I've never played any bus or coach sims before but Fernbus looks like something I'd probably really enjoy, so I've been considering for quite some time to get this maybe - I'm on Series X for context. I've watched a couple reviews of the game but wanted some opinions from fellow TSW players who play Fernbus regularly.
It's not too bad, but it's also not great. It's kinda mid but pretty fun if you've got some spare time and don't know what to do except drive around a bit.
It's a true TML title. Lots of ideas, but pretty basic execution. If you can get it on sale it is certainly worth it.
Deep sale only. Very clunky interface and the driving experience nowhere near as smooth as the SCS truck games. Bit of a performance hog too.
It doesn't have the quality Euro Truck Simulator 2 has, but if you really want buses, I guess Fernbus is half decent. Certainly more accessible than OMSI2.
Yes at least I can use my joypad with Fernbus, unlike OMSI2 where I’m reduced to driving and steering with the mouse. Isn’t there a tour bus sim from the same people? Keep meaning to check it out but like most TML games very mixed reviews on Steam.
It’s a decent game, but not worth full price in my opinion. I got a key off Instant Gaming for around €10 and that was worth it. A few of the key sites have it. Otherwise wait for a Steam sale. It’s fun but it gets boring quickly, but I do go back to it now and then.
TML Studios is the name of the developer, who usually publish through Aerosoft. Not got a clue what TML stands for though…
If you can get on PC, then I’d just get ETS2 with a coach & passenger mod. You miss out on some of the more bus sim related features like ticket checking & bus stations etc, but the core driving experience is 100x better. OMSI2 is unbeatable as far as bus sims go, but it’s more urban transit based & as above is pretty difficult for new users to get to grips with (it’s a very, very manual setup game, simple things like changing FOV’s require going into game files & changing config files for vehicles). Once you get it setup how you like though it’s far above other bus sims, even with outdated, well everything really. Overall I wouldn’t say don’t bother with Fernbus, if you can get it dirt cheap on a sale & really want to drive coaches, then it’s fine for that, it’s just not a knock your socks off experience. As far as console experiences go, I’d say Bus Sim 21 is probably the most polished gameplay, but overall you’re just picking the least terrible from a pile of under developed titles.
Imo. Yes. Best bus simulator on console at the moment. Quite realistic and a fun play if you don't mind a long (long ISH) drive. Full map end to end takes 6 Hours irl time (apparently) to drive so it's quite good. Definitely recommend. Though getting a dlc with it is best. Ethier Hanvool or VDL is what I'd recommend but up to you.
I got Tourist Bus Simulator in the last winter sale. With Tourist Bus Simulator you get to drive along narrower roads with more bends so you really get the feeling you're driving a large vehicle where as on Fernbus you spend long periods on the Motorway.
