For Steam you might want to add if you can't download in one go, best to tick in small batches. The process does not support resume so if the download and subsequent verification is interrupted it goes back to the start next time you try.

 

Is there going to be a pre release install for game pass like there was with 4?

 

Why is there no pre install on PC?

 

My PS5 indicates that the TSW4 compatible content is already installed for TSW5, but listed as 'shared with TSW4'. Does this mean we won't need to redownload everything? And will the compatible content also be available during Early Access?

 

Same here. I hope this was intended as it solves the "I don't want to redownload everything" problem

 

Will there be a predownload for steam and why is steam telling me the game will be available on the 17th when I preordered the deluxe version

 

Once again it’s a shame you cannot sort out preload with Steam. Early access at 1800 BST is a bit of a misnomer as it’s going to take a while to download the core and new routes, transfer across the profile then install any existing content (such as Goblin Line) which are needed to drive layers on the new stuff.

 

This is just how Steam works - the game will still "unlock" at 1700UTC today.

I agree with the above post - it would really have been nice for DTG to have "ticked the box" to allow preload on TSW5. I'm on a fast, wired connection, and I know I'll still be waiting a while!

TSW 5 also tells me that all content is installed. After installing TSW5 I uninstalled TSW4. All plugins are installed in TSW5.

 

Last year it was three days before all my DLC was captured and of course the rub is, you can’t play the game and background download content at the same time. So ironically this evening I will be playing Run 8, TSC or Snowrunner until at least barebones TSW5 is installed.

 

Can you plays TSW5 already? Can you check if al your DLC works properly in TSW5 ?

I hope someone from DTG could shed some light on this, because this is confusing. I mean, it would be super awesome if we don't need to re-download old DLC, but the TSW5-faqs tell otherwise. I still think this is too good to be true and that come sep 17 we will have to redownload TSW5 versions of all old DLC.

 

I'm on PS5 and although the TSW5 content is installed, it doesn't unlock until 16:00 (even the TSW4 version of routes such as Suffragette line won't unlock until 4pm to play in TSW4). Anything not in the bundle I bought won't be playable on TSW5 until full release day (although on Steam every piece of TSW compatible content you own should be available from 18:00 tonight during early access).

 

I'm at work. I will be home only in the evening and this mystery will be solved. It surprised me too. Even the size of the TSW 5 corresponds to the installed accessories.

 

In TSW 4 none of the TSW 3 DLC got installed until launch day. In TSW5 it seems the DLC is already available and does not need to be reinstalled it seems. But if we can play the TSW4 DLC already today is still a question mark.

 

I guess we will find out in 5 hours on console.

TSW 5 sees content from TSW 4 as installed. So should I delete all TSW 4 content?

 

Mmm, just deleted TSW5 from my playstation and all my routes are still showing as managed content in TSW5 (no longer showing shared with TSW4).
I take it I'll need to go through and delete all this content individually so I can download TSW5 compatible versions next week!!

 

Quick heads up guys, with 15 minutes left, for those wanting to get up and running as quickly as possible with the new content. On Steam you can go into TSW5 in the library now even though not installed yet and untick the DLC you don't want it to install (straightaway). All I've left in there is Bakerloo and Goblin/Suffragete to get the layers on WCMLS. Everything else can be added in later.

 

I got the Deluxe Version of TSW 5 on my PS4 and it's fully downloaded, installed and updated and I logged in using my TSW 4 account same email same password and etc and I don't see all my TSW 4 content or content !!! Please HELP!!! ... On the West Coast Mainline all I see is the Class 350 & the Class 390 where is the Class 710 ????...

Heads up - if you are logged into Steam, looks like you have to complete log out then restart to trigger the download. In fact not even that worked. Going to try a PC reboot. Back in a couple of minutes.

Okay I’m back. Reboot PC, start Steam and got a prompt to install.

 

It appears that instead of TSW5, they've uploaded a dev version of TSW4 without any routes to Steam...

 

The DLC on Steam isn't available to install.

 

Steam install is only 2.8GB, it loads some command prompt on startup and actually starts TSW4?? Come on DTG, really?

Oh great. I'll double check once the install finishes but looks like someone dropped a rather large testicle if that's the case.

Had the same issue, I clicked Verify integrity of game files in steam and now it started to download a 300gb package. I hope that will be it...

But whatabout the Class 377/2 Southern?. The Class 377/2 Southern is part of the West Coast Mainline South right?. Then why is it not in the base game????

I have no idea, I mainly posted it for DTG-Chris to explain to him where the confusion comes from.

 

Miss Luna it's just to say that I have sent Dovetail a ticket and explained the problem, hopefully they'll fix it, and I hope once TSW 5, West Coast Mainline South and the Class 390 is fully downloaded. Hopefully the Class 377/2 is in the timetable mode and I can drive her. I am very grateful for your assistance and for everything.

Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much miss Luna, I've left my PS4 on sleep mode and yes TSW 5, West Coast Mainline South and the Class 390 are downloading in the background. And once I arrive back home. It should all be downloaded properly. As I've went to my downloads via the Purchased slot on my PS4 and downloaded TSW 5 and selected West Coast Mainline South and the Class 390..

If anything I'll let you know if that's okay with you miss Luna

I suppose there are no options to switch from EGS to steam with this free version (with all content)?
