I noticed after going back to freeroam mode after doing a small scenario and let the game continue to work. I noticed once you left the locomotive and let the AI take over, you still get action points as the AI drives the train, opens the doors etc. But you are walking around the platform and watching the birds fly
By "going back to free-roam mode", do you mean pressing the E key to continue? Also, did you start out in free roam?
I guess he means driving a service, then letting the AI take over that train and simply walking around, exploring and stuff. By doing so the AI is still collecting points for you without you actually driving the train.
