Creator's Club has been a fantastic way to supplement already existing stock with recreations of other liveries and your own custom flare. What I've often been very baffled by is the choice to make it so that only the livery creator can set whether or not it shows up in the timetable as opposed to the user. It would be great to have the option, as the player, to disable and enable the AI using downloaded liveries without having to unsubscribe from them. It would be even better if you could set them to replace the default livery entirely in some cases, especially now that we have sub in trains on certain timetables like the LNR 350 for the TPE 350 on GCC or GWR HST for the ScR 7 Cities HST on E2G. This could work in a similar way to the layering toggle system that was added in TSW 5.
I often thought about that too! I would also add the possibility to maybe make it possible to choose if the livery for locos can spawn on freight and passenger trains or only one of them. I have a lot of liveries that are totally unrealistic for a passenger train, but really nice and realistic in front of freight trains
I salute this for all the above reasons! Liverys can make the differences in variety even its just the paint of the loco. LFR is a perfect example for this but also fails as only the DB Br 110 subs in the liveries. If the 103 would do this or even better, solicitrs "Silberling" Livery for the n-wagons, that would be fantastic and superbly fit the timeframe of a somewhat colorful Deutsche Bahn. There are lots of examples where i wouldn't want certain liveries to appear, so a toggle would be the perfect tool.
Oh yes, I‘ve thought about this so often too! I‘ve download a few old 80‘s liveries for the SRM BR111, but disliked them always subbing in on SRM, which was kinda immersion breaking. So I‘ve unsubscribed. But interesting to know that the creators can enable/disable substitution. Might explain why I‘ve never seen a BR103 repaint on anything else than my own train. But maybe the livery substitution for that loco is broken too lol. Anyways, lets give this thread some traction that they‘ll see it maybe. Shouldn‘t be too hard to implement.
I have a greater variety of 103 Repaints from the CC and none showed up. I would assume that at least some of the creators would have choosen to let the repaint sub in, so i suspect there is another barrier or problem. Another examples might be the Metronom Repaints on Hamburg-Lübeck which would suite the route quite good i recon (im not actually sure they did drove that route as im not from that area). The quite famous IC2 livery for the DRA Dostos is another great example. It provides some more gameplay possibilities even its not very accurate, but is completely disturbing within S-Bahn consist.
Depends on route I think but they tend not to if you spawn in a default liveried train. Try spawning on foot.
Not to necropost on this, but l was curious about a similar idea and this post fits the bill. What about settings per route to blend in custom loco liveries and wagon liveries? Separate settings on each route, with a 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% blend option for locos and blend option for rolling stock. I'd also like to see an instance option on liveries with a yes/no field to indicate if it is a unique loco spawn (yes) or part of a generic scheme to be spawned (no). This way immersion isn't broken by having a unique heritage unit, but multiple instances of it. Same could be said for simple renumbers of a custom livery. If there are any exceptions where not enough loco variants are spawned, there should be a generic alert upon scenario/timetable start followed by default locomotives/wagons spawning in place of whatever settings could not be fulfilled to prevent loco operation. This would help to fill a void in the meantime of operating different lines in a different time period for fallen flags (I'm thinking Sand Patch Grade could be retro built to utilize only GP38s/SD40s for B&O/Chessie) or other maps that appear could suit other purposes (I love CNJ, and Clinchfield to me gives the little big railroad vibes of CNJ in Mauch Chunk area). Since these would be per map instances, settings could be rolled out as such.
