What Sort Of These Do You Think We’ll See In December?

The November roadmap mentions a lot of things happening throughout December, some of which include

“all new gameplay add-ons”

“all new TSW add-on reveals, additional news on announced projects and updates from a huge range of our third-party development teams!”,

“Similar style to take a ticket”

“A special surprise surprise that we've been waiting to tell you about for quite some time!“

the one I’m most interested in is the last one, what sort of things could we expect from this “special surprise” that’s they’ve been “waiting to tell us” for a long times.

Use this thread to gather some ideas of what we could expect from December and what this “special surprise” we’re going to be getting on the 20th of December!

 

Given the list of routes that the all-new gameplay add-ons are meant for, I reckon it'll be another version of these:

Sorry, my brain went there when I first read that on the article.

 

Given it's the 200th Anniversary of the Stockton to Darlington Railway next year, perhaps something to do with that (Tees Valley Remaster or something with Route Hopping capability, perhaps in the same era)? Unless they save something like that for the likely release of TSW6, which would be closer to the actual anniversary.

 

Now imagine the gameplay pack for Frankfurt is the S-Bahn tunnel :0

 

Holiday Express 2!

 

I still think it’s going to be TSW on IPhone App Store…. Or maybe it is a Holiday Express 2 like Parder mentioned ^. To save disappointment I just wouldn’t get too excited about it… at least not yet.

As I've mentioned in another thread, I think one or two of the reveals may be Glossop and BCC getting the 350s/390s layered onto them finally.

 

Im expecting nothing but recycled content. Maybe new Liveries and some Timetable additions. Im happy to be proven wrong tho.

 

Maybe a class 805? How much would they have to change from the class 801 on ECML?

 

ECML Doncaster to Darlington route extension for 200 year anniversary. Allows you to continue on the train past Doncaster by switching DLC

 

That would be both too long and not a suitable end point.

I've been hoping a native MacOS version, but my thought initially was "it's coming to iOS isn't it" ... or the big announcement is they've fixed steam locos.

A reversal of the decision to abandon steam....well probably only likely in some hallucination filled dream.

 

The special surprise was "Merry Christmas to everyone!".

All I want for Christmas is our steam content being fixed! As wishful thinking as it is...

Unfortunately I don't think we'll be finding lumps of coal at the bottom of our stockings though (it was there I had to )

 

That would be the one sensible thing they could do, along with a new steam route - dare I suggest Somerset and Dorset or part there of.

 

The “big surprise” on 20th December is that there will be an extra mastery challenge for anyone who owns “Holiday Express” and anyone completing it before the 12th night will get a special Elf badge.

 

It'll be a new game written and produced by Matt, called Pink Simulator

 

I haven't been able to find a concrete and explicit statement that they've abandoned steam. I will keep asking for it until DTG or a 3rd part take notice and I think there are plenty of others who will too.

There were several replies in there saying there are no plans to work on or fix current content but we've not been given a reason why. Plus whenever we ask about it they bury their head in the sand and won't even talk about the reasons for it. Myself and many others have asked about it on roadmap streams just to get the "There are no plans but third parties are interested".

The Stockton to Darlington railway route as a surprise at the end would be awesome, and say at a reasonable price say twenty euros , pounds as this year's Christmas treat

 

We already have it. That's what the Tees Valley route is.

 

Extend WCMLS to Rugby minimum.

 

Would be great for an extra 2 stops on AWC Services, and some terminating services at Northampton and Rugby!

 

And a very good route it is too

 

However also considering they are redoing the timetable already for the current route and having to redo the timetable again makes this very unlikely to ever happen
