I’m seeing quite a few pictures on Facebook on a group I follow of 56’s at Healey Mills. Clearly they were a widely used loco in that area. I can’t help but wonder why they weren’t part of the heavy freight pack on NTP.

The 56 has been requested numerous times in the Suggestions forum as it would fit in very well on Tees Valley too. However DTG have shown no sign of interest in this iconic freight loco and seems the only train building talent they now have left is limited to doing modern EMU’s with a simple power curve.
If I remember correctly they ran Merry Go Round (coal) trains from the Yorkshire coal fields to Fiddlers Ferry Power Station near Warrington. This traffic used to go over the Woodhead route, hauled by Class 76's to Guide Bridge. When Woodhead closed they were diverted via Diggle and hauled by a Class 56.
Honestly do think that Northern Transpennie needs more freight loco's. It's just silly getting all of the 66's getting re used
You don’t see 66’s on NTP, unless the player puts them in with free roam or Scenario Editor. The route is set in the early eighties, well before the “GM” invasion of the UK!
If we get a class 56, it's more likely to appear on TVL than NTP, seeing as they mainly worked on heavy steel and coal trains. Look out for a TVL remaster and new class 56 loco DLC at some point in the future.
I really hope so. When you compare the amount of new passenger locos to freight it just doesn’t come close.
so many old diesels... sure some may be out of place but even if it was just a dlc that layers into the old routes like NTP or TVL id buy it. Class 56. Hell even the 225 (they were called that weren't they?) express trains similar to Class 43 HST's
