With preston to carlisle being announced as delayed by a few days, i’d like to raise a few points It is good that dtg are finally acknowledging when a route isn’t up to par for the scheduled release date. this is likely due to the backlash from wcml being released in a pretty poor state It is making a difference, mbta commuter which released today seems to have had a good reception and preston carlisle looks set to be the best tsw route to date However, tsw5 has had 2 route dates revealed now, both having had their release dates pushed back close to the original launch date. What cannot happen is a cycle starting of delaying releases a few weeks or days before it’s meant to come out. it’ll become repetitive and people could start losing interest Just my two cents, i understand why people would agree and disagree, let me know your thoughts below
I would much rather they delay it then release it when it is not ready. I think WCCL were the final nail in the coffin, considering it is already being remastered.
Why would anyone lose interest if an add-on was delayed by a week, six months maybe but a week? I have enough to play with whilst waiting an extra week for a new release. I can only see positives from them delaying a product.
My personal opinion is that the delay is more to do with the core game than what JT have produced. They are still trying to eradicate the gremlins and instability that TSW5 has over its predecessor. Not sure what a few more days is going to do, but the talk of large patches in the next few weeks may align with this.
I believe this approach may happen in the short term with add ons in the 0 - 3 month mark. However, I welcome it. TSW5s early days have been tarnished with many issues. I'd rather DTG be honest like this and say "look we want this as polished as it possibly can be". It's also positive, as I get the impression this has been led by feedback about quality control going forward. So hats off to them there. I'd rather a more polished product that's been given some extra TLC.
no it was the 21st at least I think it was unless it was the 26th and got push forward to now be pushed backwards again i just know it was the 21st
Good to see a cautious approach by JT/DTG. A few days or even a few weeks is nothing. Football Manager 2025 got delayed by two weeks, then suddenly 5 months and has really messed-up their income and reputation. 5 days, I can live with that. Cities Skylines 2 was a great example of launching a totally unready game and it still has a lot of bugs and performance issues that make it unplayable on my PC year after release.
Just to add in, the choice to hold back a release of any new add-on can have implications to other releases down the line, it's a fine balance and not a decision that we can make without careful consideration. That being said, our focus has always been to deliver the best experience we can, and we've come to learn that often an extra week of polish when finalising the route can have a big impact at reducing potential issues and help make that first impression stand strong. Appreciate the feedback folks!
