Just an idea I had. It would mean the likes of Just Trains and DTG etc collaborating, but I think it could be a winner.

NSE Legends of the WCML South. Set around the turn of the 90s.
(Idea inspired by the diesels legends of the Great Western for GWE)

    Existing/Coming soon, stock:
Utilising the Class 87 and Class 86 from JT.
Reworking the Class 313 in NSE Livery so you can do Euston- Watford Junction service.
    Use the existing 72 stock.
    Class 47 for some freight.
Class 08 for some shunting, especially at Euston.
Potentially you could even have an HST as AI as they would have been on the Holyhead service back then.
Mark 2 Air Con coaching stock - which JT will be providing along with the 86.

    New stock;
    Class 82 DVT
Class 321 in NSE (from which you could then make other variants such as a 320 for Cathcart Circle)

    Optional extras:
Class 90 -- which could also be used on other routes and also on the WCML in FL guise.

It's just a rough idea and I'm sure more stock could be layered in, but what do you think?

(I'd love to see an NSE Mk1 Cobbler set in there, although sadly that would only be AI as I think they were non-stop back in the day.)

Guess I'm the only one who liked that idea then! :D

The confirmation of the 86 from Just Trains, and the announcement of the MK1 Buffer and Mk2 Aircons means I believe this could actually become a reality one day. Would certainly get me using WCML South.

A nice suggestion generally, however, the DVT is not Class 82 despite the numbering. DVT cars are unpowered and numbered as coaching stock which strangely uses the now defunct 82*** series of numbers. This is a common misconception but easily resolved if you keep in mind the lack of a power source means that it cannot be a locomotive but instead a coach with driving controls only.

I agree 100% but that's what folk call them and have done for so long that an inaccuracy has become the name it's known by.

More interested though in whether folk like the idea or not. I think WCML South could support a pack from a different era.

How would the scenery, station signage and track layout work with a backdated dlc? How does it work on GWE?

I’m all for loco-hauled, late BR era, but I’m sure we’d have high expectations now JT have tackled a northern stretch themselves!

With GWE the track layout etc was the same as the base route as set in 2015. It was just the rolling stock that was changed to reflect (although not entirely) 1971. I am personally happy to see and pay for any pack that gives us long withdrawn classes of locomotive or multiple unit. The current era is well represented but not quite as so for older eras although this is improving albeit a little slowly.

My personal favourite would be a Class 310 synonymous with when I lived in Northampton and commuted to/from London in the late 70’s/early 80’s. Would also need a Mark One Cobbler set and a Class 81 or 85 to go with it.
More realistically might be a Class 321 “Dusty Bin” as these would have reuse potential on other London routes, specifically out of Liverpool Street towards Southend, Clacton and Ipswich.

As I put in my original post, the 321 is ideal because they got a lot of use out of those units on different lines and if you build a 321, your close to a 320, which would be ideal for Cathcart Circle as a standalone Scotrail DLC.

Updated the original post as the Mk2 aircons will be coming from JT with the 86.

Isn't that for the ECML? And if it is that one, then no thanks.

That pack doesn't interest me in the slightest. Nothing new in it. Just different versions of what we already have.

That pack is for the Ecml Peterborough - Doncaster route, not the Wcml.

Really needed and for the West Coast main line it is known for its electric Freight locomotives therefore owners of this one if class 90 came with it can replace Class 66
