I remember WSR being the first DLC out and I was so excited to get home from work and play the sh*t out of it! However, when it came to actually playing it, it was kind numbing! I get that it has to have realistic limits and all that but does anyone actually enjoy this route? I think I’ve played it the day I got it and once after that. Never actually completed a service!

Apart from the speed limitation (which is reality), it's good. I think the trick is to mix it up and not play it solidly or I could see why you may tire of it.

For me, there's something magic about driving on a single lane with low speed limit and actually enjoying the scenery. It's better without HUD just like everything in this game. Too bad that the game expects you to use it for so many things.

I love it, the scenery, the locomotives. Two of my favourite locomotives in the real world on one route in game!
The speed restriction does get boring when trying to run the class 08 as you pretty much never hit it, however in the 47 it requires good driving to stick to it at times.
After all this is a sim and realism is key.

It is the only DLC is have 100% of trophies on, purely because I have played it so much. As someone said above, not for hours in a row, but between other routes.
The class 08 services were not as enjoyable, but I love shunting around in the 08.
Can't wait for Tees Valley and the 08 shunting freight. Hopefully it has a form of 'free switching' like the American freight.

The WSR is very true to life also which is great.
I will not download the extra Locos for it however until we can use them on other routes, they certainly wouldn't get a decent use on the WSR in game.

I really enjoy the route when I'm in the mood for it. Running a late service with the Gas style lamps on at the stops in the snow is beautiful on WSR.

I enjoy the WSR. The addition of faster services helps. My only issue is, speaking from my experiences. The service mode is dominated by class 47s and 09s. Cant remember seeing a 33 or 52. I do own them by the way.

I really like WSR because it's such a relaxing route.

It's not a fast and challenging route, it's more a sit back and relax kinda route.

i enjoy doing this route and it does get boring at times.i would like to see dtg introducing the class 115 which wsr has and the teddy bear which they own.

today 27/07/ 2019 wsr started a shuttle service from bishops lydeard to taunton

    GWR Taunton dep 09.39* 10.28* 12.10* 15.37* 16.36*
    GWR Bishops Lydeard arr 09.56 10.45 12.26 15.54 16.53
    then change trains...
    WSR Bishops Lydeard dep 10.15 11.00 12.40 16.20
    WSR Minehead arr 11.35 12.20 14.00 18.00
    WSR Minehead dep 10.05 14.30 15.25
    WSR Bishops Lydeard arr 11.30 15.52 16.50
    then change trains...
    GWR Bishops Lydeard dep 10.03* 11.45* 12.53* 16.09* 17.11*
    GWR Taunton arr 10.22 12.05 13.10 16.26 17.28

i wonder if dtg will extend the line to accommodate the new shuttle service

nice photo. i was going to go on the wsr today again to try the shuttle service, but unfortunately other things in my life have taken preference for the time being. i might have to wait until next year now. i still think dtg should do the class 115 and the class 14 as it is part of the wsr. i have just been watching the duke of sutherland on the wsr webcams today and a west coast charter on there as well

Id like to see all the UK stock, minus the ntp 47, driveable on the WSR. Even the 66. Its brakes arent suitable for coaches, but it could head a convoy of locos?

The vans from NTP wouldn't look out of place either. Just needs a guards van to go with them and you're set for a few freight demonstration runs.

Yes they'd be great in sidings and in rakes behind the class 33.

I wish the class 33 want get a stand-alone Route from the 80s from British Railways. She have too much power to drive only 25 mph.

I love this Train but I don’t think they was on Northern Trans Pennine or was it 1983?

class 33 didnt run on NTP they only ran on the southern region.
i agree the freight wagons from NTP could run on wsr as they do have freight wagons in sidings at Minehead and williton sidings but i think there freight stock is all from GWR.

the HST could be run as a visiting train as it was in the vid. there is a scenario with the class 52 which does a visiting train scenario and the HST could be substituted with the class 52

It’s overpowering for only 25 mph

The beauty of WSR is that any of the current British locos and DMUs that are in TSW could in theory be run as visiting locos. Everyone is either current or has a preserved example. No repaint required.

    Now if only DTG...

Maybe when cab movement is fully in the game we will see the 150’s and 142’s.

In the early 80s didn't they used to do the Crewe-Shrewsbury route?

I have a vague recollection of us going to Crewe on our 7-day North West Rail Rover tickets just to ride 33's.

Might be totally wrong, it was a while ago. :)

Yes they did, up until 1986, I remember seeing them. They took over from class 25s, that were slowly being withdrawn, on the Cardiff to Crewe working. Sometimes working up to Bangor and Manchester. 37s and 47s eventually took over from them. Then (unfortunately) came the DMUs.

Indeed. That's what the school holidays were for. :)

I'm italian, and this is the scenery I choose when I want to feel some english taste. I love the landscape, the buildings (I like walking around the small stations) and of course the locomotives. It's so relaxing and immersive. Maybe one day I will go there for real ;)
