Why I chose this route? I chose this route because.. it’s different. Although I very much doubt they’ll do the full route to Norwich, and will mostly likely end at Ipswich, it’s a route based on the Easten side of the UK. The class 745 is an entire new loco that would be a good start to bring an EXPERT loco to the UK. This will also be the longest route in TSW with a route length of 97 miles! How Many Stations Are There In Total? There are 16 stations in total. The major stations on this route are: Liverpool Lime Street, Stratford, Chelmsford, Ipswich and Norwich. You will not be stopping at all 16 stations, the stations you will be stopping will be: Stratford Colchester Manningtree Ipswich Stowmarket Diss Norwich What timeframe will this route be set in? 2020! Since currently most of the 745 services go to Stanstead Airport, on their first runs, they went to Norwich! Possibilities of Loco DLC’s on this route? We could see a few: BR Class 720 Greater Anglia (London Liverpool Street - Norwich) BR Class 379 Greater Anglia (London Liverpool Street - Norwich) although these we replaced by the 745’s in 2020. Any layers on this route? Currently, no.. but there could be some AI services at Norwich, featuring the BR 158 East Midlands Trains! Any Depots? Yes: Norwich Crown Point, Clacton-on-Sea Ilford Colchester How many trains per hour (tph)? 2 tph in both directions.
Presuming we get the London end, we could have something like this: "The fast lines are closed due to engineering works. All trains are routed via the slow lines. Can you keep to time and avoid a SPAD?"
See that’s a good idea but it was kinda similar to another scenario that i made for another suggestion haha. I’ll take this and credit you for it though!
Would welcome this route, partly because in and of itself it'd be a great route, bit also because it would give us Stratford station. We need a busy Stratford for all the routes that could start from or run through there!
Also just saying too, no way DTG would make a route and have less than half the stations have services on them so I would think that a class 720 would come with the route aswell as you’re having much less than half the timetable out of Liverpool Street and no terminating trains at Colchester or Ipswich!
Yeah but to be fair, similarly to Barking, Manchester Piccadilly and Birmingham New Street, that station would be pretty much be a ghost town.. As opark kindly said, maybe the 720 should be included in the route, at least there would be some sort of traffic alone the GEML!
Perhaps a c2c route including the Aventra would release preceding this one, allowing it to layer into the timetable
100% agree. I think a c2c route should definitely be in TSW, pretty sure it’s a very popular route that’s been suggested multiple times, including myself
Agree completely about getting c2c into TSW, but let's not derail a GEML thread too much. Suffice it to say that this route needs a 720 to populate the Liverpool Street to Shenfield stretch, or if push comes to shove an unbranded 710 (just squint at it and pretend it's the right carriages and length!).
Would need its physics redone though. Class 710 has a max speed of 75mph, and the class 720 has a max of 100mph I assume, so you wouldn’t be able to keep to the timetable if you did have to use a 710.
Well Greater Anglia class 720s go to Colchester, so I’d assume 100mph maximum speed. However, you say Liverpool Street to Shenfield, so those would be 345s which I’d assume the line speed wouldn’t exceed 75mph?
Going with the period set by the OP wouldn't the 321s be very dominant over this stretch compared to the 720s?
