Because I have over £50 Steam Wallet credit to fund the purchase, so I can buy it without the wife going ape at me spending over £30 on a train sim add on. You get the two hour refund window if it turns out not as expected, albeit very unlikely in this instance. Keeps all the eggs in one basket in the event of a reinstall or JT happened to cease trading. I have some bits in TSC where I bought direct from the developer but usually because there was no choice in the matter.

As much as I've complained about the lack of layers on Gen 8, I do have to say that the performance is very good considering the circumstances!

The JT store just sells you a Steam key.

As he said he has 50 quid in Steam credit, I don't think you can transfer that to the KT site.

Steam credit was brilliant for me when I was younger as my parents hated me spending money on video games so it allowed me to be a bit more discrete XD

I believe when you buy TSW addons from JT you get a Steam key anyway.

But the caveats apply. You can't use Steam credit and as the money has been paid to the third party there is no process to get a refund.

Anyhow, with all due respect, what business is it of anyone else how an individual chooses to fund their purchases so long as it is a bona fide one.

I know this is slightly off-topic, but I keep seeing mentions of a class 86 being added. What’s that all about and is it true?

I wonder if they’d consider releasing a Mk3 DVT to go with it?

If its the picture with the headlight, then its an 86, it fits for the DLCs, has mixed traffic responsibilties and can layer/sub straight on to the timetable. Also can be used on the WCML South for Railtour layers. TBH the picture was that much of a giveaway I am not entirely sure why they havent come out with the information.

Also the riddle/puzzle/thing with the song titles all release in 1986, alluding to the possibility of more than one subclass!

The 86 fleet is quite interesting, by the time of WCML over Shap they were 86/1s, 86/2s and 86/4s. The /1s sat on WCML frontline diagrams, the /2s pretty much the same with power controllers requiring to note they were 100mph only and the /4s doing anything as required.

Thought it was so obvious,it was a red herring.
I spent a while, examining every locomotive from the 50's to the 90's.
    You're probably right JP.

You can obviously purchase any TSW route wherever you want, and it is indeed none of my business. However, I thought it was worth correcting the specific statement that I quoted for the benefit of any so-far undecided buyers who read it.

Ordering thru just trains just went live, so you can get your Steam code ready for when the PC version drops between 5 + 6

Ordering from JT is great for some countries with local currencies, for which the Steam exchange rates for Dovetail Games are horrible, since TSW4.

For Polish złoty it's some 15% above a normal exchange rate (and way above Epic, but sadly I'm bound to Steam by my collection).

Ahh I'm so torn whether to buy this or not. I only like present day routes BUT the 87 is one of my fave locos. I only want it for railtours on WCMLS...if you could get the locos separately! Can't please everyone haha.

Once 87002 in its current IC Swallow livery appears on Creators' Club, I'm sold!

Completely lived up to my expectations and hype that I had. It's one damn fantastic route... the love and effort that's gone into making this is very evident! (PS5)

Goes to show that the BR era is just as good as any modern day route.

Just finished doing the 1st part of 6S83 from preston to grayrigg loop. This is how close I came to getting a SPAD out of grayrigg loop onto the main line. Morale of this story is don’t let your 2 tractors underestimate 1000 tone of cement

You can place them manually. I did that this morning when before taking the stock from a Class 40 to release it and then shunted it back fter the 40 left. You can even put the bardic lamp on the other lamp Iron and turn it on when reversing the stock back intot he platform after the forty has cleared off.

    Absolutely buzzing.
Just got a perfect score on a northbound run using the 87.
Service 1S53 only stopping at Oxenholme and Carlisle.
On time arrival at Oxenholme (24 seconds late actually but still 240 AP) and 35 seconds early into Carlisle managing to stop at both stations within 2 yards and no speeding penalties.
    Max score 13,180.

Not bad considering that was only the second time I drove the 87.

Its an 86 as all the songs that were listed in the news piece (i have pasted below) are from 1986.

    Lamp1.png

    The Songs listed were

“No need to pant with excitement! In the Top Ten, this DLC will Hit That Perfect Beat especially for those with Suspicious Minds as It’s A Kind Of Magic.”

In 1986, the band Fine Young Cannibals' cover version, which features backing vocals by Jimmy Somerville, reached No. 8 on the UK Singles Chart. Singer Roland Gift said that Elvis had come to him in a dream and told him he would record the greatest version of "Suspicious Minds" ever.

"A Kind of Magic" is the title track of the 1986 album of the same name by the British rock band Queen. It was written by the band's drummer, Roger Taylor, for the film Highlander and featured as the ending theme. The single reached number three in the UK Singles Chart,

Although later versions of the 86 had better HIL's

Yeah I know but it would be quite cool seeing as the route is already set in 1986, so realistically shifting it forward by 3 years to 1989 is not going to change a lot.

Not really. I mean one massive additional appeal of this route is that none of the driving is going to be from near silent cab cars, which effectively the DVT is.

It was mentioned at multiple times I think that you can't hear the tapping of the tap changer doing its thing. How can I get the chance to actually hear it in action.

You can hear it in one of the cabs as the mechanisms are located just behind it (not sure which cab it is though).
I've run 2 services with the 87 and heard it both times (it sounds like a sewing machine).

In one screenshot in article it showed a class 37. Is this just merely an AI layer and how do I get it on this route? Assume by having tees valley?

    Or is the loco playable.

It's playable but only a few services for it and yes, you need TVL and whatever DLC the wagons come from.

The headcode box thing with it's rivets is visible above the lamp on the render, if they had left it off there may be some doubt but it's so obviously an 86 as it is.

Really wish DTG could push for an earlier release slot, not only that I was convinced it was 1700 when in GMT and 1800 in summer time. By the time it downloads, my early evening gaming session will be over so have to try later.

the fact this route is nearly double the size of kassel wurzburg, a route which is roughly 110 miles is astonishing

shows that the amount of assets in it, the stock, and the length, is unlike anything the UK playerbase has seen

it truly is a chonker of a route
