I just drove a quick run with the 111 on Rosenheim-Salzburg on the way I came across a 204 at Freilassing. I could even start the service, but the 204 is only selectable MSB. It clearly layers on other routes though, just not from the menus why is that? Surely it's more work to hide the layer than to let us use it properly? I just don't get there are much worse locos that still get layers why is the 204 so hated by DTG?
Each layer has to be added manually. So it might not always be possible to add every loco to every route.
I dont get the hate. The 187 is way worse and still layers to cargo services. I like the 204 much, it should at least layer into shunting services. That maintalbahn doesnt have layers for it is a crime as it is the same location as on Main Spessart.
My rough guess: it is the 363 layer that the 204 subs in. There is no 204 layer for SRM, so you are seeing a random substitution.
Still why hide it? The G6 uses the same layer but it can be selected from the menu. I don't get what DTG gains from it.
the 204 subs in I think for most freight trains that it can pull as it probably has a standard DB freight mainline and a shunting category. I see it occasionally for 363/G6 services even though it doesn't show up in the menu. (might be something rivet needs to fix since it's their product) I've also very very rarely seen it sub in for mainline freight like this one driving the S1 just when I entered the Meissen Branch. Or this one when I was stuck in a jam at dresden around 10 AM
Nobody hates it - I suspect that given the 363 is used, the timetable author isn't remembering to give a length extension - or - there is the possibility that the significant size difference of the 363 vs 204 may mean it wont fit to the extent limits - i will ask. But, nobody hates anything, please don't jump to bizarre conclusions Matt.
So the 204 subs in for some layers of the RSN 363? i didnt know that... seems like i have to make an investment in the next sale. Thanks for the Info
It seems to be in AI-substitution on selection of routes, but to clarify, player train-substitution is non-existing, from the menu you can still only select it on 7 services on MSB, nowhere else. Catching it in service mode anywhere else is just a pure luck.
In TSW 4 at least, I recall seeing the 204 literally just once outside MSB and that was Dresden-Riesa. Much agreed, I really enjoy more variety. If I remember correctly, the 204 had previously been available across more routes. It's a real shame the 204 is now just for literally a couple MSB services - it should, as a minimum, be for Maintalbahn too.
This whole substitution logic seems messed up beyond repair. It worked reasonably well in TSW3. In a random quick jump I was just presented with a BR204 (no, no double traction) to pull a 1900t - 500m train from Riesa to Dresden. The poor thing couldn't make it past 15-20 kph. Which made me give up the anyway fictitious service. It would never happen IRL. Anyway, the BR 204 is Rivet's (Rivet, was there something?) first pathetic attempt to get train physics and dynamics right. My car is a better simulation of that loco. Too bad, the 3D modelling is very nice (as always from Rivet).
Complain about Rivet if you want, but the community requested a German diesel loco and Rivet did just that, while DTG was milking the same old electric locos with Dosto sets back then.
Oooh i think I know what the issue is - if I recall, Rivet didn't set up the tagging on the loco, so it doesn't come up as a valid sub anywhere... I thought i'd fixed that but maybe it hasn't made it into any builds (I may not have submitted the change...) - i'll take a look. As I say, i've definitely seen it come up as a sub option outside of MSB but that may have been in my local editor build. Matt.
Well, in my example above it DID come up. On DRA. To haul a 1900t - 500m long train from Riesa to Dresden. Poor thing. I saw her on HBL at Lübeck yard as well. Probably subbing for a 363. (Didn't take a picture, though) Third pic is another example from DRA.
The Loco is terrible Build by Rivet with so many Sound Bugs, with was Never fixed We Need a better Loco Like the 294
Subbing in for AI or for playable layers? Get it to work on some other routes and it might be worth the buy! I like the design (and Germany can use more diesels!) but buying just 7 trips with it on one route just doesn't justify it.
Hello Matt, it would be very nice to see highlight of the V100 series the 204 (DR BR 214) on more routes shunting than MSB so far only.
I have seen the 204 appear just recently, on an AI freight run on Riesa - Dresden while I was doing a run with the Expert 101 - And rather comedically, two of them appeared in the RSN power move -
Oh yes sir! The last redemption we have seen of this one is the Kuju version from 2008 on TSC... I´m blown away that no one has made a better one for TSC or TSW by now. It´s seen in every German yard from like 1960 until present. It could sub into every route in any era!
I don´t know too much about that... but the German V90 is everywhere and has been everywhere for well over 50 years now. It should be replaced by the Gravita or other modern shunters at some point, but even today you see it in almost every German freight yard and hauling short distance freight along most lines. You could have it in linke Rheinstrecke, Niddertalbahn and every other German route. Even if someone makes a 1970 route for Germany, it would not be out of place (need a different livery though). The BR 365 are rare these days. you bareley see them anywhere and though constructed as a freight shunting loco, they never had enough power and spent most of the time shunting passenger coaches in stations. They are totally out of place in all the shunting yards... BR 204 and G6 are also rare and not seen much on the German network. BR 204 has been suspended apart from some privat freight companies and G6 is usually seen on factory railways.
The V 90 was a much bigger, more powerful loco than the Gronk or SW series. More like an ALCO RS-1, actually, a road switcher with decent power for mainline loads.
that consist is great. I fail to get any liveries on there randomly but the difference in stock is always fun to see. I don't think it's normal all pantographs are up though unless they are dropped off and immediately (railroad immediately) used at their destination. I've seen power moves in switzerland with all loco's powered but I see it more often that they are dragged.
there is the things on Hamburg-lubeck in timetable on RE 80 there is chance that a Br 146.2 can spawn on the route, i have a screen of the 146.2
Because its completely borked. Its one of the worst Loco DLC for TSW albeit IRL its a stable of german rail history. As Rivets track record shows, they have probably forgot that they even made it.
Just started Derail Valley and the DH4 on there is based on the V90 or V100. It shows just how much possibility there is for the type, but in it's current state I guess we won't realize that in TSW sadly.
I would like to drive it bit it doesn't exist on tsw5? I picked it up in the rivet sale. Its installed yet doesn't show up anywhere? Not even free roam.
Rivet would need to do a small, but non-zero amount of work (make a new tutorial on Training Center) to decouple it from its home route.
The 294 would be a great addition to TSW. While I love the V60s we're getting everywhere, really, it should be the V90s that we get everywhere. They're absolutely everywhere. Ironically, their status as a pure workhorse might be what makes it difficult to get her into TSW. In my experience, they are always either working hard or in the shop with little in between. Probably not the easiest to get reference trips and sound recordings for.
Absolutely beautiful machines - the West German V100 (Br 211/212). A V100 with some Silberlinge is one of the most beautiful trains to me. Source Seeing how we're talking about the East German V100 (Br 204) in this thread, the West German V100 is of course a much closer match than the (West) V90. The V100s are branchline jack-of-all-trades whereas the V90 is purely a shunter that sometimes gets roped into short-haul local freight traffic. Vintage is the way to go for a West V100 (pre-2000). Apart from some MOW and construction trains, they have mostly disappeared from German rails at this point.
Why do we have so many former GDR locomotives instead of DB Einheitslok when it comes to older prototype locomotives?
GDR locos may look retro from today's perspective, but they are still 30-40 years younger than Einheitsloks. Still in widespread use, easily accessible for reference materials, much more fitting for TSW routes that are mostly set in 2010s.
I just drooled over my keyboard... And the Silberlinge, with those delicious hard plastic seats. That's DB in my eyes!!
Well, after you've made a 143, a 112 and 114 are very low-hanging fruit. The only other ex-Reichsbahn locos are the 155 and 204, bringing the total to five, three of which are almost identical. For ex-Bundesbahn stuff, we've got the 110, 111, 103, 218, 363, 628, ICE1, and the Karlsruhe Cab Car, which is... let's say seven and a half for the cab car. So, yes, a freight "Einheitslok" is an obvious gap in the collection, but there aren't actually "so many" ex-DR trains compared to ex-DB ones. (And as noir said, the Reichsbahn locos tended to stick around longer in real life - there still are 143s, 112s and 114s in DB service in 2024, but DB hasn't had 110s in revenue service for years now)
Lokomotion 139 would be epic. In fact, Lokomotion also have Vectron and Traxx units in their remarkable livery. They are available on Creators Club but I would love a more official pack with Lokomotion units.
