Really looking forward to this route ! Having about 100 miles of mainline to drive on, in a 80's setting, is perfect. Even more so, when you know it's going to be JT quality !

Hope so, but not see a square on picture. I'd guess it may be similar but use different letters to get around licensing. Probably easier on a container vs a loco.

The Class 87 mentioned here is the same selled with the WCML line north for TSC a lot of year ago?
I love that one so this is a good point for buying this add-on

Got you now, yes, that would be the ideal - 101s in the core timetable for Blackpool & Ormskirk services that are subbed by 142s if you have BPO. Subbing should work since they’re both 2 cars, but I’m not an expert.

I think it’s artistic license & not the real thing. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think that livery is correct, notice the diamond shaped stripe rather than a straight edge. Also it doesn’t seem to say Freightliner.

I hope that it's nothing serious, and here is to a speedy recover after the op so you can enjoy the release of the route.

That’s what a straight line looks like on the corrugated side of a container when looked at from that angle. Looked at directly from the side it would be a straight line. The corrugations would also affect how the writing looks at that angle so hard to tell what it says.

Most people seem to be giving JT a pass on the increased price for this DLC, even though it's a fairly standard route with the usual one new loco. They seem to be impressed with the length, but it really depends on the quality of the scenery and assets, as well as the mix of gameplay.

ECML is almost as long but rather tedious and repetitive in my opinion and we'll have to wait and see if this route is better or not.

I don't believe, on the surface, that the elements of this route justify pushing the price point towards $50. If this is a precursor to price increases for future routes from DTG and partners, I and others will be resistant to that.

It seems that with the increased prices for TSW5 and now this price increase for WCMLN, DTG is trying to push a general price increase for its products without any improvements that matter, MBTA notwithstanding.

Have we become so used to short commuter routes and simple trains to occupy them along with poor quality and deficient timetables that, when something a little longer comes along with a perception of higher than usual quality, we gladly accept a higher price.

Not this consumer. I'll be shopping sales only from this point.

Well we don't know what the pricing will be and who says dtg is telling everyone to price things higher. I'm sure it was a decision by jt to increase it for the dev time they put into the project. It's a really long route for a 3rd party. It's highly detailed. Reference material may not be very easily obtained. It also provides funding for their loco dlc in a way. Brand new train and coaches. Other trains have either been reworked and/or more content added. It's expensive for sure but after you account for all the costs, jt get very little at the end for the effort they put in. Remember train sim is niche so it's not like call of duty where they sell trillions of copies and still make a massive profit at the end

Isn’t the pricing there? £32.99/€39.99/$44.99 or do you mean future route pricing?

If this is the next step up from Blackpool Branches that it’s coming across as, I'd say it's anything but "fairly standard"!

But far more likely is that the 'standard' price for a route has gone up c.10% because of the last few years' inflation affecting all costs. Unrealistic to expect prices to stay the same forever.

Thank you to the people who have left kind messages about my operation. I only mentioned it because it’s the same day of release of the route. Whilst it is quite a big procedure (Aortic Valve replacement) it has an extremely high success rate and hopefully life will be back to normal after a few weeks. I expect to be home after about 5 days so I’ll have plenty of time to explore this route :)

Yeahh indeed it depends really on the route. Frankfurt-Fulda amazing but WCML South was bit mixed...

Currently Canadian prices on Xbox are lower than US for DLC. Routes that are 39.99USD come in at 36.99CAD. So it will probably be less.

This look amazing! Do we know if the 87 will layer into any other DLCs as well? Would love to use this on other routes along the WCML!

The Class 87 is also available on TSC yes, but this is a brand new model made for TSW with all the new bells and whistles.

Firstly, I'm glad they put me out of my misery for a release date on this, plus 6 hours of gameplay on 08s sounds like exactly the kind of thing I'm going to enjoy.

I think that £32.99 for a 100 mile an hour route is perfectly reasonable, considering the quality of the route, and the love and dedication put in to building this, and if it is to the same very high standard that the Blackpool Branches route was, then its not going to disappoint. I certainly will be buying this.

Well, the speed of the train is not one of the criteria I'd use, but I agree that, if the quality of the route matches Blackpool, it would certainly be worth having.
I just don't think that there's any justification for raising prices at this time on a standard route with one new train.
£32.99 doesn't sound like a lot, but the way DTG uses the exchange rate mechanism, it pushes us here in the US towards the $50 mark, a red line for me at least.

No, it isn't. This is set in the 80s and Freightliner was a British Rail operated company at the time. The privately-operated company we know today did not exist until 1995.

As someone has said it will be added in on AI services around Preston on the Blackpool Branches route, but JT said this won't be immediate, we'll have to wait a little bit.

That's your choice, but the WCML north is a different beast from the ECML, full of gradients, speed limits depending what you're driving and hauling, the 87 isn't a notch 5 and go sort of locomotive either. The 47 is modified from Blackpool Branches as some of them will have the snow plough. The 101 DMU is a new modified version from the earlier releases.

The only way the two routes are connected is that they have Mainline in their names.

Happy to pay more for a Just Trains production as we know that it will be a quality product made with love, passion and accuracy.

Thank god JTs is doing this route and not Rivet.

Best wishes junior hornet, l hope your op goes well and you are able to play this route during your recovery.

From the Transport Act of 1968 to be exact, technically it is the same company as the Freightliner company we all know and love today and I believe the oldest surviving UK mainline operating business?

One of the few things the politicians of the day took out of the Beeching report that wasn't cost saving

Yes, but they didn't use the familiar green and yellow livery (or the new orange G&W):[IMG]
In fact, it's an interesting question whether that livery is owned by G&W or by MoT. "Freightliner" as a government-owned limited company was ended in 1978 and rolled into Railfreight, existing thereafter as merely a brand name for BR intermodal trains

Bloody hell, I am late to this party!
They say things come in threes (or were that just buses) and, well this week has delivered on that. Two great football results and, more importantly for this thread, a release date for JT's route. What a week. I have already put my thoughts in the unofficial threads and, unsurprisingly, I am really looking forward to the 21st of November now, so lets crack on! Pricewise, I am more than happy to pay an extra 3 quid as I know JT will deliver and make it worth every penny, though I don't want DTG/other developers to think a 'standard' route can be increased to this much just because it's pushing on 100 miles. The mileage in this route adds to the gameplay, but there are also extra additions, such as the detail in the 87, various liveries for stock (along with the stock itself) and, of course, the great attention to detail. If all of these boxes are ticked then I would happily pay the extra bit for a route from any other developer.

This were just meant to be a short, couple of sentence affair, but I seem to have got very involved in the whole thing, so I'll leave it there!

I would imagine it’s too late in the development process to do this now, but I may as well ask. Is there any chance of the Eastfield 47s coming with mini snow ploughs. I just love how they look on the 47s IMG_7189.jpeg

It was mentioned somewhere that some of the ScotRail 47s will have snowploughs fitted

As mentioned above they are making Eastfield duffs with ploughs and i believe i saw the intercity duffs will also have ploughs.

The 47's that had snow ploughs in 1986 and are featured in the route will have snowploughs, so probably some Eastfield's as well

I believe in the early 70’s (so the SIAM Carlisle 1973 game tells me) maybe later, it was not unusual to see freight working into Carlisle off the Annan Line or indeed the S&C with Toton 20’s. Probably not in the numbers to justify a layer on the route and the other caveat IIRC is that the Class 20 pack is only in Railfreight livery, not BR Blue.

I'd like them to have a go at Preston to Crewe with some branches featured based on Wigan Springs Branch and Warrington Arpley which would give 20s a serious amount of work. Bickershaw, Parkside Collierys and the Low Level line to Fiddlers Ferry Power Station. Wouldn't be as long as Preston to Carlisle but would give a huge amount of playability and the rolling stock stable is getting there now to fill it up.

You can't just compare this price with a few years ago. There's also inflation you know.

I agree entirely, another one to think about is that you don't actually HAVE to buy the route on day 1, you can wait, even if you want to put £1 a week away for it. Or wishlist it on steam and they will send you an email when its reduced, you also get the advantage of seeing comments from other people so you know whether its any good or not. I've had the various TSW products from day one so I don't have the problem of having to buy all the extras to get all the service layers but I get that as a new buy in that could be pricey, I so far haven't bought TSW5, I've just got the free upgrade and I wanted the Blackpool route and also want this one now.

Clicking the bracket on the back coach of your train on that route usually brings up an option for "Tail Lamp Auto" or similar so you can add or remove, certainly on the shunting movements at Preston it occasionally sticks a tail lamp on the end of your shunt move whether you want one or not.
Tail lamps are hardly a deal breaker though surely? You don't spend that much time looking at the back of the train, or I don't anyway.

Is there a option for placing tail lamp on PBO coaches ? I didnt see it though

For me is a big deal , otherwise I need to re-download LPC for fully functionable mk1 coaches
(and I cant enjoy 87 since she only apply air brake)
