    Hi everyone!

Can someone help me understand which Freight DLCs add exactly what type of layers to the new MBTA expansion? I already used to play Boston Sprinter, and I was on the fence about getting Sand Patch Grade for that one in the past. The freight areas there look really empty but I just didn't see the added value to get it just to fill up the scenery.

Is this going to be the same for the MBTA Commuter? Does Sand Patch Grade just add some trains into the freightyards or is there other value add? I do personally like the freight expansions, the Cajon Pass challenge was nice with keeping your train at a speed limit on big grades. But I understand there's also others than Sand Patch Grade that could add into the Boston routes sceneries.

Would love to hear your opinions about this!

I think you have to have almost all the freight dlcs and it only adds yard work and switching duties and maybe a few trips half way down the line

Sand Patch will give you locomotives and freight cars to do mainline drives and yard shunting in Westboro, Framingham and Worcester. The only thing the other freight DLCs will add is more rolling stock variation in consists. So SPG is your main priority when it comes to DLC. Everything else is up to if you want more varied consists.

Horseshoe curve adds Low Gondolas, TOFC cars and there NS box cars, grain cars and coal cars.
BNSF SD70Ace adds the other TOFC cars and the 4 different colors in the Centerbeam cars.
Sherman hill adds there reefers, tall box cars and all there branded freight cars to the routes. Same with Cajon Pass but Cajon adds there Well-Cars for the intermodal yard in Worcester.

I’m playing on Xbox series s and I have SPG installed yet I don’t have any layers. Is there something wrong. The article said that Xbox series s would have Layers. Furthermore, I have the Acela and ACS-64 installed and those are working just fine

Is there something I am missing?

I can’t upload the screen shot, but on the most recent article it says “we've amended the timetable to provide a suitable experience for these players (Xbox One and PlayStation 4).”

it says nothing about series s.

You’d have to check the DTG posts for clarification but I’m pretty sure you need multiple DLC’s to enable certain freight layers on this route. I imagine the layer menu in game will show you what layers you can activate & which DLC you’re missing if you can’t.

If the layers work on Series S as DTG says they should, then according to their article you need all of SPG, HSC, CJP, and the SD70 to have the freight layers active. I might even be missing one. If you don't have everything installed, then you will get nothing. That is how I read it. However, even if you do have everything, it is not necessarily guaranteed that it will still work for Series S. Unfortunately, Series S is like a blind spot for DTG. I don't own the route so I can't help more, but perhaps someone else can confirm if the layers on Series S work as we were led to believe.

It’s fine, but I’m still wondering what’s wrong
i’ll check again, but I’m pretty sure I saw a layer that only said Sand Patchgrade.
