I jumped out of the cab on the 47 rescue scenario without looking and fell over the fence down an embankment and under a farmers bridge, and couldn't get back to the loco Wasn't sure whether there was a key press to get you back to the cab, so binned the scenario off and will look before I leap next time
Class 87 vigilance, just goes off every minute. Unless it’s different on 87s it should be tied into use of the power handle.
Just a thought on the sound jitters. Has anyone tried the 87 on another OHLE UK route to see if the issue persists there? If not then something is pointing towards an issue with the Shap route itself.
I'm having a blast with this ... haven't managed to leave Carlisle yet, as I'm busy exploring the old haunts and going "wow" ... I feel like I've been transported right back there, it's quite emotional Loving the familiarity, also enjoying those little things that remind me it's set after few years after my time there (station ticket barrier gone, a few of the 87's have "new" names etc)... quite blown away, this is everything I was hoping for, and some! Thank you JT/DTG!
Usually by now I have a plethora of pictures to share showing floating assets, unfinished terrain, Timetable anomalies and general bugs. But it appears that Just Trains have produced (once again) a stunning route of a very high standard. The only bug I have found is the Level Crossing gates at Bare Lane rise again if you are scheduled to stop at the station. Carnforth looks amazing, the opportunity to "play trains" is immense. 10/10 to JT.
On a timetable service I came across a small issue, partly of my own doing. I jumped straight in without the manual and was doing pretty well until my wife and daughter came home and distracted me. Must have missed a neutral zone and lost all power. Not really knowing what to do, I left the cab and went for a walk through the 87 engine room. When I got to the other cab door and opened it, I was transported me to the first carriage. Only way back to the driving seat was ctrl & 0
Steamtown Carnforth....I never visited before it closed but I assume there was rolling stock on site? On the game it's empty (PS5), though I did enjoy spawning some steam engines and carriages and trundling around the site. That aside though, so far I'm really enjoying it. It's a real triumph this route. The 87 is chefs kiss beautiful, the sounds, the sight, I could almost smell it, and the sound of the carriages, talk about going back to my youth. The route is glorious to look at and is already in my top two favourite routes.
I think they said they put a few wagons close or something but they wanted to leave it open so we could do our own displays etc spawn whatever we wanted
Finding the same on the Steam version with keyboard. It is far to aggressive. You just touch the brake key and it slams on 50% brake.
Im blown away by this route so far. Did two runs up and down the line with a Passenger Train to Carlisle and a Speedlink back to Preston. The 87 is stunning to drive! Im on PS5 and found the controls of the Tap Changer with the R1 and R2 buttons to be absolute intuitive. Not tried it with D-pad as i don't felt the need for it. So thats really good and i wouldn't mind if it stays like this. The Sounds of this Loco, especially under braking, is just amazing. The Sounds itself are really immersive and the mixing seems to be spot on. As is the suspension on that thing, the way it sways around.... Its just stunning and really pleasant to drive. The Route itself is bonkers. On my first run to Carlisle, at around Shap Summit, i opened the Map and truly realised how long it is. And it feels long, even with Passenger Trains. Really love the feel of getting from a more flat area loke preston, to the rather hilly sites. It feels like driving through regions rather one region. So that in itself is outstanding and also the level of detail is something else. Also this. I've not seen one single hole in the Ground. The Quality of this Route is amazing. Given the Lenght and Detail, i cant strech enough how amazed i am by this. Ive not spend so many hours on this route so these a rather first impressions but this is just amazing work. What? All the UK stock has AWS and DVD both set to Q by default. So AP's implementation in TSC is wrong. Very interesting...
I'm guessing sales have exceeded expectations as steam keys are 'out of stock' on Just Trains website now!
Thats just how DVD worked on all old BR locos, no matter what controls you pressed it is just on a 1 minute (give or take a few seconds due to old electronics). Can see that in this video, the DVD goes off 1 minute (or in this case 57 seconds) after the first despite plenty of changing the power controller position.
Afternoon Vern Can you please check in device manager; you've got just one sound output enabled. If more than one, disable it. I've run the 87 down ECML. No sound issue with (rubber band)one twang outside Grantham. Including over speed .120mph, still nothing to report. Running Creative ae5 soundcard and creative 5.1.speakers
Can second your observation r4 But some carriages are static and others are functional. Example restaurant/buffet static M12033 second working as expected
For me it seemed like issue was only on coaches with Intercity livery but there could me more to this..
I've noticed when approaching Carlisle or Preston, the Xbox Series S will hitch briefly a couple of times as these large stations load-in. It seems to be a 50/50 chance of the game hanging and crashing to dashboard during one of these loading hitches. The loading stutters seem far less noticable during night services, probably thanks to less draw distance and asset loading being required.
I also noticed some LOD type issue with photo mode on PS5, with a 87/Mk3 consist. When I loaded photo mode, everything looked great at the front of the train which is where my camera was. But when I moved toward the back, the coaches that were farther away were the lower LOD models meant for far distance viewing (janky looking window shapes etc) but they didn't update to the high LOD when I got close. In non-photo mode there isn't an issue. I am going to take another look at it, I feel like I've seen that issue on other routes too (MML being one).
I’ll certainly check that but I don’t have a separate sound card, just the built in Realtek which has never let me down. I guess it’s possible the GPU might be trying to output sound through the HDMI even though the monitor doesn’t have speakers. Will report back after teatime.
so there’s 2 binds one for AWS and one for alerter/DSD/DVD and you are correct that they are by default both bonded to Q, but it’s possible to split them out onto individual keyholes usually. Unfortunately on the 87 they have used the AWS key bind for both so it can’t be split out.
Was driving service 1S40, mail train in down direction. At Carlise I did the uncoupling of the 10 cars, got the evaluation screen, pressed E to exit to the menu and when I selected main menu crashed with a UE error screen. Completed the service and really am enjoying this route so far. Having less first run studders and such here than in any past route which is nice. Getting the hang of Raildriver running the tap controller.
On series S: when you are in the engine room of the 87, you can see through the power generators/transformers when you are close up.
On the approach to Morecambe, the signal sequence seems to be Green Colour Light > Home Signal Off > Buffer Stop Is that correct or should it be: Yellow Colour Light > Home Signal On, pulled off as train approaches > Buffer Stop. Seems strange to reach the buffer stops with no caution signals beforehand
I second this, also on Series S. Also, when leaving cab and entering “equipment compartment”, external sounds become very loud, (from muffled in cab, to as though you are outside). Is this intentional, to represent no sound proofing and the many vents/grills, or an unintended consequence of creating an accessible equipment compartment, perhaps the core game treating anywhere outside the cab as properly outside the loco? I have to say though that this route is as amazing as I hoped it would be and worth every long week of waiting. Class 86/87s fan roars are literally the soundtrack to my childhood. JT have raised the bar higher again and we can old hope that other devs strive to achieve this level.
Some of these have been reported ... Bare Lane towards Morecambe - level crossing is up and cars going across AI drivers in wrong ends of Class 87, if you take over one of these services you have to switch cabs to turn the lights off and retrieve the master key 1A26 gets to Preston and is held at signal PN147, it seems to be due to 2P43 sat in platform 6 which never moves but has a green to go across you. Delete that service and you are allowed to go. DSD goes off *a lot* even when you're doing things, which is ultra annoying. Not sure if it should do that?
This was addressed in a reply earlier. It seems that the DVD in this time frame was set on a timer, around a minute, and it just goes off. Moving other controls and such does not effect it.
I will commend JT on how fast their issue reporting is responded too. I filled a ticket related to a Raildriver problem; it works in the BR blue 87 but not in the IC version. I received an email from Ian within 2 hours and he reports that it was taken to the tech team, and they will look into this issue. Further they have no idea why it works on one and not the other.
You're (probably) correct, but the failure to implement Rule 39a has been a part of TSW since semaphore signals were introduced, and they have refused to fix it.
The neutral section start sign just north Penrith station on the southbound line is hidden behind a bush/tree so you cannot see it on approach.
Service 1M35 from Glasgow Central to London Euston leaves you with red light right before preston. So, for now you can´t finish Journey mode aswell.
Excellent route, just having fun being a passenger and looking at the views. Will master the 87 tonight. Is anyone else having a hunt around for "easter eggs" or clues over what loco JT are building? I've checked out most stations now and.....nothing.
It might just be me as i was running several mins late and there was another train in front, who ended up on platform 4 at Preston. Waited 5 mins but it never departed.
I was exploring Hest Bank on foot last night (which is amazing btw, you can walk on the beach and theres even a bench to sit on) and noticed something... Around 10:50-10:51 I was in the signal box checking things out, when the crossing arms and signals on the road crossing came down. I figured a train was approaching, which it was... but it was quite far away. I want to say the crossing arms were down for a full 1-2 minutes if not more before the train came through. Then they stayed down for quite a while after that. I am not sure if that is intended, or realistic to that area. Usually TSW has the opposite issue where gates don't come down or do it at the last possible section when the train is about to hit the crossing. Either way I figured I'd mention it. It’s not something that would typically be noticed by a player unless hanging around on foot.
is it OK that sounds in class 87 cabin are different from livery to livery (or from train to train, idk). On a ride with BR Blu livery I found sounds in the cabin more crisp, especially notch up/down sounds very distinct. On another ride with Intercity livery, sounds were very dull, notch up/down sounds couldn't be heard at all.
One other thing to note. On resuming a Save game, if you broke off with the power controller on, it is not resuming that state but going back to 0, so you then need to move the handle from Hold back to Off then wait to apply power again. Not game breaking but a bit of a nuisance.
Xbox Series S Class 142 Pacer DMU Timetable service: 08:53 2P43 Preston - Carlisle Maximum speed of a class 142 DMU is 75mph, but the game is telling me to do 110mph. If this happened in real life, it would be like riding a bouncy castle in the Wacky Warehouse ... until the Pacers engines violently exploded around 90mph.
The sounds are quite different between the two cab ends, depending on which machinery is closest to each cab, so it may have been that.
JT Benedict I hope you saw this and could potentially inform us if any of these will be addressed and/or when the first patch/update for this amazing route will drop?
