Hello, I now have TSW5 and have found some errors. Are the games even tested? I think it's hardly ever tested, as you can already see on YouTube.

Just going to point out that it is tested, that's not the problem.

The problem lies with the testers being listened to.

Also dont forget the majority of the Beta testers were let go because of the two dinlows that decided it would be cool to leak up coming TSW 5 stuff about a month and a half before release. Want someone to have a go at, Have a go at the 2 dinlows that leaked the stuff.

Stop using them as a scapegoat, it ain't a excuse. Also, this issue has been existing even before the leaks :)

You cannot deny it has caused issues though, surely. If not then what was the point in having them?

The leak definitely caused issues. I'd put money on it being a driving factor in LNWR revoking their license.

Truthfully, I always thought that was an overreaction on DTG's part. Keeping the whole class behind because a couple of the kids misbehaved. As a former teacher, I never did that.

Regardless of the Beta team situation, regardless of what they could have brought upto DTG, whatever went on with WCML was already well underway by that point.

There are also several rounds of testing (or should be) before a product goes to ‘beta’.

It’s not for me to say if the beta team does or doesn’t have any effect on a product that close to release, but the amount of things wrong with TSW content shouldn’t be left for Beta testers to discover. That is far too late.

obviously you weren’t a teacher in the military… Company punishment was a great tool for getting peer pressure to “correct” a few dimwits into toeing the line… a whole platoon missing a weekend pass because of one person’s screwup was usually a self correcting problem. :)

Not sure if it applies in this or many other situations, and now back to our regular thread :)

Well, unfortunately for you but happily for the rest of us, where most of us live, the generals are under civilian control, so military justice doesn't apply.

I'd be happy to recommend some places you could live where you could punish a bunch of innocent beta testers to your heart's content. :D

Nice for DTG that they now even have a good excuse for not testing isn't it ?

If that had even an impact that close to release, that would tell a story on its own. At this time the game should already be in its final stages. When they only start testing weeks before full release how would they even be able to fix substantial problems ?

Its the same as it was last year and the year before that, the leak situation had absolutely no impact as we got the same untested stuff as always. But sure, blame the leakers, not the million dollar developer who has a faulty qa from the the very first.

Good questions! But DTG's quality control was always horrible. They would sit on known and logged issues for years. This incident changed nothing.

And this ties back into the original question. Things are tested and reported, but the issue usually is with delivering fixes.

I used to report issues with the LIRR M3 way back when it released, even got answers stating that they could reproduce them and therefore logged them. It took them years to actually fix them, and they only did so whem LIRR v2 released.

Or the famous Trunk Service scenario on RSN, which got broken with the release of TSW2, was known for years, but is only getting fixed now for TSW5.

Stuff like this is normal for Train Sim World. The amount of bugs and terrible designs that you'll encounter from day one is abysmal, no matter when you join the game.
Things get reported, tickets submitted and promises of content updates and upgrades made (SKA timetable upgrade, anyone?), but most will go unanswered, or receive fixes when the game is multiple incarnations down the line.
The game is tested and problems are noted, but unfortunately, most are ignored to meet the projected release date and next year's new game, to keep the wheels of business turning, albeit with a dragging park brake.

Why should we test Dovetail, and why are you telling us not to think? :o

Because you have to make sure it's a tight fit before you glue it up- no, glue as a gapfiller doesn't work. It should take a gentle tap with a mallet to seat it.
