DON'T pay full price for this trash like I did on XBOX. Wait for at least 50% discount or you will regret it.
It's ok but not as good as their Bernina. I can't really see 6 months work in there when a lot of faults still remain. I agree the 170 seems overly quiet in the cab without the windows open. Next weeks JT release will blow this out of the water.
It's always been like that. Now though I notice more of what I call the flanger effect (guitarists/musicians may know about a flanger). I also got 'one under' at North Queensferry last night and another on the track there beyond my stopping point. I've not had any suicides on this route before so that's not a good step.
Don’t know for XBox as Microsoft is quite allergic to sales for TSW but on the PlayStation the route’s currently 40% off.
Yes rivet do like seeing their NPC's as kamikaze pilots! A bit concerning for any real driver who plays this game actually.
Well they were working on WCML apparently at the same time.... Leven was just a tiny part of what the company is working on. Not saying it doesn't have issues, but hyperbole makes your criticisms less credible.
Rivets work on the WCML has left with with huge egg on their face too... The route is being completely upgraded as a consequence. Both were appalling bad.
It isn’t worth watching. It was just messing around with photo mode over the forth rail bridge and some MBTA photography too…. https://www.youtube.com/live/9cfXU4RtxBc?si=hnudofyIin2TVi5X
The Leven Branch has some nice scenery, in parts, already mentioned by one of the well known Youtubers that the scenery is inconsistent on the branch. Speed boards on the branch are purely cosmetic, they aren't linked to the track or HUD, so when leaving Leven you overspeed as the board says 45mph, but the track is setup for 25mph. As you merge onto the branch from the mainline the 10mph turnout board is also cosmetic. There's floating trees and bushes as you enter the Branch, and the Heritage site has been modelled in the most lazy, can't be arsed manner possible. The original route continues look half done, with a skeleton timetable. I did a 1hr 20min all stopper to Leven and saw 2 other trains. At this point I am pretty sure that Rivet Games have a big poster in their offices with their motto ""Bare Minimum Is Best"". Fault lies with Don't Test it Guys Who happily publish these unfinished DLC.
Eh, agree to disagree. Again, I think "appalling" is entirely a personal opinion of emotional outrage which I don't happen to share. "Appalling" means "horrifying and frightful"... something that shocks you to your core like a car crash with decapitations and blood everywhere. Is it really that bad? Or just slightly disappointing? This is what I mean about hyperbole. It's a video game DLC you don't enjoy as much as you want to. Just call it what it is. "Disappointing."
There has always been a lot of hyperbole on these forums. I wouldn't use the word appalling either as it is a very strong word. Certainly they could do better but I've been using FCL and enjoying it. I do feel Rivet seem to walk into criticism though.
One man's trash is another man's treasure. Its not actually that bad a route. The 170 isn't bad either. Bought at full price, no regrets.
Got it yesterday on the Steam discount, not at all as bad as made out (same as WCMLS!) - playing both un-modded and I'm enjoying them both. My main issues are the 170 sounds (or lack of) that makes it sound like you're running silent half the time plus what feels like a quiet timetable. A timetable really can make or break a route and is the case of the major issues on both this and WCMLS. I'm looking forward to the 158 being added and what I'm sure will be a far better and more in-depth timetable from Skyhook that actually uses way more layers. I think it has been mentioned as well I did find it odd that the Leven stop point was half way down the station not at the buffers. Other than that, I'll leave it to others to pick apart any real niggles.
Here's another bug for the list. Class 170 chopped in half by a door at Haymarket Depot. Near the train wash. image hosting
I sincerely respect what you are saying, but politely disagree. (I always try and make a note of that because comments on threads can often translate badly or come across rude, particularly critical comments.). However, I am going to stick with the word appalling. If this was one of their first routes I'd be very accepting of any problems or errors in the route. The problem is though Rivet aren't wet behind the ears anymore, they are a seasoned third party developer with a number of add on titles behind them now. There is absolutely no excuse for the school boy and damn right laziness of their mistakes. It's harsh, but that's the reality for me personally. With each add on most developers have noticeable quality development or a noticeable evolution in terms of build quality. Rivets British routes are truly awful, and always come across as half baked. There's been an incredible and specific enough amount of feedback and they do not listen and do not strive to improve. And for those reasons I personally feel they are appalling... And this was 6 months of work?! That is hard to believe! If we look and other third party developers, there is a clear evolution in terms of quality, features, and overall playability. Yeah there are faults with initial products but there is clear evidence they have learned and improved. Rivet do not even attempt to improve no matter how much constructive feedback they receive from the community. And when they do acknowledge it, they want sympathy (look at the most recent WCML saga for instance). This frustration boils over in the community and manifests itself with really harsh criticism. But it's completely valid in my opinion. I will never ever purchase another one of their products (unless on a significant sale). If people want to keep a company like that going that is up to them but I do not want to be part of it personally.
For me one of the biggest problems with rivet routes is the very poor timetables and lack of ai traffic. I can only put this down to laziness and cutting corners to save man hours and hence money, or perhaps them taking on more work than they can do. Whoever had the bright idea of putting them on one of the busiest bits of track in Europe with the WCMLS made a big mistake. Rivet are not capable of producing and implementing a timetable remotely close to reality when National Rail, Overground and Underground all run a very frequent service on the same route. In future rivet should stick to what they do best, which in my opinion is narrow gauge and Swiss railways like Arosa and Bernina, and quirky little lines like IOW. They should not be allowed within 100 miles of any more UK national rail routes UNLESS UK narrow gauge which I think they could do a decent job on.
Hello folks, we are currently going through your feedback for the Leven branch update, collating everything into a neat list which we will share with the dev team afterwards. Thank you for all of your feedback so far, if you find further bugs or have thoughts regarding inaccuracies, please let us know. All the best, Jan
