Benjamin has scored and composed some of the best music in a game, i would love a toggle like in MSFS2020 an option to switch between the TSW3, 4 and 5 music, all 3 games have some fantastic scores, and i think we should be able to choose our menu music, DTG make it happen

Agree. Much prefer TSW4 music to tsw5. Music was less ominous than tsw5 music.

This would be great. The TSW3 music was peaceful and not too intense, perfect for a menu screen. Unfortunately, I've found the music for 4 & 5 too intrusive and intense for a menu screen so I've had to turn them off. Don't get me wrong, they are still good and praise should be given to whoever made the music.

Same, I was creating a scenario and the menu music is nice for the first 10 minutes, but just started to grate after that, so had to turn it off.

First thing I did in the TSW5 menu was turn all the music off.

So, why did you turn the music off? Did you not like the music?

I just hate repetitive “ambient” music in menus! Nothing wrong with it otherwise. Just me being a grouchy old git.

Or another way to look at it is, you gain a certain wisdom as you mature not to just put up with things you don't have to just because.....

Me too. Not my kind of background music for a train game. In an elevator maybe?

If I have to listen to music, how about something more appropriate like " The Chattanooga Choo Choo " or " City of New Orleans ? ";)

Same here. Always have done after launch. Never knew it played in scenario creator either. Glad I've turned it off. Would drive me up the wall.

I genuinely don't get the communities need/fixation on menu music, it's the same over on the TSC forum, with TSC there was a discussion regarding changing the shunting clanks and engines revving with some crappy virtual orchestrated nonsense that most were calling nostalgic for some odd reason, I much prefer the shunting clanks as quiet ambient background noise in the menu and if I had a choice I'd put that in TSW5 too.

Yes, I'd much rather have the choice. This new music is baffling - it's harsh and tense.

Yes, I much prefer TSW4's music, though I reckon they should go a step further than TSW4 and get Depeche Mode in for the main menu music not just the trailer!;)

I don't get it too. I'm not hanging around in menus, and have Youtube podcasts in the background usually.

I must say that I really like the new menu music, but would also love an option to toggle between the TSW3-5 music and perhaps even the OG TSW2020 menu tune!

Sooo.. How long before you mod the shunting sounds from TSC into TSW5?

    Asking for a friend..

I'd rather use Underworld's "Dark Train" (Trainspotting OST) as menu music :D :D :D

I do quite like the music from TSW3, would probably be my pick if I was able to choose between all the TSW menu music. Though I am a fan of the current TSW5 music!

Fun fact, there’s a not-so-secret option in the settings that allows you to listen to the TSW2 menu music ;)

    DTG Harry
sorry to Flagg you direct harry but thought best way to know someone at DTG has seen the convo.

is it possible to raise this at DTG towers that the menu music would be cool to allow us to choose our favourite music sound track from the different versions of TSW.

(Also loved your new headset attachments in the preview stream so much more bold than matts cat ears)

I definitely think they should give us the option to change it. TSW3 had great music that I really miss but TSW4 was far too bombastic, and this game has made the same mistake. I don't want to turn the music off because the game feels a bit sterile and lifeless then.

I was going to suggest this and you beat me to it
I have always wanted to option to change menu music, DTG has produced some great menu music including We are rail fans (TS Classic). I would love to be able to change it every week or so.

Listening to TSW3 music at the same time put me back there. I started the game here so maybe it's the association with newness, but the music manages to stir up that frisson of excitement in me, all the possibilities of fun and adventure ahead.
    TSW4? Meh.
5?, will give it time but might actually mute it as it seems incongruous to the style of game, at least to me.

TSW2 didn't have any music, so the option is called mute.

There is the 'Welcome Aboard' song that never seems to get used anywhere. The Train Sim World 5 song is amazing, and I listen to it regularly now (along with the previous editions) but I am wondering what 'Welcome Aboard' is meant to be used for. Could it be that this was the intended menu music?

I do like about the first 30 seconds of the menu music, but after that, it seems like it tries to hard at being the soundtrack of a Mission Impossible movie. I liked the previous versions because it had an actual band I believe, and it sounded classical. Hopefully we get the option to change at some point.

There were mods for TSW3 that changes the menu music, but I don't know how they work and most of them were withdrawn from the TS Community website. I assume that there's a WAV file somewhere that can be changed, but it's probably kept in a PAK file and I have no idea how to modify or even open them.

I like the music and how it uses the same motifs as the TSW4 track but with an almost Deus Ex kind of vibe to it. Would say TSW4 was my favourite soundtrack overall though.

    • TSW2020-TSW2 had a rather generic music theme that showed up sometimes (during boot up/loading screens I believe). It wasn’t anything special (I don’t even know if it was composed for TSW or just taken from somewhere else), but it had a relaxed and inviting vibe. Definitely better than no music at all.
    • TSW3’s music was great. Kept it relatively simple, but the weather sounds made it very cozy and authentic.
    • TSW4 sort of built a bit on TSW3, but it was a bit to classical for my taste. It’s a video game after all, I want to feel some sort of excitement when I boot it up.
    • TSW5 is my favorite probably. I listen to house music DJ sets from time to time (the German DJ/producer trio Keinemusik is great!), so I really like the sudden “beat switch” in the theme. Makes me excited to hop in the cab. The other track that is apparently not used in-game, but was uploaded to YouTube by the composer, is cool as well.

I noted this in the feedback forum, but to me the music for TSW5 very much has a dark vaporwave TRON vibe to it...

While I don't dislike it, I don't think it really fits in thematically with the game. It stands out too much from the background and makes me feel like I'm about to light cycle battle other programs on the grid, rather than run trains along the English countryside.

I much preferred the music from TSW4, as it was better suited as easy-listening background music that fit better with the game genre.

Personally I have quite liked the menu music all the way through to TSW5. It’s tasteful without being in your face, and the volume can be adjusted in the audio menu.
