Absolutely baseless speculation but over the last year we've seen Barking Station done in absolutely superb detail including stop boards and signage with correct colouring for C2C but no actual branding. Then today we find out that one of the Class 387 liveries is "Coast" based on the C2C livery, again, just going short of being a C2C branded product. Then Skyhook do all of this work for AI at just one station on the exciting GWR remaster. Hmmmm. Edit: I see that's an Hammersmith & City station so they're subbing the S stock with D on the H&C as well. Which will look very odd.
The c2c brand will be dying out possibly with the introduction of GBR, and c2c contract coming to an end... Whether this works in TSWs favour to get the brand or whether it goes against it is yet to be seen. I get a feeling the withdrawal and the difficulty in regaining of the LNWR brand (from the suttle hints Matt dropped in a roadmap) was partly to do with renationalisation of passenger services, and the LNWR brand coming to an end very soon once GBR is established and takes over passenger operations from all the private companies. Each TOC is different so who knows. What we do know, is the DfT seem pretty open to working with DTG which is a positive thing. The LTS line in its entirety would be a superb route and completely within the scope of TSWs limitations. The 387 already exists, so it'd just be a case of creating the 357 in terms of rolling stock.
1. Skyhook? 2. Barking is just for authenticity which, on a route of the Goblin's small scale, is expected. 3. The D Stock is close enough to the C stock and, well, we have the 484 so may as well use it. I don't think any of this points to anything, really. Liam's just good at what he does and wants to make full use of every opportunity he gets.
Short answer: no. Long answer: It's just coincidental. The Goblin line goes through Barking which is a station on the c2c network. GWR briefly used ex-c2c Class 387s during the Crackpocalypse, all of which are now with Great Northern and are soon to move to Southern. It is worth noting that the c2c 387s did not work with the other 387s in the GWR fleet to my knowledge, as the PIS systems were not set up to work together.
As I've said in many dedicated threads, this would be a day one purchase for me ! Recently, searching on Maps, I noticed that this route has many freight terminals! Especially on the Thames stretch. Two depots (East Ham and Shoeburyness) and good spacing between stations (faster sections and final, common "bus stop" one). Its length would make it perfect for TSW! I wonder which branch would be appropriate to make (Basildon or Grays?)... Add a 357 and a 387/720 and it'll be a perfect route! I think it's just a matter of time !! Oh, almost forgot... Thanks to this one, we'll finally see the City! Since Fenchurch Street serves it.
A C2C route would be day one purchase for me too, as long as it includes the Grays branch. I think it would be more interesting since it has HS1 running along side part of it, and some of it is already modelled on SEHS.
If you think about it, the C2C route would give you HS1, Docklands Light Rail, the District Line, the Romford branch and both the C2C and LU depots. Plus the route itself has 3 variations (Basildon, Lakeside and Purfleet) and plenty of freight opportunities. All the above would be great.............................and are also, probably, the reasons why it won't get made
If they are going to make the London Tilbury Southend railway, they would have to make both lines on it, as they connect via the Upminster to Grays section via Ockendon and Chafford Hundred, and it's a diversionary freight route. You've got so many freight terminals along the "Tilbury Loop" it would have to be done properly by DTG and not let you know who near it. You've got: Dagenham Hope sidings for powdered cement. Ford Dagenham for bulk sand and Ford car trains Purfleet Long sidings for bricks, bulk product out of JNA's and then more cememt down at the bottom of the long sidings. Tilbury Seabrooks for Tesco trains, steel coil trains, glass trains and a few intermodal trains. Tilbury 2 which is the DRS/Tesco hub Thames Haven Junction to the Thames Haven branch and London Gateway intermodal terminal. Shoeburyness for MOD trains.
Would be a very happy man if this comes out. Sadly I’m not sure it will. the c2c brand may be retained for a period post July 2025 but public owned so could be more possible. If I was c2c I’d have wanted to give permission so there is a lasting legacy on train sim form.
Thank you for your comments. 1. I'll freely admit I was grasping at straws. "Hopeium" I believe it's called nowadays. 2. I don't know why I thought it was Skyhook, I know the D stock model is by Rivet. 3. I don't think it's actually a firm "no", more like "not at the moment". DTG will no doubt be hoping that they can obtain licenses more easily when GBR start reclaiming TOCs thus expanding their options in terms of possible DLC 4. I don't agree that just because it's a popular choice it won't happen. 5. I appreciate the superb job DTG Liam did on Barking Station. I used to work there and it's a brilliant bit of modelling. 6. I'll keep lobbying for the LTS and other lines that I would like to see. Just as we all should. Anyway, I see today's announcement is for the Japanese route. There's a brilliant Japanese restaurant near Liverpool Street..............I'll get my coat.
I think they sell Japanese Beer ‘Asahi’ at that pub near Fenchurch street so that must be a clue Keep banging the drum. I hope it will happen one day.
I remember that a couple of months ago someone mentioned that the route (London, Tilbury and Southend line) most likely in development Let's take a look at the following announcements
Just catching up with this thread. There c2c inspired livery for the 387 is only there to fill gaps in GWE and possibly GOBLIN in the future. No secret plans to surprise drop a c2c route
Thanks DTG Liam for confirming. Though do also understand that you've made a 52 year old man cry. I'll get over it. See, I said the good people of DTG read all comments and are aware of which routes are on player's wishlists. I'd love to know what the top ten most suggested UK routes are. I'd imagine the two WCML releases were pretty high up the list.
I heard the 4 most suggested were: Newcastle - York (with LNER 801s, XC 220s/221s and TPE 802s + Northern 158s and 170s for AI at Newcastle (former only) and York) London Kings Cross - Peterborough (with LNER 801s, 225s, Thameslink, Great Northern) Newcastle - Edinburgh (with Lumo 803s, TPE 802s, LNER 801s, XC 220s/221s, Northern, Scotrail Layering) St Pancras - Derby (with STP Lower Level + Thameslink + EMR + Southeastern AI)
Interesting. Personally, I'd want 2,3,4 and 1 in that order. I find the section of the ECML from York to Newcastle to be a bit boring apart from around Durham and Newcastle city centre.
I don't understand why people are still asking for limited stop long runs on the ECML. The LTS is a prime route for TSW imho. Same as the Great Eastern Mainline Liverpool Street to Norwich with the Felixstowe branch for intermodal.
KGX to Posh is significantly duller. The only good things about that section are that you can overtake other trains (something which has never worn off) on the slows and this section means you are coming to the end of your day, or at least have a break to look forward to, unless you are heading North, in which case you have the delights of Peterborough to look forward to passing. Although the racetrack is a dull section of line in an 80x it is much more operationally interesting, along with more scenic interest for much of it, particularly towards the Toon.
KGX to Posh (false advertising?) would probably be much better than most parts of the ECML if it had the Hereford Loop and plenty of commuter services. Certainly more interesting than the ECML we currently have, which has an 801 and a painfully slow 158 timetable.
