Now you're talking! Could do the local Redditch-Brum DMUs too. Then there's freight with 20s, 25s, 37s, 45s, 47s all regular, at least at the Brum end on and off the Camp Hill line. Occasional 40s too. All (approx.) in game (except 25)
Ah fair enough. Honestly JT should do the entire WCML in parts. I’d love to see the Carlisle - Glasgow section. A beautiful part too…. Until you get to Glasgow xD. I’d really love to see them make the Scottish ECML too as they did a good job with that on TSC. That’s probably going to be down to Rivet most likely….
I would like to see North Wales coast circa 86 or maybe early 80's. The NTP stock would fit right in although you'd want some mark 1's ideally. A 25 would be very suitable too.
Been thinking about Carlisle - Newcastle... I'd love to see what they could do with Newcastle, Gateshead depot, Tyne Yard etc... trouble is that line was mostly DMUs IIRC - I certainly don't remember seeing any interesting freight on my trips across to Newcastle anyhow. I guess 1986ish isn't that interesting a time for rolling stock either - at the start of the 80s you'd have 03s at Newcastle, the freight traffic at Dunston staithes, Deltics and 46s lurking on GD etc. Still think it'd be a fun route to drive, but the most interesting bits would be both ends rather than the route itself
Going back to 1979 on SimSig Carlisle I'm seeing a fair bit of freight to and from the Tyne Valley so definitely the earlier the better.
The original south Devon mainline route they did in TSC, just set in the 1980s would be a good one to add. beautiful scenery around the dawlish area, going along newton abbot More points if they make the route all the way to Taunton or Highbridge And Burnham like they did in TSC.
Preston to Birmingham is 95 miles. So doable as they're presently doing 100 miles. Then after this Birmingham to Bristol. Give us a very nice section of WCML plus a nice cross country route after this. Locos / Loco DLCs to include to some slam door EMUs, DMUs and give us a Class 50 for Birmingham - Bristol services too.
With its hills and fast winding curves, this route is just a great experience. APT arrived in one piece.
It's a bugger how we can't see the exact replica of chaos that simsig had on WCMLOS - but I know for sure it will be bustling!
I was surprised there would even be regular freight towards Barrow - and then the daily trains both to Longtown and Eastriggs would catch me off guard
""-Cumbrian Coast line: Carlisle - Barrow (+maybe Lancaster)"" Would love this line as I live at one of the towns along this route. Although... its rather linear and has a lack of scenery; scenery being trees...trees...trees... from Carlisle to around Maryport. In where you're accompanied by the coast, the beach, the sea till around Seascale where it returns to trees, trees and more trees till the stop at Barrow-in-Furness. Rolling stock would be Class 156 in Northern with the odd Nuclear waste move using Class 68's double headed, which I believe run to Sellafield
I would like to see JT give a new life to the Great Western, as he did in TSC. Paddington-Bristol with a branch to Oxford.
If done by JT would continue with the BR Classic theme IMHO. So we might (finally) get a Class 108 DMU with Class 40’s predominantly on the freight, if we didn’t also get a Class 25. The fly in the ointment for this route might indeed be the nuclear industry at Sellafield. Neither they or anyone in authority are likely to want the site or their rail operations depicted in a simulation. There have been numerous issues over the years with the “Green welly” brigade trying to stage protests at the transport of nuclear waste so it’s something that tends to be kept very low key and might even be subject to the Official Secrets Act.
Albeit taking away the realism so to speak.... the Nuclear site / building could just be a bunch of generic factory buildings put together to avoid potential issues being lit up, just to "simulate" a nuclear factory. Me personally I wouldnt mind if this be the case.
ECML North - Newcastle to Edinburgh - Set in the 1988 Included: Class 43 HST: Intercity (Valenta) BR Class 47 (Features Previous Liveries from BPO, and Preston Carlisle) Layers: Classes 37, 40, 45, 08, 31 etc Potental Loco DLCs: BR Class 89, (if it was around during that period ofc) Route Length is 95 Miles
I do think there’s an argument that Newcastle to Edinburgh is the most interesting part of the ECML. It’s attractive and has constant changes of line speed, as well as some significant gradients. It’s more than 95 miles though. More like 120 miles, from memory.
Indeed that’s the problem with that section and doing just Newcastle to Berwick or Berwick to Edinburgh isn’t really going to cut muster. That said, outside the three main populated areas scenery is largely fields or rolling hills so the route builder isn’t going to have too much on their plate as regards large urban areas.
JT seems to be doing great with what they're focused on. 80s stuff in the Northwest, centered around Preston. I can definitely see them using that familiarity and built up knowledge to simply keep expanding a hub from there and then a network in the same time period with compatible rolling stock. It makes sense in several ways to just continue doing that as long as it keeps selling well. IF that's their plan, then that would mean next they'd likely do Manchester. Again, it's just logical since it starts from Preston and would link to the other routes. From there, it depends on how DTG and the playerbase feel about "route hopping" on different eras. If people don't mind the "jump" in time to "modern" routes, then it's low hanging fruit to do Manchester to Birmingham or Carlisle to Glasgow. Not sure why they would start doing southern or MU stuff that's entirely outside their wheelhouse and would invalidate their accumulated assets, stock and knowledge of the current area they are in. That seems.... weird. But, it's possible if for example someone gets bored or they want to expand to two teams. Still, they have found something they are good at and people are rewarding them to make so....why not just keep going with it? Have other companies focus on the other stuff. I get it when you have a good company you want to give them all the business, but a lot of it comes across as what you want...not what's good for them. I'm more than happy with their work thus far and would love a well done 80s era network in the Northwest. If we get to the point that the whole area is done....then yes they can move onto other areas (sticking to the same theme for compatibility) Because after they hit Glasgow then it's logically down the WCML to Birmingham, etc. But that will be several years down the line.
If I had one choice, I would definitely pick Riviera Line. It´s one of my favourites on TSC. To Glasgow or Crewe would also be welcome though.
I'd like a nice chunk of mid-1980's 3rd Rail Routes out of Charing Cross, London Bridge and Cannon Street please. (Maybe even Holborn Viaduct!)
https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...-aldgate-uxbridge-amersham.86514/#post-922034 This is my suggestion for Just Trains' Metropolitan Line Remaster for TSW from TSC I absolutely love this route and the size is very much doable by JT & DTG's standards' considering we have TFL licensing it would really kick off this phenomenal trip. If anyone has played the TSC version of the metropolitan line please leave your feedback too! But I'm praying for this kind of release!
I mentioned elsewhere that this line might make more sense if done back in 1986, when there was more action at Workington steel works and even still a wee bit in Whitehaven, to the Preston Street Good Yards (I remember being stood on Coach Road with my mam, watching a load of chemical trucks slowly trundle across the level crossing) as well as coal and other nuclear traffic to Sellafield. Some use for the oil trucks at Dalston, too. That said, my own choice would be Preston-Manchester via both Bolton and Wigan with Victoria and maybe Deansgate as the end points. Not sure if that fits in with how trains run back then, that said!
I would love to see something around the Devon/Cornwall end of the Western Region during BR days. Dawlish and the sea wall and some of the surrounding scenery and gradients would be superb as would the Class 50 and Valenta HST. Whatever JT do next, I am certain that it will yet again show what can be achieved with real passion and effort applied.
This route would be good but I would rather around 1992-1996 (end of intercity) because the 225 was in use on that route by then. Not sure when the 47 was phased out on the route, but could potentially mean a slightly adapted 43, 47 and then a new loco - a 91.
If JT were to do anything East Coast, Deltics would be essential for me. Ideally the Deltic/HST transition era. I’d love a steam/deltic transition but steam would need to be fixed to make it work.
I’m just saying, if JT will do a route with the HST in BR era period, I hope it’ll be with the Valenta engine.
Passenger services leaving Newcastle Central still used the Scotswood branch to access the Tyne Valley line at that time, before the closure of the Scotswood bridge in ‘82, so an interesting network at least at the Newcastle end. The line had, and also still has to some degree, much classic infrastructure with many ornate NER signal boxes and semaphore signals remaining.
Set it early enough and they could throw in the Alston Branch too. There’s your “memorial/icon”, trains to the highest market town in England.
Well, you might have an outside chance with that suggestion. If the Loco DLC is indeed a Class 86, they’ll only need the blunt end trailer van things to round off the InterCity fleet - assuming it’s a similar era? Norwich to Ipswich, plus some of the branches would be a JT sized chunk of a route wouldn’t it?
I assume you mean the Mk2 DBSO? https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6f/Norwich_(16489650979).jpg
I’m busy with my own route from Newcastle which has just reached as far west as Hexham and includes Heaton Depot, Tyne Yard and part of the about to be reopened Northumberland Line. It’s a bit sparse on scenery and will never be up to the standard of an official route so I’m also hoping Carlisle to Newcastle might appeal to JT.
If JT are sticking to the 1980s WCML, I hope they do either Preston - Crewe/Stafford (approx 55/78 miles) or even Carlisle to Glasgow (approx 95 miles) however I would absolutely love to see them give us a 1980s Slamdoor Route like possibly Portsmouth Harbour to Waterloo (approx 77 miles) which could finally give us the BR Class 50 and some proper Slamdoor Electrics or even a Thumper
looks like it yes. I have checked and they were put into service from 1979 meaning it is possible to see them on a 1980s route however they weren't in use on the WCML as they were initially designed to run the push-pull services between Glasgow and Edinburgh with Class 47s before being sent down south with the 86s to work London Liverpool St to Norwich services after the 158 was introduced on the Glasgow - Edinburgh corridor in the late 80s
One of the JT devs said he does find Bristol in this time period interesting, so there is some slight hope there
Would love if they did a route from Australia (Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney) but that is extremely unlikely more likely and what i would also like to see is the woodhead route https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/woodhead-line-1960s.79612/
I know that silly man, it was just a turn of phrase meaning they have all the research and data already.
