Also this one which is interesting https://flic.kr/p/aMendc and Anglia Blue which is eye catching whatever wears it https://flic.kr/p/2o8P5Ce
You can, they never wore electric blue until the retro repaints of 86233 'Alstom Heritage' and 86259 'Les Ross', the original livery as delivered was rail blue with small panel and white windows and roof.
I would hope the Freighliner livery may come as proper DLC. Does anybody know if 3rd party sharing has taken place....... I don't think I've seen it? I know they have taken DTG models and created their own version for routes, but I don't believe we have seen 3rd party to 3rd party. Be great for someone to do a Freighliner DLC pack, but that would mean, for example, skyhook taking a JT asset and repainting it. Not sure if IP is an issue, or if its all owned by Dovetail.
A Freighliner pack would be amazing. It could include an 86 and a 66, each with a few variations of the Freighliner livery.
My hope is, that no other dev is touching the cl.76 /77, 81-85 / 89-91 / dvt / dbso Looking at the effort and attention to detail, those unit have to be made by jt. To mention DTG, im sure they had their hands on those too with supporting jt with the tools, but its just a guess.
Does the 86 add any new services? Or will it be there for the 100mph limited services which are already there?
I think apart from the 91/DVT the rest have little to no chance of being touched by any other developer. The 91 and MK4 DVT seem like a brilliant money maker so I wouldn't be surprised if someone picked it up to implement on the modern ECML. Wouldn't mind to be honest either, the Ox-Blood livery is gorgeous.
We all knew the 86 was coming and while I'm delighted it's finally been confirmed, the fact we'll finally get the MK1 Buffet and air con MK2s was a wonderful surprise. I've been wanting those coaches for a long time so those and the 86 will be a day one purchase. And speaking of the 86, nice to see the pantograph variations.
Highly unlikely, but the 91 and ECML extended down to Kings Cross was mooted. Imagine if that was the festive reveal finale!
I would be like OldVern was with the 86 if we got a 91 . My only concern if JT do it would be that I would very much like it in the LNER era, with 801s layered etc., but JT mainly does older stuff based on their output for TSW. That said, it would certainly be a high quality model.
JT has some good sense of what players wanted, just look at their WCMLoS, you could also call it the Forums pleaser As im reading Class 91 all over the forum, the demand is clearly there. Absolutely wouldn't be surprised if they did just something like this, even if BR Blue is just a fantastic era represented accordingly form JT.
Tbh, if not LNER I could be happy with East Coast in the grey livery too. Would prefer this to BR Blue and Intercity, as have personal memories travelling on East Coast, Virgin Trains, and LNER 91s.
I'd love the GNER era on ECML too. I travelled with GNER many times to visit family from my home town. Their HSTs and 225 sets were fantastic and comfortable. I was even lucky enough to sample their White Rose service a few times with the class 373s (Eurostar units).
I’d like to see a 91 and mk4 set in any livery, but not from JT. As the one developer doing BR blue, I want them to stick with it. I’m hoping for the 91 from DTG. It would add enormously to the Peterborough - Doncaster route, and it would be good to see another section of the East Coast too.
Is there even any room for the 91 in ECML's timetable without a complete rebuild? It can't substitute as an IC225 is 11 vehicles and Azumas are 5, 9 or 10.
Yeah, but the 801 is a layer, not a substitution. As far as I know, layers do not need to be the same length.
With regard to the B/G Mark Ones and the RMB, I do hope in addition to substitution on the WCML and BPO routes, JT are in talks with DTG to also get these layered on to NTP, maybe not so much TVL as there's not much loco hauled passenger traffic on there.
Just saw this on Just Train's 2024 Year roundup but here are some new Dev Photos they have released enjoy.
They do look amazing.. I would be beyond pleased if JT gave us all 60 86/2s (86201 - 86261) which would be a challenge seeing how every /2 was named in 1986 (my info is sourced from the Class 86 wiki page - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_86#Fleet_details)
I assume you mean the train reporting number being displayed on the front? If so, this was abolished on 1st January 1976, as it was no longer necessary due to the TOPS system, electronic display boards in signal boxes, etc. The headcodes were set to 0O00 from this date (Class 52s for some reason displayed their locomotive number), disc headcodes (see Class 20 and 40 in game) were set to class A (one on left and one on right), until the headcode boxes were plated over or the rollerblinds replaced with a "Domino" display (see Class 31 and 40 in game), and in many cases the discs and headcode boxes were eventually removed (see TVL Class 37/5 and 101 in game).
Through numerour 86 image search so far I've only been able to find one class 86 with domino display which was 86213 with a intercity livery circa 1988 so it would make sense for at least one to have domino displays hope JT decided to model one with it.
I have to say those MkIIs are looking excellent. Bringing back many memories of them trailing behind a noisy Deltic giving it the beans starting the climb up stoke bank. Though for now them trailing behind a 86, 87, 47 or 45 will suit my needs!
My hope is all new BR stock to the game is reserved for JT to make exclusively if they want it. Excluding DTG, they're the only party proven capable of doing the BR era justice.
Would like to see a picture of the RMB though, including interior. I would even offer myself up for motion capture as the virtual steward behind the buffet counter, serving pork pies, Mr Kipling fruit pies and MaxPax tea and coffee. Though one look at my ugly mug with maniacal grin, would probably put the punters right off.
I’d prefer that there were a number of parties making BR era stock. I accept that would mean a degree of variation in quality, but the problem with only JT making stock is firstly that there’s a risk they’ll stop doing it - and then nobody will be doing it - and secondly that as they’re a relatively small team the output is quite slow - one route per year plus (this year) an add-on. That’s absolutely no criticism of JT - who I think are brilliant - but I’d like to see others joining them in making historical routes and trains, rather than everyone else just doing modern-era. It’s a bit unbalanced currently.
I can see your point, there's a lot to cover in BR when you consider all the regions. I suppose as long as any joining parties interested in BR can put together something close to or matching the quality of JT, it would be okay. Then again if JT's content sells really well, they might find means to expand their team, giving them more resource to make content. Whatever the case, keep Rivet away from BR! West Cornwall Local was and still is a complete and utter travesty... On the subject of variety, I'm still holding the tiniest slither of hope that a third party interested in steam traction will come to TSW and revive it, despite DTG's steam physics issues. We have no pre-grouping or big four era content and that's just focusing on the UK. Germany and the US have steamers that should be represented in TSW as well. Its just absurd to me that DTG shafted steam they way they did... Complete & utter madness, that's all there is to it. Better stop there otherwise I'll go off on a right tangent...
New look at one of the new 86/2 liveries and some interior shots of our favorite coaches. Plus some interesting loco info Also, we reveal an additional livery for the Class 86/2! We have previously shown you two of the included liveries, but this one makes it three with the addition of the red buffer beams and the black Headcode box. The liveries we showed previously to this had either a yellow Headcode box or a split black/yellow one. These slight livery changes happened during the mid-1980’s. The livery featured here, which has the additional centre headlight and the TDM (Time Division Multiplex) cables fitted on the front, is a unique variant for the class that is featured in our pack and was named ‘City of Coventry’. In real life and not in the case of this simulation, the TDM cables were originally fitted for lighting control of the coaches. Later BR adapted them for driver/guard communication. The City of Coventry locomotive also has the Brecknell Willis High Speed Pantograph which is different in design to the normal Stone-Faiveley AMBR type as shown in the other included Class 86’s variants. The High-Speed Panto allowed a capable loco (which to be clear, this variant of the 86 is not), to run up to 125 MPH whereas the AMBR type was only allowed to run up to 100MPH
I have had a lot of catching up to do, and this is certainly the most interesting project for the game. I am sure I have said this but I really do like those MkII Air Cons and they are looking to be done nicely here.
yet here we are with zero sights on them at all. either LNER is being really dumb not letting the developers touching them or developers or DTG just couldnt be bother to because apparently everyone just "we didnt have them in our plans". -_- really puts me off (once again I thank you for TSC for having most of the trains...) Just want to appreciate Just Train's effort on making really good and much needed BR stock. Unlike DTG where they constantly use the wrong type of MK2 stock (mk2a) on railtours and the curse thing that are the carriages we saw on the flying scotsman add on.
I can see LNER having maybe wanted their modern stock in the first DLC, but there seems to be a lot of love for the 91 within the company so would be surprised if they were not granting a licence.
tbh even in their own marketing materials they dont mention the class 91 a lot of the times... and again the class 91 and mk4 would've came into TSW by now knowing its super popular, but i guess among normies of console players which is what TSW is aimmed for probs dont knwo what a class 91 even is...
The trouble is, nine vehicles on an eleven vehicle IC225 set is unique: Class 91 TSOL End TSOL TSOL with PRM toilet Buffet FOL with crew compartment FOL with PRM toilet FOL DVT Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see one but I think the sheer workload of all that is what's putting them off. They likely don't think it'll pay off unless they release it with a route with otherwise entirely reused stock, especially considering ECML would need a whole new separate timetable as IIRC the current one has all the 225 services as 801s. An 801 has six unique vehicles on a nine car train. DPTS MS TS MC MF DPTF
Not major differences between carriages. It's a major weakness of TSW if trains can't be developed because it's too hard.... The buffet is the most majorly different and the others have odd differences. Those could be compromised on. It's not like whole trains and sounds are changed elsewhere for compromises sake is it? The 91 is one of the most asked for trains and spans a 36 year period of operation so has wide appeal. Still no 60 yet either....
