So, using Steam's 2hr refund policy for things, I quick bought the deluxe edition to do some early looks at San Bernardino, and here is a few things to note about the route....

    1. LATC is in, but at what cost?

So one of my biggest disappointments with the route is with LATC, while Im glad DTG has finally added it in (When it was missing in AVL) The entire yard is inaccessible, you can't fly a camera in there (Without doing some work) and the whole area is a kill area, which will end any session attempting to enter the area....

Which I guess makes sense. since the scenery isnt modeled well when you can get in there. Just a shame it isnt usable for Free Roam switching.....

It is worth noting, that both Cane Creek and the UP Heritage Unit pack layer into the scenery though.....

    2. Floating assets are still a problem.

While I know some issues may still present when trying to finish a route, there is still some very notisable bugs with buildings along the short section of the route I looked at....

This house being the biggest offender.

A nice washout under a fence?

    3. Questionable notes on industries.

I find it odd that MHX (This industry located here near Auto Club Speedway) is not "accessible" for switching, despite the yard being full of cars.

Though the gates are just a suggestion (However a killwall exists so, you cant do anything anyway)

On the other side, this located off the mainline, I believe is accessible, but looks basic and barren as hell....

    Especially compared to IRL
    [IMG]

    4. Auto Club's Grandstands need max draw distance to be viewable from the tracks.

Not sure how it looks on console, but my default settings on PC, I couldn't see Auto Clubs grandstands from the tracks.

    Track at systems default settings.

    Track at max draw distance
    [IMG]

Will say the grandstands do look good for what they are. +1 to DTG on that.

    5. Freight stuff.

Just some of the freight stuff, most of it is yard switching, weekend adds some extra stuff at San Bernadino.

    6. Still too many European trailers.

Serious DTG, please make proper US semi trailers.....

    A few other notes...

-The SBL service that starts in Redwood is actually ran backwards, with a locomotive leading towards LAUPT.

-Inland Empire trains are playable, but those are just a 2 station run.

-The Kaiser Hauler train gets routed into a 35mph siding for no reason, something that has been an issue since Clinchfield (When player trains get routed into siding with no oncoming traffic)

Cant think of anything else atm, will do a more thourogh search when the game fully releases later.

I think its important to remember that this is a passenger route that happens to have some freight interaction. LATC isn't a playable area and was never advertised as such, it basically exists as a place for AI trains to come and go from in my understanding. Its not really "part of the route" other than what you are meant to see as you pass by.

In regards to the reversed sets... that is something that apparently happens on Metrolink... I am not sure how often. AVL had at least one service that did that.

I think I mentioned it on the stream that we left one service I believe was 281 reversed on purpose we actually ran into in real life they actually we found more of them to actually have been flipped so that actually happened more often than we actually thought as far as you know going into the free room and looking around and that’s the issue they didn’t if we would’ve made some areas more accessible then people will be bringing that up and that’s something that they didn’t want and so we gotta be careful with that so we can be wanting to open areas, but but then say that the area is scenery is not complete .so it’s one of those things that we we gotta be careful what we want. and honestly, I want more open, but that was the kind of feedback that I got was that they didn’t want players to bring up if those those areas scenery one they were not on the work scope. I hope that makes sense and sorry I I did the speech text

I just find it interesting that its the one service that doesn't "start" on the map being the one that is turned backwards, just in case anyone wants to run the route that way.

Also with LATC, I'm just trying to make the most of what DTG gives us for freight, so if something looks accessible, I'm gonna try and access it, though looking overhead, if LATC were to be properly usable DTG would of had to model about 1.5 more miles of the Alhambra sub down to the Boca Ave crossing, which obvious would of been kind of pointless for a passenger centric route.

Eh, maybe when DTG makes a Pacific Surfliner/Orange County Line route in the future, LATC can be more accessible.

I appreciate the feedback and yeah I mean we really try to make LATC assessable, but is it wasn’t on the on the workscope . We would’ve wanted the whole area to be open . but as you pointed out the area to the back is not complete. None of that was on the scope. we will continue to get feedback and can’t make any promises on anything but you know we’ll take all the feedback and see if anything can be done to some of the areas as far as making them accessible.

DTG Matt I remember you personally addressing this back with BNSF SD70ACe. What happened to the "easy fix"?

That was for the trailers on the tractor-trailers that came with the SD70ACe add-on.
The trailers on these before had 3 wheels. I don’t believe he ever stated that these would be used for assets. (Correct me if I’m wrong though)

If you fix that and don't use it when the US setting is in question again, the problem may be different, but it's still a problem.

Those are also still container chassis on trailers, not dry vans or reefers that are usually seen on highways or modern TOFC

Series s, the article didn’t say anything about limitation on series s, I think it might be because the other compatible content isn’t out yet for Xbox.

Hello, I am also on Series S and have the same problem with the Deluxe edition, CJP is downloaded and playable in TSW5, and the layer editor shows that CJP layers are selected and active for SBD, but no CJP layers actually show up for SBD timetable or as static stock or AI. I was also wondering if this would be ready in the 17th, although since CJP comes with TSW5 and is not just simply compatible content, that doesn't exactly make sense. Thanks.

One of the Beta tester confirmed the same issue with the Xbox series S that you guys are having. He opened a Jira ticket and will keep updated once we hear something back. Unfortunately It's Friday so we don't expect to hear anything to Monday the earliest. Sorry about this.

Just as a follow-up, I do not appear to have any "Speedway Extras" or "Holiday Train" in the timetable either, although they are both actively selected as layers (neither timetable appears to work for Holiday Train). I haven't noticed that this was previously reported. Series S

The holiday train is not a current activate layer on any platform. The speedway layers should be 6 services on Saturday (3 on the MP36/F125 and 3 on the cab car). still waiting on the S sending another request this morning for an update

Yeah I definitely don't have those Speedway services, even with the layer selected. As a side note this makes the mastery impossible because one of the tasks is to drive a speedway service. Thanks for looking into this.

Some Services don’t Show the Speed Limits anymore on the newer Mini HUD

  29. It's so good to see someone so energised in getting this route to be all it can be, and I was really impressed with your focus and professional approach during the stream.

A note of caution which I hope isn't overstepping boundaries-
    1) don't become personally invested. Know when to put it down and know when to roll with outcomes against which you have exhausted your ability to influence.
    2) don't become personally responsible for the failings of others, unless they are reporting to you and thus you have oversight responsibilities.

I just don't want someone who clearly has ability and enthusiasm to get chewed up and spit out by the larger machine, and it's just something to really just file in the back of your mind, if you feel it has merit.
    Otherwise, truly impressive.

One of the things that caught me off in my first playthrough of the route was the misplacement of the stopping marks at Rancho Cucamonga. I'm pretty sure there was one other place, but i'd have to do another run to make sure

I’d put this in another thread for someone bringing up the stop markers in Rancho so I’ll put it here too since it’s good info.

With regard to the stop marker signs at Rancho Cucamonga, this is actually realistic and another testament to the detail that went into this route. The reason they are like that is that eastbound Metrolink trains used to use the opposite track, and since the platforms are offset, that was where the signs needed to be. It appears that new signs have not yet been put in irl to account for eastbound trains using track 2 now.

  33. The attention to detail is pretty impressive. It means that items like those boards rapidly become items of historical curiosity, and engenders confidence in the integrity of the route.
I am actually very impressed at that.

I just got this line and noticed on the Journey Mode -- it starts by giving you the training on the MP36PH-3C and the F125 -- but NONE of the routes or scenarios use the F125 -- you would have thought they would have dropped a few F125 timetable runs into the journey at least!

Actually enjoying the route but there’s multiple broken level crossings and some very delayed level crossings. Surprised that these didn’t get picked up during testing as it’s pretty sloppy to have issues that are that obvious in a hyped release

What type of hardware he has and how many times has he ran the route. I have this on PC and Xbox x and I have no issues. The first few times you will get the usual stutters but after performance should be good

My performance has been about the same on all the base routes. A few stutters here and there from the first play through.

I played a service going about half the route and a scenario going the other direction and my performance was about 45fps average with the usual amount of stutters. My setup is a radeon 7700 with a ryzen 7 cpu, running on high at 1600p. I've also enabled dx12 so it helps with performance a little bit

    Terrible is also very subjective

Will say, whoever made these static consists in San Bernardino, did a good job, a nice mix of cars, though I wish they mixed some of the unbranded yellow boxcars in there as well.

SB performance is fine for me. 4080 48gb of ram running at 2K with screen at 200% and dx12 turned on all settings as high as they can be. I cap it at 60fps for streaming. Without the cap it gets into the low hundreds a lot of the time and averages in the 90s. Storage is also very important I run it on a very fast NVME SSD.

    So, DTG's F7 "Railtour" train...
    2967990_20240921104134_1.png 2967990_20240921104148_1.png

Based on the consist, I wanna say its based on of BNSF's Employee specials.
    BNSF Employee Special_6-11-2010_026.jpg

Though it looks weird since it uses coaches from other routes. Not a fan of it, but not fussed since its only seen once in a short timeframe, and can be turned off in the layer control.

    Ah ok.

(Though its funny cause the F7's owned by the Galveston Railroad Museum, are not of ATSF heritage)

So can you not have freight trains on san bern route? or you just cannot go into LATC? This route would sell much more if it had both freight and passenger on it. As a matter fact any route will sell that has both. I am on the fence about buying this route because i am more of a freight person than a passenger one but, I do like passenger trains also.
