Dovetail Games Instructions For Playstation Players Who Don't Own Tsw 4

The issue Chris (on PS5) is that when selecting to download the TSW5 compatible add ons many of them enter your download list showing as the TSW4 version. Some are correctly showing as the TSW5 version, but not many.

 

I had already deleted all my DLC yesterday. The PSN store only wants to deliver me TSW3 or TSW4 DLC. I already tried restoring my licenses. Restarting the PS5 but every DLC I try to download still has the TSW4 logo

 

I have TSW4 installed and fully functional Now I have the new TSW5 Deluxe and I'm downloading the TSW5 Compatible Addons, however as I mentioned above some have the TSW4 icon Does DTG really think we're all idiots with this problem?

EDIT: We have currently downloaded the Rhein Ruhr Hauptstrecke with the TSW4 logo, although it was a TSW5 Compatibile Addon and I hear that it works in TSW5....the TSW4 version probably wouldn't work, or am I wrong about DTG?

 

Same problems,I also live in the Netherlands ,iam on ps5 also a problem with routes not showing ,feels like old over the gigerbite limit thing is back,so far tried restoring licenses and even reinstalling game no luck

Yes, that's how we proceed, as you can see from the screenshot above, there are some addons with the TSW4 logo

 

I think they are not understanding our problem

 

or I don't want to, because I consider it a bit of a shame

and I consider the fact that I am turning the customer into an incompetent user completely unfortunate

I have same issue downloading from within tsw5 my owned content get this. when you select tsw5 map for ps5 it starts to download the map but as you can see from top right of screen PlayStation starts downloading a pack with tsw4 logo. About 50% of my dlc has done this.

 

Fingers crossed my post with pictures will get the message to dtg

 

We are doing exactly as you say yet the store is providing TSW4 versions only for a lot of add ons (plus the usual PS4 versions in addition). It is not us doing it wrong, the store is providing the wrong version or the tile shown alongside the download is wrong.

On PS5 the downloads are grouped. As long as your downloads are grouped as TSW5 and PS5 they will install and appear in the game. Even if the downloads themselves don’t have the TSW5 logo. At least until now. I’m missing some loco’s, but the reason for this could be that I have not installed all the routes yet.

 

Remind us again why having to go through this ridiculous download/cancel process every year is a great idea...

 

There were some issues with the PS store, routes are made available one by one now

 

The logo being TSW4 doesn't seem to make any difference, as long as you download everything that in 'manage game content' doesn't say it is 'shared with' anything else then they appear ok in game.

 

Yes I tried that also. Seems like the store is slowly delivering the correct DLC. Some now download as TSW5 and some still download as TSW4. A bit like a lottery. But I guess soon all DLC will be delivered correctly

 

Yes it works. Downloaded mine via the in game store. Just make sure to stop the PS4 download when on PS5 ;-)

 

Yes, we know how to use our PS5s. It is trying to download TSW4 versions. TSW5 versions aren't available for over 20 of my DLC.

 

They are the TSW5 DLC. Just showing the TSW 4 logo atm. It works.

 

For me, it only offers the PS4 and PS5 version of the given DLC for TSW5 (some with the TSW4 logo), the version for TSW4 doesn't offer it, probably because I have the TSW4 version installed in TSW4....

it's chaos, but I hope it calms down and everything will work....hopefully

 

For the moment I only downloaded the DLC I want to play tonight. I'll get to the rest later.

 

Hi Chris, the above instructions to download PS5 compatible content doesn't actually work.
When going to download TSW5 free in game library, it doesn't show up unless you've already downloaded it. I don't get the option to download all. Just the main game. Once downloaded there is no option to download all my compatible content. This means I have to go to the ps store and download every add on separately, which also drags down PS4 versions too. Can you advise please?

 

I noticed the same thing. Multiple versions and nothing showing up in game. I went to the store while in game and saw the "FREE/GET NOW" button and tried that. It still didn't show, but when I closed the game and restarted it, the route was there. Then I tried going to the PS store (With the game closed) and just searched "Train Sim World 5" and then went down to add-ons and it had a row of add-ons only for TSW5. I just selected "show all" and it just had content for TSW5. I then selected the ones marked "Free" and hit download. It will say "Queued for download" on the white oval button, but if you click on it, it shows the progress. I noticed that it was saying "Ready to use" at the top of the screen, but it was just downloading and not installing. This method installs it. Make sure the white oval button says "Installed." This is for PS5.

 

Although this thread is the only one with vaguely accurate instructions for those moving from TSW4 to TSW5, as it at least explains that you have to claim all your free items, whereas the other thread is under the false impression that everything will have magically been claimed for you.

The video on the other thread starts off by sending you to 'manage content', none of the TSW5 content will even appear in that list until you've claimed each download. That video then goes on to suggest manually searching for the name of each missing download, when the much easier solution is to press down while on the game tile until you reach add-ons, then select all add-ons on the right hand side of that list. That will then list all the add-ons for the game, just click on each 'free' one and download, much much quicker than manually searching for each add-on by name.

 

I believe everything is installed now (still need to check more thoroughly). I’ve noticed however that also the TSW4 and TSW3 versions are visible in ‘manage content’ (but ‘not installed’). A bit silly to see every available version in this list. In the TSW4 version I never saw the previous versions in ‘manage content’.

 

Yeah have those too. Seems odd some routes I now have 3 copies of in manage game content!

 

If the response to pointing out the errors in the video is to tell me to watch the exact same video then I guess I'll take that as my cue to give up offering feedback.

 

Not going well on PS5. I've been at it all evening. I've tried to install addons from the Manage my content area, the individual dlc pages, and via the app.
Some dlc download fine, others download Tsw4 version and work OK. Others download TSW4 version and don't show.
It's a pain and I've given up. Got about a third of the content installed. I own it all except the expert 101 so I'll try again tomorrow.
Please work out a way to make the dlc show the TSW5 icon if they are for TSW5 and make sure only TSW5 content shows in the manage my content section instead of dlc for earlier games. Thanks.

 

So I just need someone to clarify before I waste downloads. On PS5 I select the DLC in the store that says free, I click download, and it does download into PS5 version however icon says TSW4. Is that just cosmetic and it will work, or is it better to wait and someone at DTG and Sony are getting this icon thing fixed? If so will the icon automatically change to TSW5 icon or will redownloading have to reoccur?

 

Yeah, I just wanted to ask this as well.
I’m about to download 43 add-ons and would rather not waste my time if there are still any issues. If some of the icons are indeed the TSW4 ones, how am I supposed to differentiate between the TSW5 versions and the older ones which usually start downloading at the same time because of the way the entitlements are set up?

 

The TSW4 icon is cosmetic, as long as you install everything that doesn't say 'shared with TSW3/4' on the 'manage content' screen, it will appear and function ok in game.

I ended up cancelling all the downloads that claimed to be TSW4, then set them all going again via the manage content screen, ignoring the duplicates shared with TSW3 and TSW4. If you end up accidentally downloading content for TSW4 and don't still have the base game installed then if you go to storage it will appear at the bottom of the list as missing base game, you can delete that item to clear wasted space.

 

Thank you, good to know. It's funny Sony is releasing a PS5 Pro yet they cannot even get their things right with the PS5. DTG must pull their hair out sometimes dealing with console companies.

 

To be fair, Sony probably never planned for a developer releasing a 'new' game every year that comes with 100+ DLCs the customers already own. In an ideal world there would be a way for all the entitlements to be granted automatically, but who is going to pay to build that functionality when TSW is literally the only game that does this.

 

Good point. There are ways around it such which would require core work as for example when you download TSW5 technically all DLC is bundled in but locked. Each time a new DLC comes the game has an auto update of actually putting that DLC in. Then it checks your licence and if purchased its unlocked.
Other games out there do it this way. Ubisoft with their season passes, if you purchased the expansions and the expansion is released it's only kbs downloaded, prior to that the game did have a big update which technically put that expansion in the game on your storage.

Major disadvantage though with that is I'm sure there are people out there that don't want TSW to take up 250GB+ of storage especially if they only own 10 or so of the DLC as an example.

 

It really isnt that difficult people, I used the phone app but it works the same on console. I went to the TSW5 game. Selected the add-ons button and then downloaded the routes I previously owned, which said "Free" on them. There was no TSW4 logo popping up because the add-on was only valid for TSW5 because I specifically was on the TSW5 game and then to its add-on section in the app. All I had to do was cancel the PS4 downloads.

 

We're not idiots. That's what most of us have done. About 40 dlc have downloaded that way with the TSW5 icon. Others with the tsw4 icon but they work. Many download with the tsw4 icon but don't show.

So you’re saying you have downloaded West Somerset Railway and it’s actually appearing in your game on PS5? As an example.

I’ve just posted this over In troubleshooting but looks like the issue is being discussed here.

Given the replies from DTG in this thread though, I suspect this isn’t going to get very far.

I can’t even check what locos I’m missing, because they’re bundled into livery options on other locos & then others are dependent on routes which I may or may not have installed, but again can’t tell because some of them are labelled TSW4 & not 5.

This is a mess.

 

Cajun pass showing? Own all DLC but even when just downloading all DLC with proper TSW5 icon only 20x routes show in game.. total routes installed 37x. And you’re right it is supposed to be easy when it works. Sounds like a fault with the Addon Manager in TSW5
