Game Event Train Sim World 5 - October Mastery Challenges Now Live!

I think it's more the fact they can trot out the PR team for this non essential nonsense, yet not a peep out of anyone either on the project management or community relations side about the numerous issues being raised since release. If it wasn't for the JT route in the offing, TSW5 is coming perilously close to being uninstalled here.

 

I can understand the frustrations for those experiencing the crashes on consoles. I, for one, have not had any performance problems with TSW5 on PC. Even though I usually cap my FPS at 60 and it maintains that through out the route, when uncapped I fluctuate between 90 and 120. I state this not to cause arguments or in anyway state that consoles are not having problems that need to be addressed ASAP, just state, for me, TSW5 is running smoothly.

P.S. In case you missed those posts as well, it looks like there were takers on these challenges, and my premonition that they might not work has been proven correct.

These Mastery challenges that DTG love so much whilst ignoring core problems in the game is like putting lipstick on a pig….

 

Why is it then that everything at DTG moves at a pace slower than snail through treacle? The external modding community are showing you guys up with the mods already released and the upcoming ones.
I am a PC player but fellow gamers on console are being treated with even more contempt!

 

I'd say that's wishful thinking. Master challenges still not tracking, and sometimes losing progress is nothing new and nothing DTG seems they can be bothered with. Btw, continuing to have sales and [EDIT - Jan - Language] on the rest of your other players using other methods to play is not wise. Game pass is moot, when it's inherent discount never compares and its due to game pass that a good majority of Xbox players even got introduced to TSW. Enough with the U.K. and German routes. It's not really TSW if you next to never even Leave Europe. If not U.S, you have the rest of N. America, S. America, Africa, Asia, Australia. Would love to see some historical routes from Michigan ore and logging days. Heard that TSC did as such in the past.

 

Unfortunately, sometimes logging out of Dovetail Live creating a new driver profile and logging back in to dovetail live fixes it. Not always certain route masteries, such as Midland tier 2 get stuck no matter what. At least on Xbox series x.

 

I understand your'e point but it makes no sense.... If there are people they love to anticipate at this community thing but there is no acceptable option why you choose to release this? To be honest is it not fair to withdrawn this community thing until the game is more in a state that everyone can experience the fun of it?!

 

DTG Harry by complete 5 timetables it means timetable services right?

PS5 live tab once you click you can only see the first 4 options and the scroll bar doesn’t seem to work.
Also the status doesn’t seem to update unless you close the game and reopen. Is this expected please? Thank you

 

Also I just did the navigation and interaction tutorial but this isn’t showing in the status??

As the colleague mentioned above, only part of the task is shown, the slider doesn't work... so the user can't see one of the tasks and can't complete the challenge... so this probably didn't work the first time either... too bad

To track the October Mastery specifically, not only because it shows the full 5/5 challenges (the ability to scroll also doesn't work on Xbox, and this isn't the only area of the game where you can't scroll text boxes either, the game is clearly optimised for PC first, console as an afterthought, but I digress), but also because some of the challenges in-game are actually different to those provided in the email/social media posts they'd provided previously.

 

I came here to bring this up but I see you guys already did. Good.

 

Here's the thing. Creating other countries requires licenses, access, knowledge and 3rd parties. How is dtg alone supposed to be experts in the entire world and create everything. That's impossible. Building dlc already takes long enough. That's where local people and development teams come in to help. Dtg are focusing on what they know best

 

Maybe you could also consider the people who already enjoy the game, despite its remaining minor bugs (like me) and also enjoy the monthly challenges. Not everyone has the same experience as you are having.

And like Jan said, fixing the bugs and launching the community challenges are not mutually exclusive.

 

with respect. Minor bugs isn’t what a lot of us are getting. I am getting regular random black screen back to X box Home Screen crashes. That’s not minor. That’s unplayable.

 

Minor Bugs... LMAO..... Anyways i im on pc and have less issues but the group users on consoles are hit very hard and no those are no "minor" issues. Please before you written such things check if you have a valid argument... And its called "community rewards".... Is not very community if a lot can not anticipate right?! Thats more that you belong to the community if you have a pc.....

 

For the record: I play on console (PS5). Furthermore: I am entitled to my opinion regarding the current state of the game, as are you. Agree to disagree then?

 

Can you please decide which objectives we have to complete and stop fiddling with the current event? First the lower list was in the game and now suddenly the upper list with completely different objectives. Since then, nothing has been tracked.
Log out, log in, restart the game, nothing helps.

 

Personally I don't have any issues with events like this, but couldn't we get some actually good decals?

Like seriously, who wants to put silly badges on their trains?

 

Or F1 24 with their monthly “roadmap” with different bugs that have either been fixed, awaiting patch, or resolved.

Despite the completion of certain tasks, they are not taken into account 2 have only started : All In A Month's Wor and October drive !

 

Having issues as well! Just completed 2 different timetables, till the screen with the graphs appear at the end but they were not taken into account for the "All in a month's Work".

I have managed to complete the challenges and unlock the reward. See screenshot below.
However, when I go to Livery Designer, I don't see this decal anywhere. I looked under Shapes, Images, Logos... Don't see it.
Could you please share some instructions, or point to wherever the Livery Designer manual is?
NOTE: I have to admit: the only time I've used the Livery Designer was to unlock the achievement for 500 layers, and even then I followed a guide. When the achievement popped, I promptly deleted the hideous livery that I had created.

 

Same with me. Only these 2 are tracking so far. I’ve done enough to unlock everything except the 5 scenarios. So unless they’ve fixed something in the last day since I played, it’s still broken for me. October Drive wasn’t working to start with, but seems to be tracking now but I only have 20kms and I’ve driven a lot more.

 

Let's hope DTG finally admits there is a problem with the tracking of tasks. It has been so since the beginning of mastery and now in TSW5 the problems are still here.
I like the concept but having to do each task 10 times before it's logged (if I'm lucky) made me give up.

It's nice that you want to always side with Dovetail and all, but we all paid for a premium product with features that have been broken and not address for at least three years. Can't even complete the final scenario on spirit of steam as it's virtually impossible (worst winter of all.) as for what was suggested, it was what someone had asked. I don't expect them to do it all, but when is it wrong or bad to suggest something to better the game experience. As for most mastery challenges, I've been able to get most complete, albeit the newest routes, Midland tier 2, and Neidertalbahn tier 2 to finally start tracking again. Had to creste multiple new driver profiles and sign out and back in dovetail live about 20 times. For the remainder of the above mentioned nothing works, they partially track 1 task and then freeze and nothing is fixing it. And I am sick of hearing the same excuse that dovetail doesnt give a hoot about them and they don't matter, so they're not wasting time to fix that they've given ever since they made those challenges. My answer to them, if it doesn't matter to you, them make them all complete and mastery unlocked for everyone now and in the future. I like seeing the extras, and I've paid for them and done those challenges multitudes of times. At almost 40 k miles driven and a driver profile lvl of over 830, I've paid my dues.

 

Any idea how you can show this off?

 

Having the same problem, Had all but Complete 5 scenarios, during the last 23 hours I did 5 scenarios only to return to check and find that I was missing Complete 5 Tutorials or Timetables 1 had dropped off and the 5 scenarios I have done did not appear. Went to fix the complete 5 tutorials or timetables by doing a timetable run. After that I checked and now I need 1 x Complete 5 Tutorials or Timetables. The Class 66 needs to be done and somehow I have lost the drive 120 Miles. So I have decided to giveup on the October Challenge. It appears that Dovetail in the rush to release TSW5 they did not get it properly bug checked by Beta testers. This is the last time I buy a pre release of a game and the Special Version at that.

 

It didn't count for me right away either. I simply logged out of mastery back to the main menu, and logged in again.

 

For some, Frankfurt Mastery Overlay can never be unlocked. Tier 1 suddenly empty and counting nothing. I had to mod the Overlay Definition blueprint to have it appear regardless of entitlement var set to TRUE (and it has a super low res thumbnail appearing twice).



The community is upset because you cannot even code that simple system correctly, and there's a fair amount of train simmers suffering from OCD, which shouldn't even matter. If you deliver a feature, deliver it properly or remove it from the game.

 

It still doesn't work properly. This really resembles a mockery. Or we're not good drivers when we can't complete the October challenge.

Because I have the same questions.
Mastery has been properly broken for years.
I have many routes with all scenarios completed. Where the mastery challenge of level one is still half way ‘complete two scenarios with train x’

sometimes it helps to do scenarios again. Most of the time it won’t register at all.

Just a ‘no’ is an answer too.

 

From my eyes this just seems like a ploy to try and get people to drive the sodding 66, so they have a reason to continue using the same DB/EWS version in every release, rather than looking into other licenses, or even better locos. They thought they had fooled everyone, but I am sure there will be much panic in DTG towers now that plan has failed!

 

The tests have been updated except for the scenarios and the 2 training sessions, I logged out from my Dovetail account and now I only have 2 scenarios left to do

 

I didn't need to log out from anything, but just wait for a couple of days for it to update. Previously only "5 Tutorials/Timetables" were counted for me, despite driving 66 around the big loop a couple of times in Training Center and driving some long distances in timetable, but I got today everything ticked except for the scenarios, which I wasn't doing until today, after I noticed the mastery progress finally updated on the DTG Live website. The scenarios are being counted correctly now already right after finishing them (currently 2/5 done today, probably the rest, if I find some shorter tomorrow, or in the following couple of days, if they are over 1 hour long).

 

Most of my challenges finally updated 5 days after I did them leaving me 4 scenarios Still to do. First 2 I tried didn’t track and didn’t even show up on the log book on Dovetail Live. Tried again yesterday and did all 4 scenarios and they tracked instantly. So I’m complete for this month. Though I’ll probably never use the decal. (I haven’t ever opened livery designer - don’t have the talent for it)

 

Mastery tracking stopped working for me. I knew it would happen, just like it did with the older games, just didn't think it would happen so quickly. Oh well.

 

I drove around the Training Center, it works and I got my first one. I see the decal. Can you put it on a train?

 

Oh, I see where it is. It says 12 dynamic lines. It shows eleven and one spinning. I didn't realize you could put those on trains. That's pretty cool.

 

My stats aren't tallying. Once again mastery is broken

 

Most of my stats reset a couple days ago, that is, every number except "Scenarios Completed" went back to zero. Since then, I wasn't able to advance any challenges except for the one requiring to complete 2 Tutorials.

I have completed the requirements for every challenge multiple times over and would like my stupid sticker.
