TSW 5 Editor Cooking and Paking v2.1 so after figuring out how to do multiple original plugins into one pak file i decided to release update for my cooking and paking This new version support cooking for TSW 4 and TSW 5 in TSW 5 editor. You just need to check the chekbox if you want TSW 5 or not. Difference is only which file is generated for .pak file because TSW 4 is still using .dlc while TSW 5 is using new .ugc (they work with .dlc too of course. And of course new version support adding multiple original plugins into one .pak file - while you can add multiple original plugins into the version 2.0 but in the game its not working because it can read only one AssetRegistry file per .pak file. So i made a little tool to make that work. You can download it here: https://www.trainsim.cz/?mod=article&showid=2803 ----------------------------- While everybody trusted DTG that they will release editor finally with cooking, i was working on version 2.0 of my mod. Changes which i did are mostly for the distribution part because TSW 5 is using .ugc file to see the user generate content. And because my first version was just quickly made i decide to completely rework it. Now its looking better, it can detect cooked stuff so if you dont see your plugin in distribution part then its not really cooked. It got text field to type require DLCs (if you are creating for example route and you are using assets from different routes then you suppose to type DLCs there so the game know which DLCs are required and if user dont have them the assets will not load. Another think is that you can only add one original plugin into the .pak file (you can add a lot of not your original plugins) because the game can read only one AssetRegistry.bin file from the .pak. Im working on solution so you will be able to add more original plugins - but that solution will take some time and i dont want to keep the utility unreleased until i figure that part out... so here is your cooking and paking for TSW 5 Editor... enjoy version 2.0 You can download it here: https://www.trainsim.cz/?mod=article&showid=2801 And of course you can support my work on my page with small donation
its crazy that community creators, who are working for completely nothing at all and purely out of their love for the game they play, do a better job than the multi million pound company that made the game in the first place.
Surely not everybody. That's for many reasons. In big companies, the knowledge is distributed over many people, each only knowing a piece of the whole puzzle. I'm sure Muff knows the game better than TSW's Executive Producer. The other reason is modders are driven by their desire to make content and improve the experience, and are not required to keep to company policies. DTG has no financial benefit from adding the features properly - they think they'd not benefit from freeware being released - their doctrine was to treat everyone, console or PC, the same. Hence letting PC users only play with the editor, checking out project threads and recruiting talented creators, but not more. You got exactly what they wanted you to get. Thanks for your work.
Thats why they call it "beta"! And they give many warnings that the Editor is an unstable product and not fully up and running is to use. What did you expect otherwise?!
Except the editor isn't the only example of the community being left to fix something! A lot of the mods on trainsimcommunity.com are there to either fix bugs that were promised to be fixed years ago, or to improve the situation with some routes that were left abandoned (WCL, ik its rivet but still)! You don't see any routes advertised as BETA, even though most of them are barely even alpha! Stop defending DTG when they have done something wrong!
Thank you for getting this fix out, been waiting to cook my updated Niddertalbahn timetable. I'm having an issue with the 642 which is prevening it cooking. It seems the 642 folder included in the patch is preventing the 642 from being read by the editor once the zip file has been extracted.
You copy only from zip stuff which you dont have. If you own 642 then you dont copy that. Users who dont own that cant cook because they dont own 642 so solution is to have empty plugin for not owners. If you own some other plugins then you dont use them from the zip. Important from the zip are the ones which are overwriting DTG stuff because in their settings is even consoles.
I'm probably being an idiot here. I'm trying to cook my scenario and it fails, I'll attach the error log because it's probably something I've done wrong, like I've missed a step or something. (doing a complete clear out and reinstall of TSW5 then the editor just in case I had rogue files lying about!)
Fixed it. I had to unblock a lot of files to do with the automation in Windows Thanks for the work trainsimcz
With this version, I always get this error: "The platform name XSX is not a valid platform name." While this platform is listed in the original uplugin file for TS2Prototype, it isn't contained in the modified one from this zip.

Update 2.1.1 last version 2.1 dont generate correct .ugc file for TSW 5, now its fixed. You can download fix here: https://www.trainsim.cz/?mod=article&showid=2803, look for the file named TSW5_Cooking_and_EditorTools_2.1.1.zip, its just a fix, so you will still need to download version 2.1 if you dont download it before.
Not sure if that is working. My package has cooked as it should. I'm setting the plugin to TSW5, and it isn't showing in the game despite the pak being in the correct DLC folder. All was working fine until you updated. Do you have any ideas? I can grab a log of the cook and the packing if necessary EDIT: User error my end, all working now
Having a bit of trouble with this and hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have been using Trainsimcz's successfully for most of the year and have been building up a collection of formations and extra paths mods. I was starting to hit problems with older versions of this mod (asset upgrade delays....or something similar) so I thought I would update both my EPIC games files and this mod. Everything seems to have upgraded correctly but I have one issue but, for me, it is a vital one that is stopping me from doing any more work. The problem is that I can't now drag and drop files in to the editor. I believe that this is a known problem as the read-me that comes with the download mentions dragging and dropping issues. Apparently the solution is to use Explorer as an Administrator but. for me, I can't seem to get that bit of the process to work. Also, when I fire up the editor, I now get a warning pop up that never used to happen before. Yes I can quick through it, and I could even permanently hide it, but worry about doing this if I can't drag my files in. Bearing in mind the work that I am doing requires me to move files around it is a big issue for me. So if anyone can give me any help, including simple steps to fix the problem, then I will be very grateful. Thanks. PS - I am still working in TSW4. Here's an example of what I have been up to. Unique formations on new pieces of track all placed using the normal scenario editor.
Can't get it to work as in; Running Explorer.exe in elevated mode or drag and drop still not working? You can use this link to enable elevated mode if that's the problem. https://www.thewindowsclub.com/run-explorer-elevated-in-administrator-mode
Ah yes. It would help if I was a bit clearer. I'll start with making sure I have the elevated mode bit correct first. I'll let you know how I get on. (Windows 11).
Thats known problem because of distribution button it require admin rights to work correctly. So if you want to drag and drop i recommend you some file manager (im using for example Total Commander) which you can run with admin rights and you dont have to mess with explorer. And its easy to just drag and drop files from file managet to Content browser.
Hi There. Can I first say "Thanks very much for your Editor mod" it has given great pleasure and, as a result, I am nearly ready to release a mod that will add a very large amount of formations to the game for everyone to use. Without your efforts I would have given up on the game ages ago. I have tried to solve the problem by running Explorer in elevated mode but that hasn't made any difference so far. To be honest I'm not too bothered with the Distribution Button as Easypak always worked well for me. Is it possible to roll back to an earlier version of the editor or might that be problematic now? I'll have a look at Total Commander. Is it easy to use as, to be honest, I'm pretty hopeless at this sort of thing and I don't want to get myself in a bigger muddle.
I think if you download one of the older versions and use just the bat file from one of them to start the editor it should work like before, it's what I used to do and it seemed to work but that was on TSW 4 editor.
Hi Everyone, I have good news. Total Commander seems to work for me. Not only have I been able to get my files back in to the editor but I have split a number off from one of my mods, cooked them under a new name and everything seems OK. The new pak file worked as intended. So I'm a happy bunny again Thanks to everyone who offered help. It is appreciated. Onwards and, hopefully, upwards
Well I'm pleased to say that despite my PC still acting a bit strange I have been able to do what I wanted to. So "Voila" here is a Peak hauling a pair of dead kettles in a formation that can be used in both Scenarios and Free Roam and that can, also, have community liveries applied to it.
Hi everyone. Thanks for the mod. I have been using it successfully for quite a while now. After the recent update from the EPIC store however, it isnt cooking for me. I get the error I never had this before. Any hints? Obviously i generated the asset registry as always
I have the same issue and can't cook my plugin anymore. Update: It turns out that these "errors" don't actually prevent cooking. I was able to cook the plugin and then pak it with trainsimcz tools. It loaded fine in the game with the changes I made.
I have tried this and can get my scenario into the game (i.e. .Pak file loads) however no trains exist in the scenario despite running OK in the editor. Am I specifying the required DLC correctly? Also I noticed that the mod requires me to create my plugin in the editors Plugin folder rather than DLC\Plugins, is this correct? Any help would be appreciated as reading this forum suggests that this mod should work to get self created scenarios into the game.
When you download the zip file, right click it then click on properties then at the bottom of the window it says something about security and that its from another computer, select the checkbox next to it that says something like unblock. Afterwards you should reinstall the zip file again and overwrite all files.
Lulon After cooking successfully and distributing, I have a message saying that the pak was save, but I can't find it in my folder. Any clues as to why?
Put it either in steamapps\common\Train Sim World 5\WindowsNoEditor\TS2Prototype\Content\DLC\ or Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld5\Saved\UserContent\ (you need to create the folder) The just start the game and your content should get loaded
