Can the train saftey features on the LIRR be switched off? I keep getting overspeed warning whilest driving even though I'm not actually speeding!
If you are getting an overspeed warning, then you ARE speeding. Look up the LIRR safety systems tutorial, it will teach you how to use the system.
The game says the limit is 60, I was doing just over 40 and the train gave an overspeed warning so I wasn't speeding...
Adhering to speed limits while using safety features is much more than just blindly following the hardcoded track speed limit. As already mentioned by others above, check the tutorials to learn more.
There is very little leeway on the LIRR safety systems to delay your braking. You need to be aware of both the track and upcoming signal speeds and I found it helps to run a bit slower than the maximum permitted speed too.
You have to follow acses/atc. If they tell you lower than line speed, you have to go the lower speed. The speed limits they give on the top hud only gives you line speed.
As we've said, watch the LIRR safety system tutorial. Track speed limit might be 60, but the train control system can limit you to lower speeds.
