I saw a comment that this is coming out on the 26th now instead of the 21st? Did I take something out of context or is that accurate? Article still says 21st…

They could easily have edited the title, the forum software allows the OP to do so. And presumably a moderator. So sorry for ping dtg_jan and DTG Alex but can you please amend the title to avoid confusion and disappointment.

insane that you always have something to complain about. This new price isnt the new normal price of routes as shown by boston. DTG can make nice pretty long routes like frankfurt but this increased price is not just for the extra level of detail (which is way above the better DTG routes apart from goblin) you also get a bunch of new stock including a loco with 2 liveries, brand new coaches and wagons + some new variants and upgraded versions of older trains. Making it a whole package. I will gladly pay the price for this extreme level of detail

I think you answered your own question- as a much bigger team, every project is more expensive and must deliver a higher sales target just to break even, let alone make a profit (periodic reminder of why DTG exists). They also have to maintain and update the core game, which, especially with being a free upgrade for TSW5, doesn't really bring in much revenue.

As i said in another thread- why is this even controversial? Isn't a thriving 3rd-party scene exactly what we wanted?

Your overall point is valid and SPG does still hold up pretty well as a result, but do you really think if DTG had only put out 1 or 2 routes per year (even if objectively high quality) since TSW's launch that the community would be happy?

I'm very skeptical- people get bored and want something new and shiny. There would be even more complaints about countries/regions/eras not being represented for one thing

I think like anything it's a balancing act. I actually think DTG have done ok with it lately (WCMLS debacle aside).

Whilst l don’t disagree with your comment about DTG, they are not that far behind the excellence of Just Trains wonderful productions but Rivet Games are by far a long way off, the standards set, by Just Trains and other 3rd Party Developers. Rivet Games should not attempt to start another route until they have remastered all their products especially WCL.

Detailed manuals are very much appreciated. I think DTG should provide one for every release tbh.

I watched the DTG stream with JTs Tom and Benedict last Thursday and also Just Trains stream tonight with Tom Harrison, and l am absolutely blown away with the extremely high quality of work these guys have put in to developing and producing this outstanding route. I believe that it took over eleven months of work to get this route to where it is today for us all to enjoy and l will definitely be buying it on Tuesday. Congratulations to everyone at Just Trains for another fabulous offering.

Looking forward to this, although tempted to wait for the loco DLC for completeness as this looks like the 86.

Yeah, the 86 would be the cherry on the top.
But unlike other routes for TSW I've seen recently and decided not to get (yet), there's no doubt I'll be getting this on day one. It's a route I've long wanted in an era I am fond of and from a developer whose team have put so much work into it.
The Just Trains stream last night really showed off what I wanted to see on the route.

Yes it was a good tutorial for the 87.
I liked that he demonstrated isolating one of the traction motors, and also the unexpected consequence that the rheostatic (?) brakes didn't work.
Also I got a rough feel for where the neutral sections are going south, although I found constant references to 'Tebay' confusing, not being a local (presumably).

Finally caught up with one of the streams, well the first 40 minutes anyway.

Overall very impressed and confirmed Day One. I particularly appreciated the little nod from DTG Matt and DTG Alex regarding the restaurant car, though that doesn’t let you guys off (eventually) putting a Mark One RMB or RBR in the game. :)

Just a couple of caveats really. First off watching the section between Preston and Lancaster there was a fair bit of stuttering with accompanying sound rubber banding. Appreciate that is a core issue and not the fault of the route but does destroy the immersion a bit and needs to be towards the top of the to do list for the programmer(s).

Neutral sections - again a bit of a core thing, could really do with an icon in the upper right simplified HUD, particularly for when driving at night as not much is going to show up in 80’s era BR headlights.

Noted one of the scenarios is nearly two and a half hours long, which again highlights the need for more than one save slot so you can go off and do something else that might also need saving, then come back to it.

Sounds - way better than the unmodded 87 in TSC. The only thing I noticed, which might be me, is the rheostatic braking sound cut in very suddenly. Was wondering if it should gradually rise in pitch and volume as the brakes kick in? As I said, probably me.

Anyhow, Tuesday can’t come soon enough.

Just one late item to mention...

Was it me or on the stream at Oxenholme, on the Down there was a passenger embedded waist deep in the platform surface?

Yes there was Vern, as Tom said in the stream it is a core issue which has been spotted on other routes too. Heck, last night I dropped out of a train by walking through the gangway ;)

Funnily enough was just thinking the same thing. I’m guessing on Steam it will be the usual 1700 GMT but earlier would be nice. Sorry for ping, but DTG Alex can you list the go live times on the various platforms, please.

Why is there the same stuttering in this game five years after release, even with new "premium" content like this?

Some routes are much better than others - this one seems to suffer badly, despite not having extensive urban scenery assets like WCML or Boston. Similarly, Blackpool was also stuttery in places, which makes me wonder...

Are some developers / route designers better at minimising stutter than others? Have developers got to the bottom of why it happens in the first place?

These are the usual release times, but noticed in recent releases that DTG don't communicate release times anymore, only dates. Probably intentional. Too much negative feedback when the releases were ten minutes late :)

    Available now for PS players.
I had to manually search Carlisle in the PS store though.

Available on Xbox as well. Although did only appear when searching Carlisle.

For some reason searching add ons on the Xbox store doesn't bring it up, presume that's the same for the PS store.

    Hello folks !

Is there already a link to the Steam version of this DLC ?

Yes I know that it can only be downloaded on Steam from about 6 pm, but often you can see the purchase before that and can sometimes buy it before 6 pm.

If someone has such a link, please post it here.

    Thanks for that.

I guess my feedback would be that neutral sections could appear on the route HUD in the top right.

I'm surprised it lists some as the timetable should be the exact same as the PC one.

Hi JT Benedict I have attached a screenshot. Maybe whoever wrote the description must have got muddled up. It says only on the description of the route, not in the game itself.

Just a heads up to PC users, it is now showing available on the JT website (and will send the email notification out if you requested one) and does give a valid Steam key which can be activated but alas since Steam haven't "published" it yet it's not there to download/play so looks like we'll have to sit around until 6pm anyway :(

I'm starting to think it's probably just me. Never used a tap changer before, the fact I was tired from work probably didn't help.

Not really since the Series S is more of Gen8.5 than a Gen 9. It has the same/less RAM than the XBox One had depending on version.

It was definately misadvertised as a 9th gen by MS.

I find the same issue after a long day of parenting..

I’m cautiously learning the ropes in the training centre this morning instead. The 87 sounds awesome.

For anyone that doesn't know this, the up and down arrows on the D-pad for controller (at least on PS5) lets you tap up or tap down respectively (quick tap) and returns to hold.

I find this is the best way to make minor adjustments when driving, vs trying to grab and move the handle itself.

I am finding the 87 started off a little tricky but now is pretty straight forward... I do run ups/run downs for when I need to do big speed changes quickly (ie leaving a station, approaching a station, or speed changes), and for everything else like minor adjustments when running I use the quick up and down on dpad.

The combination of the route and loco keep you engaged with the train for sure. Because things don't happen instantly you have to think ahead to when and where you want to adjust your speed in order to keep timetable while also avoiding a SPAD or over/undershoot. I'd almost compare it to US freight in the way you need to think ahead (although a not as sloooooow and unforgiving).
