For all you guys know, DTG could just say that whatever a 3rd party creates, DTG can use at their own choice. I would assume that's different for one 3rd party to use another's, but either way, a modern 150 would be different enough from rivet's 90's version that it would probably be a new model anyway.
I've lost count of the amount of times someone has had to remind people what does and doesn't run on this network. 175s, 170s, 158s and 197s have never run on the lines appearing in the game. The only options are 150s, 153s and Pacers. There's a remote chance 769s or 231s appear, but the former are gone now and the latter are only on these lines temporarily. Now please stop suggesting 175s. They never ran on this line and I feel my soul die every time they're mentioned because I miss them so much.
If memory from my ATW etc. Control days serves me correctly, there was a brief period when a 158 ran down to Rhymney and returned on a through working, maybe to Manchester. But generally, yes, simply too valuable as a long distance resource to use on purely local services.
You don't know that, in fact. It would completely plausible for the contract between Dovetail and Rivet to say that Dovetail can use Rivet's work without compensation.
Rivet’s WCL came with a reskin of DTG’s Class 37 so I’d say it’s entirely plausible that this could come with a reskin of Rivet’s 150.
If it’s just a reskin i shall not bother. The 150 has to be the worst attempt at a train I’ve ever seen.
As Matt seems to be following this thread, let’s hope if that is the plan a thorough rework of the 150/2 is being undertaken, even if the dirty washing can’t be done in public.
this is kinda what i'm thinking is the most likely scenario.. a reworked class 150 alongside a new class 153, it seems the most obvious option to me and one i'd definitely be happy with. i'd also be more than happy with a class 143 as well, but i do think the 150 and 153 are the one we'll end up seeing.. at least that's what i'm hoping for!
The class 150 is my favourite but I can't use it the way it is if it is on the Cardiff route I hope anyone but Rivet does it properly
Two more left last Thursday, I think there are still about half a dozen there. 150281 left there for Sims Newport last week, the first 150 to be a scrapped.
I suspect there'll be a Welsh Marches route quickly behind the Cardiff city ones. I think Wales' DMU routes will join the roster pretty quickly, as a change from the EMU heavy English lines.
The 150s since this will be TFW era, will they have digital PIS, instead of the Regional Railways one with the roller blind destinations and the rebuilt toilets that TFW are using now?
Any chance we'll get a tfw class 158 with this route as I do believe some operate to Cardiff central.
Never ran this route 158 ran from Maesteg to Cardiff Central then on to Gloucester or Cheltenham Spa so could be AI only
The 158 model in TSW has the wrong engine for the 158s TFW had. The two variants in TSW have Cummins NTA855-R1 whereas TFW had Perkins 2006-TWH. I was never able to get a ride on one with Perkins. I remember Northern had some with Perkins but after trying the same service every day to get one I ended up unable to catch it on the one day a Perkins unit actually showed up. The route they ran is 331s now and they don't seem to be allowed to give information on what runs which routes now. EMR only seem to put Cummins on the services to Liverpool (reliability?) so the chances of finding one again within Manchester boundaries is unlikely. That is why I can't tell how realistic/unrealistic the sounds on the 166 are which I have been called out on before after stating the 166 was a good model.
That's sad. It's the exact type of service i like. That long, lonesome train lost along the beautiful countryside. This hectic urban start and stop is for the birds. ;-) But to each their own. I'm glad Wales gets some love, even if it's just Cardiff Still remember traveling there and scratching my head seeing the really long alphabet soup signs ;-) Beautiful country though. Networks are a nice touch though. A lot of playability in the same general area.
Extremely unlikely. We've not even seen any photos, or information on the route, other than "it exists", so I'm guessing this might be a late spring route.
I saw these pictures on TikTok earlier, now I have no idea if these are real but are almost 100% fake, but I though I might aswell share them on here so here they are-
I suspect that one is more real than the other. But I think the going concensus is that 158s and 175s don't run on the routes in question
Well, I guess DVT comes with the 67, right? That would pave the way for a possible future Intercity 225... If that turns out to be true!
How are they getting new engine sounds for the 158? TFW have got the 197 to replace them so would probably have theirs mothballed.
The TFW 158’s are very much still active. The 197’s primarily displaced 175’s. In any case those images (which are more than likely fake) have no bearing on this route. A 158 would be a stretch, the 67+mk3/4 sets would be an utterly ridiculous development for it.
158 and 197 don’t run on this route. Trains that do run this route were 143/142/150/153 New trains are 231/756 and eventually 398
The 158s in TSW have different engines to those TFW have Weren't TFW required to replace the entire fleet as part of the operating agreement terms? I can never remember what runs where with TFW, I just know they don't run in to Manchester anymore along with any other 158s with that engine, only Cummins now.
Yeah TFW should be fully phasing into the new stuff (197/230/231/756/398) anytime now (realistically though it’ll be 2025). The only older stock left will be the 153 & 67/mk4 sets.
I highly doubt it at the moment, given we have at least 6 known routes upcoming, plus ATS and any from Rivet.
The other issue I have with this, is the poppy. The poppy is copyrighted by the RBL, and I highly doubt they have gone to them for permission. I suspect this is just a reskin that someones trying to sell off as a "leak".
I dunno... for some reason the MK4 DVT reminds me more of the MJW TFW MK4 Pack for TSC. Second photo looks legit.
Anyone recognise the station the MK4 DVT is in? Suppose that might help firm up TSC vs TSW but very difficult to tell as blurred
Neither of these trains are relevant to the route. As I've said previously, if it's present day the only trains we can see are 150s and 153s. At a stretch the 231s as well but they're only on the network temporarily and will soon be moved to mainline work.
I can debunk that 158. It's just a photo of an EMT 158 with a creator's club TfW livery. The triangular roof is the first giveaway, it's clearly Loughborough on MML. I know it's the MML 158 because the seats are red, TfW's 158s don't have red seats, but the 158 already in the game does.
Very much looking forward to this route! Wales has been needing some love for ages. Interesting route choice but I'm sure it'll be great fun all the same.
