Can someone else please try the 87 light engine move, 0M12 at 13:55 When I play (on PC), it starts with loco lurching forward and the pantograph is down. The pan remains down, I can't get it to raise.
Cab end 1 and cab end 2 have different sounds. In cab 1 end the fans are louder. In cab end 2, the tap changer is louder. The sounds you hear all depend on which way round the loco is.
A minor one, while playing out my first run. Not all the bridges appear to have reverb enabled. Not listing every one but an example is the brick skew bridge just north of where the north chord off the Morecambe branch runs in.
Well, yeah that's the point of the scenario Platform: Steam Scenario: Broken Down Details: Shunt signal won't clear as it detects a train in the next block which is the point of the scenario Edit: Eventually let me Also, The rear intercity coach's wheels don't rotate Apart from that, I'm loving it, it looks, sounds and feels incredible. The use of CTRL for tap changing and then springing back is a nice feature and the use of shift for quickly moving through the notches is great
You need to make sure the change ends lever is also set to on. Yes, you have to wait a few minutes for the signaller to change the points and allow you into the section.
Perhaps, but in the game settings the AWS has its own keybind, which is better to have. I've got many British trains in TSW. Many (if not all) have functionnal differentiated AWS and DSD/DVD reset keys (Class 66, 158, 170, 323, 375/9, 380, 387, 465, 700, 710, 801...); They are not the same system and it makes zero sense to acknoledge AWS each time you do the routine task of resetting the DVD timer. The same for the German trains in the game, PZB Wachsam has a separate key from SIFA. It would make sense and be more realistic for the Class 87 to be set the same way. On one cab it is separated, on the other cab it uses the same key. Maybe a little mistake have been made.
Ha, I did notice the urinals at one station. Does the 87 have a flushing driver's toilet? I was hoping to find an "APT - Coming Soon" advert board round the corner from a station.
I was also late on this service and ended up tailing a freight for several miles towards Preston at 60mph. The freight stopped in platform 4 and I was held at a red just prior to Preston. I can't remember how long I waited, I was on the verge of deleting the freight so I could complete the service, and then it got a green and moved off. I could then go into the platform. Think I was about 15 minutes late overall into Preston.
XBOX Series S Timetable: 08:53 2P43 Preston - Carlisle Noticed a few missing sections of OHLE contact wires heading to Lancaster from Preston.
There is definitely an issue. I was also running a few minutes late and ended up following 6V75 into Preston which is booked on Platform 4 same as 1M05. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear to have a further instruction to move off to a portal so just ends up sat there at a red signal blocking the platform. Luckily I was able to delete it from the 2D map and despite the warning about failing the Journey then got signalled into the station and was able to complete. But it looks like something missed with the timetable there.
Should the notch indicator go above the 100 mark? As I run up the tap changer the very last notch-up jumps from 100 to the position in the image. If I notch-down one step then it goes back to 100. Doesn't affect operation of the loco, just looks odd.
One other bug I found, the game thinks the Morecambe branch (I haven't tried other non-electrified tracks yet) has OHLE. If you spawn an overhead electric train there it still gets powered
Started my second run and the sound hitching is still there, maybe not quite so bad but definitely an issue. The other thing slightly grinding my niggle on this second Journey run is that both this and the first one started off sunny but almost immediately deteriorated into the classic TSW tropical thunderstorm which persists for most of the trip. Would it have been too much to ask whoever compiled this to leave off the dynamic weather so we could see the scenery on the first run in each direction. Particularly knowing how stupidly the dynamic weather works plunging into extreme storm and not going back.
hi all pc user here not tried the route yet but have run the 101 on Blackpool branches and i a few things I've noticed first is blimey it rocks a bit after leaving Preston running on the 75mph stretch. maybe a little too much but only on certain parts. ive got my camera sway set to 200% so this may be part of it, or if there is a track smoothness setting in the editor I'm not sure, but yeah it rocks a lot to the point of trying to operate anything with the cursor is hard work. second and i think this was mentioned by a PS5 user that the brakes are very reactive. seems the same on pc. even a 20% apply rapidly leads to a full application within a split second or two. not a major thing just got to be quick on them. third one is that it seems when coasting down hill brakes off no throttle that its losing speed rather than gaining. I've put the hud back on tonight and just to check I wasn't going up hill but no. after leaving Kirkham down the 1-400 grade it was losing speed. could be something I've missed but seemed odd. love the buzzer however with the red light though. for some reason it reminds me of the daleks and cannot stop pressing it with out thinking exterminate.... regards phil
I've done a second complete run with the Class 87, very pleasing experience with lots of details ! So far I really like this DLC, it's really engaging. It's really pleasant ! Adding the neutral sections on the top right of the screen could be a plus. I noticed passengers falling off onto the tracks from the Class 101 at Bare Lane and Lancaster :
Certainly in the present day those gates close long LONG before a train passes. Quite handy when you’re spotting as gives you plenty of advance notice but not so handy when you’re sat in your car trying to get on or off the car park!
I have some issues but mostly related to DTG core. Otherwise another BIG issue is that I don't have enough time to enjoy the route, something called "work" is stealing many hours between 6am and 16pm. Hopefully it will be fixed with the next patch.
The HUD should reflect the max speed of the train you're driving if it's max speed is below the line speed.
We're busy compiling a list to be included with the first update. One thing to note with the first thing you've mentioned if you hold ctrl + a and d that will allow you to manually tap up and down giving you more control whereas shift + a and d will move from hold to run up or run down.
Out of interest does this happen on other routes? On SEHS driving a 465 the HUD shows the line speed to me, which out at Faversham is higher than the train is capable of doing. My understanding has always been the HUD shows the line speed and not the top speed of the train.
It depends if the service has the max speed set per service because when you add a timetable service in the editor, you have an option to select the maximum permitted speed for the formation in that service. For example, on Bremen - Oldenburg, the BR 110 and 425 operated services force the maximum speed to be 140kph even when in 160kph zones to discourage from going over the train's maximum speed capability even if the line speed is greater.
Liking the detail so far but have a few critiques since this seems to be set in a specific year with a lot of posters citing 1986, because ever since Blackpool Branches I think the posters are a brilliant touch, whether they're recreations of originals or in the 'style' of BR, they really add to the scene. So, there's quite a lot of 'Age of the Train' era ads (in the style of Merrymaker posters) .... I have a lot to say on those. So, obviously those were to promote the IC-125s, and only lasted until 1984 as often cited. Given the prescence at major stations, and the lack of HSTs I think this is an odd and inacurrate design choice for the year represented, when the 'We're Getting There' slogan had replaced it already. Other critique although I don't want to seem crass pointing it out but there's a tribute to someone who well, has passed in 2023, but I'm not trying to suggest removing a personal tribute because of one person's observation, I just think these elements stick out when other posters and details are very specific to a year timeframe. Also yes same issue with the Pacer guard not working right now, and I think it seems a bit ridiculous that you insta-fail the non-DMU guard scenarios by stepping out to blow your whistle, when most guards would do that, wave green and head back in. The driver's not going to see them if they're still inside their coach. I'm not expecting flags, although it would be nice as another task, just a delay or not instant fail from following classic guard behaviour. Otherwise I want to stress that I really do like the detail present, I didn't experience the BR days first-hand and don't know the area well, but I love being able to explore and experience these areas and time capsules in every sense, and things like BR's publicity and infrastructure especially. I just think a few tweaks would help here and there, esp. since the posters are mostly a texture-related thing. I think the others present feel fun to place and really sell the era, bonus points for using authentic photos as-well as graphics and recreations from screenshots. This is my first feedback here, so thanks for your patience.
Noticed a bit of a signal/timetable issue with a service just now. Started off on 1A26 with the Class 47... train is Barrow to London Euston but you drive it from Carnforth to Lancaster. At Lancaster, the service ends but I decided to return to game (didn't quit to menu) and continue. So it has me disconnect from the coaches, I become 0Z00 Lancaster to Ladywell (Preston) as a light engine. An 87 in a siding then attached to my coaches and left a little after me and would be following me to Preston with my original coaches. I made it to Preston. Service ends when I stop at Platform 7, but again I stick with it and becomes a new service, only a few minutes long, where I drive from Platform 7 and park in the Ladywell sidings. I do that, but at that point the 87 pulling my original train (1A26) had arrived at the signal prior to entering Preston and got stuck there. I think at signal PN147 showing red. That train is scheduled for Preston at 09:04 but as of 09:08 was still sitting at a stuck red. I am not sure why because the platform ahead was clear. I tried deleting the train to see if the signal would change but it did not. At the same time, I noticed a Pacer 2P43 was parked at Platform 6 with its doors open. This service should have departed at 08:55 but was still sitting there with its doors open as of 09:12. I tried taking it over and seeing if there was something holding it there but as soon as I took it over it seemed fine for me to close the doors and carry on, so I am not sure why it never left Preston as AI. Its arrival time for Lancaster should have been 09:18 so me taking it at 09:12 from Preston never would have made it (I didn't continue the session after this). I tried spawning a new session myself as the Pacer (2P43). The light engine (in this case I think a class 40) on 0Z00 arrived and did its movement into Ladywell. I left on time. Passed the 87 on 1A26 as it came into Preston. It stopped at PN147 around 8:55, but by 9:00 changed to yellow and the train was able to make it stop. So all good. Next I tried spawning into Preston on foot at 08:50 to see what the Pacer 2P43 would do on its own if left to AI on a fresh service. At 08:50 it was at platform 6 with its doors closed, no driver. At 0853 the driver spawned in, doors opened and train was prepped for departure. At 08:54 the light engine 0Z00 (this time a 47) arrives. At 08:55 the pacer closes its doors and departs properly, and around the same time the Class 47 does its move into Ladywell. 1A26 hits the red signal at 08:58, but gets yellow by 08:59 and makes it into the station. So these services seem fine on their own but something about when I operated 0Z00 (and probably arrived about 5 minutes later than the AI usually does) caused an issue that made the Pacer get stuck at station and the PN147 signal get stuck on red for 1A26. That is something I have noticed on a few TSW routes where the timetable works fine when you do individual services with each fresh start, but if you stay in the game for a while going from one service to the next without going back to menu, eventually you break something.
Replace work with wife who decides a fun evening is watching the latest Taylor Sheridan show on Paramount for two hours when I could be ragging that 87! Back on topic, great to see JT in here collating the feedback. After reflecting on things overnight I am coming round to thinking that maybe the devs have inadvertently done a bit of a Sherman Hill in terms of the detail or at least the assets used to provide that detail. All that grass, crop and scrub everywhere may look nice but needs a thorough reassessment as to how much load drawing all those polys is putting on performance, particularly on consoles and older PC’s. I mean yes we have effects like that in Snowrunner, various FPS shooters which run perfectly all right but they are not trying to keep up with a scene being passed through at speed and quickly redrawn.
I'm having a similar issue on the PS4 but it's none of my downloaded locos/DMU's that are appearing. The only loco I can access a timetable for is the Class 87 only
I think that's how it is for the old gen consoles I'm afraid. Only the 87 timetable but you can run the other locos in free roam
I remember Preston having red light issues on Blackpool Branches, if you were even slightly late during a Class 08 parcel shunting service then an arriving train would use the track you needed and in turn that train would need the track you were on, causing stalemate. Unforunately the dispatcher isn't capable of problem solving, it's just following a script, so where we as players can see a way to quickly reroute something to clear the blockage, the AI will just sit there confused.
This is how it’s meant to be on Gen8. it was notified in advance that PS4 and XBox One would only get the 87 in the timetable.
I hate guard mode! 3 journeys, either no tickets to check (thus 0 points) or I'm failing the service for not getting back on the train in time! Will stick to driving for now...
It's got potential for sure. On Fife Circle it's really well implemented and always loads of tickets to check. Makes the journey feel a lot quicker than driving it. Was hoping to try it on the Pacer on WCML but apparently not implemented properly yet ? Back on the WCML Feedback, I'm absolutely blown away by this route. Had been sticking to short journeys in the Pacer and 101, but did my first full Preston to Carlisle trip last night in the 87. An absolute joy to drive and even managed to spot all but one of the Neutral zones Top marks to Just Trains again.
On PC, Class 87 can be painted in Livery Designer, but repaints do not appear in Scenario Planner or Formation Designer. Will only appear in Free Roam. I've been able to share it on the Hub, but don't know if it will work for anyone else either!
0E43 (hardendale), when coupling to the wagons, derailment occurs, game over - it appears that the last wagon is overlapping with the buffers.
Afternoon everyone! Could i please start by extending thanks to everyone who has taken the time to purchase the route. Its great to see so many people enjoying, taking screenshots and sharing experiences with us. Everyone's Feedback on here logged into Jira for attention in an upcoming post releases patch in due course. In the meantime, please continue to post feedback and bugs and i will review the page again in the coming days as we move forward! Best regards, Tom
I did spot something earlier. Can't recall the service but it was after 12pm, a Four coach 142 service from Morecambe to Lancaster, the front set had the number 012345 instead of the usual 1420XX number.
It's probably worth mentioning that I thought the car door open/close sounds on the (Shap) 47 were very quiet. Oh and I ploughed into a load of cars at Bare Lane but that's already on the radar
Love the route, however as an experienced 101 driver with thousands of miles driven since buying Trans Pennine in 2019, I didn't enjoy my first drive in the altered version. The brakes are incredibly sensitive and a tiny input on the controller now slams them on, dumping the vacuum. Secondly, why have you put the buzzer on the D pad? I've always used it to change gears and now I can't without a cacophony of buzzing. It's not difficult to actually use the buzzer button on the desk and you only use it once per station stop. Please put it back the way it was, it's always been my favourite train to drive but not like this. I'm on PS5 by the way. Also, could we please have the location of the neutral sections on the hud? Failing that, at least put them on the map so we can see where they are. I know it's down to route knowledge but it feels like an impossible task spotting a tiny sign at 110mph and if we had some clues it would help build the route knowledge we need.
That is a core TSW bug since TSW2020. Happens on a lot of other routes: - GWR Class 43 HST sets showing cab number "00000" on Great Western Express - Mk2 coaches in the middle of train formations on Northern Trans-Pennine show "M12345" - AI Class 158s stabled in depot's on Skyhook's Midland Mainline route show "12345" - Some AI Class 142 Pacers on Blackpool Branches spawn as "12345" - Midland Mainline Class 43 HST coaches stabled at depots show "12345" when layered on ECML Doncaster - Peterborough. Probably happens on many other routes, but the above are what I've noticed myself during gameplay.
I think this may be a DTG fix rather that a JT one, but the 87 subs onto the East Coastway Railtour. I see technical difficulties with this run
Since you upgraded to TSW5 your controls might have switched themselves, try switching either to classic or immersion to see if that helps.
Thanks Benedict. Just checked and it's definitely on classic as it's always been, not immersion. Edit....having spent more time driving the 101 I've switched to Immersion which takes care of the unwanted buzzer sounds. As for the sensitive brakes, well, I've just relearnt them and I'm quite used to it now. Just needs a very gentle touch. Brilliant route, absolutely loving it.
