I'm looking to try to ascertain which layers add player and/or AI services to another. My goal is to work our which would be a good DLC to purchase in order to make another as busy as possible. Lets take Glasgow Central which we see on Cathcart Circle. Is there a nice graphic (for example) that shows which add-ons will make it come alive with traffic. And I guess more recently, if I decide to get TSW5, how to determine which other DLC are needed to make the TSW5 routes as busy as possible. Any thoughts/help appreciated.
For WCCL I think the only route that provides it layers is Goblin. I am sure if you have any routes in mind put them here and we'll help out as I have never come across a simple guide of any sorts.
Mainly interested in WCML and the german route. I notice on various streams the class 700 on WCML. Where does that come from? That's just one example. Would be nice to work out how routes are linked. And given the TSW5 WCML adds some new trains to drive (not sure which ones to be hones outwith the Pendolino you need to purchase), where with those new clases appear?
No 700 mate, not in the timetable, they must have used free roam and spawned it randomly as they don't run there in real life. For WCCL I believe the only layer is the class 710 from Goblin, then the 390 is available to purchase separately. Haven't the foggiest about the German route.
Got this from a previous poster,DLC Details - TSW Tracker have a look on the rightside when you click on a link ,Tells you the dlc needed to add layers to selected dlc .
The new Layer selector screen in TSW5, well tell you what is required to activate each layer, as well as what each layer is.
I would say that's not always the case. the layers that show might not be active on the timetable. A good example is NYT. shows all the layers but they are not active on the timetable. NYT has zero freight layers active, but it shows as is they were
The problems are: It is not reliable (for example the TGV layer at Frankfurt - Fulda gives you nothing). It does not tell you exactly what it is giving you (AI, 1 service, 1000 services?).
I wouldn't go on the path of sorting out what DLC layers well because you will end up buying every DLC but this site made it comprehensive for me
Have a look at the DTG Gameplay guides: https://dovetailgames.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/folders/80000678884 They give information on supported layers. In game the Layers button has automatically generated content and is therefore less reliable. It is only meant to deactivate layers for performance reasons.
The game itself has a feature that shows what layers are available for a route and allows them to be turned on/off You get there after choosing a route, there is a layers button now
Hi TinTin. I missed your post first tim round. My fault. It sounds from the text you were pointing me at a video which had a description which included the layer info I was looking for. I maybe being stupid, but I can't see what the link is you were pointing me at. Could you be so kind as to repost please?
The Layers screen is (to me) almost incomprehensible! As an example, the TSW5 Fulda line has this in it I have LGV Med so not sure what that means. And the line below?!#

The line below is the IC + Taurus. It requires: The IC coaches from the normal BR101 DLC from DTG (NRM_DB_BR101) meaning not the Expert BR 101 from TSG. the Taurus from the Semmeringbahn DLC.
Try the Google spreadsheet below - it's what I use. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UKHp810bCFdbXWhhmnYzyISBja6wiEQ4tBs8h2DyFJM/edit?gid=0#gid=0
