access half the station, with the wcml joining up that should be the case. Done a post about Harrow Wealdstone on here too.
This sounds a bit like a busy timetable is supposed to be a personal preference, and the dissatisfied people here just had different preferences. It must've been obvious that replicating a 24-hour cycle of a full LO with only 65 playable services is NOT going to land; it's not about hitting the marks for everyone; it's about hitting a standard.
I may be taking that the wrong way, and please correct if so, because I hope it doesn't, but that does kinda read like "you have your opinions but it sells anyway so meh".
And right there is the crux. You should be happy. Your remit is to make the product successful, and you have. The players perspective is different. Successful does not always mean better. Some of the stuff written on here recently has been nothing short of a disgraceful, but most has been frustration. When it's good, TSW is damn good. We would just like some consistency in the quality of the product, so that its damn good more often than not.
