Hi AirbourneAlex, JT don't use .ap files. JT Tom mentioned this specifically at the end of his most recent JT stream.
I don't think that's correct. Maybe true if self-published, but JT's Kyle Line distributed through Steam definitely exists as an .ap file. I can say that with absolute certainty.
Thanks. Is this including steam releases though? As I would consider buying these via steam instead if they run smoother. Particularly Cornish Main Line and the new Southwestern Expressways.
Simple answer JT routes direct from JT come with an installer and are not in an ap file JT routes released thru Steam are in an ap file The JT Routes via Steam might run better but don't have as many scenarios and any errors found will take longer to release via DTG/Steam because of the various processes
I'm only interested in the route itself, so for me steam might be the better option if performance is actually improved. I've also noticed some assets downloaded via steam are not saved as .ap files (I don't want to buy a route through steam thinking it has better performance to find out it has no difference).
The assets from Steam normally come In an *.ap file - you computer only saves them in the format they arrive as.
This has been updated to v1.06 now: https://support.justflight.com/supp...07-south-western-expressway-reading-changelog
I have just contacted JT - as with the recently discovered update for 3CC which DTG held back for the Steam version, I'm afraid the update won't be pushed to Steam also this time. I won't tag any Community Manager, as they're not responding anyway here.
Presumably DTG holding out re the Steam version, rather than JT. Got to check which version I have, *think* it might have been a direct purchase from JT otherwise I'm screwed it seems. Edit: Rats, it's the Steam version. Pull your thumbs out DTG and actually allocate some staff resources to supporting TSC. Presumably the update, 1. Won't work correctly if applied to the Steam version and bearing in mind, 2. If not registered on your JT account can't be downloaded anyway.
Vern, there's no use in trying to educate DTG. I've asked JT, and they promptly added it to my account, just received the reply
The routes are compatible (same GUID). I've overwritten the Steam route (you'll not lose anything, all Workshop stuff will work with the JT version.)
Yes they've just granted me the same solution. Top notch service from JT. Now the question is, will that integrate with my JT purchased Western Mainlines or is it just the stuff further west which does that?
SWEX isn't part of Western Mainlines, it's a standalone route with some areas in common with WML but much higher quality - no integration sadly.
Okay not to worry, actually just read similar on the JT website. In time I will add the bits to get the full run from Paddington to Penzance, albeit as you say with not quite the same fidelity.
A note on Western Mainlines: it's used a different method of route building, so it's not known if a merge would even be possible or accurate as I'm sure the points of origin also don't match. I've also heard it said that Western Mainlines doesn't accurately match between Didcot and Bristol, so it would need to be rebuilt to be useful. I am not sure if BHBP is working on this or not, but they still have a lot to do on the southern end of their route anyway so it is irrelevant for now. I do remember something said about going to Paddington, but it would not likely be Didcot, instead continuing through Reading. So yes, someday the Bristol to Reading stretch will have to be added. (If it has been added, I am behind as I have not looked at the newer versions.)
